I never cried or anything, although I must say it created a (small) void in my life (the last few years I had completely domesticated her when she had spent most of her life as a pretty independent cat) and sometimes I think about her. so I can relate to how you feel somehow. I don't see how crying would change things anyways

PS: I wasn't very emotional either when my dad called me about our dog - she lived a long, comfortable life, hell she lived longer than some african children I get sad when I look at the photos nowadays though, she gave us so much joy.

people normally don't feel over the top sad when they lose a lifelong pet, some people react more and some less but it's pretty normal (and very sound) not to break down over the loss of a pet.

Is that weird? I'm not very emotional, but even I've shed a man tear during a really powerful movie, and this one other time when I was playing this one, really sad video game 0_o (the game was Shadow of the Colossus, please don't read the spoiler if you plan on playing this game, which you should -- i cannot stress that enough) that is pretty bad though haha + Show Spoiler + j/k+ Show Spoiler + but it is

I think a lot of it has to do with not even knowing what death really is. People are born and die all the time. Everything has to die eventually. For all I know they just cease to exist the same way they were before they were born. So what difference does it make? Life is pretty pointless and insignificant when you really look at the grand scheme of it all. So the only way a death would affect me is from a really close bond and something that alters my life drastically. Sounds kind of selfish but ultimately, everything you do is selfish (even if you give away something, you receive the satisfaction of it, etc.)

i think it has a lot to do with how we process information. Some of us might see something tragic in a film and go "thats...so...horrible..." and breakdown, others go "pffft...lame acting!". Perhaps some of us are trying to be too macho - "crying is for girls" was a common attitude held by my friends during my youth. As we get older we realise that crying and responses arent a sign of weakness, they are just a legitimate response. Its part of what makes us who we are, whether w have them or not. In your situation, I wouldnt worry about it overly much. You have reflected on the passings, and you know something is missing - it isnt really like you do not care at all. Growing up can be difficult, our emotions can be mixed and hard to understand. Your doing find buddy, dont worry! ps. I have since cried, I broke down in a movie called 'Elegy' earlier this year with my gf...the movie didnt really warrant it, but i suppose we dont alwyas choose our moments.
