some newer upmarket tv's often have a vga in, your comp will have one. although i'm assuming if your tv had vga you wouldn't be posting. so aside from that, see if you have an s-video or hdmi input on your tv, you'll need the corresponding output from whatever graphics card you want to get, assuming you don't have those outputs already. audio is another problem, depending on where you want to hook it up (comp->tv or comp->speakers/stereo). again, check your inputs/outputs i bought a 15m s-video cable a few years ago, so they do exist

HDMI cables are for higher quality video but are pretty expensive. I use a s-video cable and sometimes watch videos I've downloaded on my tv, and they look great.

A P4 motherboard will probably have an AGP slot. AGP cards are kind of outdated but i believe the 3850 has an HDMI out port. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131141&cm_re=3850-_-14-131-141-_-Product Edit: according to http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d915glvg/sb/CS-020821.htm your botherboard has a pentium D processor, not a pentium 4. However, you may not have a free pci-e power connector so i recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131144&cm_re=4350-_-14-131-144-_-Product the 4350 isn't exactly a powerful card, but it has support for HDTV (HDMI) out and is good enough to play older games (hl2 MAYBE, but i doubt it. Things before that definitely.) Also it will only cost you $32.99
