I don't want to be part of the story. I want to be an anonymous, quiet onlooker who tries to work out what the hell is happening - its not easy - and then tells other people about it. I don't like being a figure in the thing. ~ John Simpson
Today I finally admitted to myself I wasn't having too much fun, and was not fulfilling my interest while attending college. Do I love History, fuck yes I do. But could I see myself as an Historian, yes I could but I doubt I would enjoy it.
So I changed my Major from History to English and Literature. Will it be challenge, I'm sure it will be but I believe I can overcome whatever is thrown at me. Besides an English major could really open doors for me, maybe even allow me to see the world as a Journalist.

if you want to be a journalist... maybe you should have your major be journalism?

No, no it wasn't . It sucked because the girls all gave me weird looks too.

Just give them stares right back. If they ask you anything just say you're "studying women".
That ought to keep them from looking at you.

lol i don't find any practical subject "enjoyable" -- i'm just doing computer science because it sounds like a good field :p
how much you enjoy your job largely depends on the people you interact with at that job.

Well good luck with your major!!! I recently changed my major from Mechanical Engineering to Aerospace Engineering to Systems Engineering to finally Broadcast Journalism as I found that engineering wasn't for me at all. And I love it!!! If you want to be journalist, perhaps you should also try to look into broadcast journalism major.....

Best of luck with your major switch. It happens - we all do it. I was an Engineering major and switched to Linguistics. Didn't like that either so I am currently studying introductory Business classes. I think my decision is pretty final now as I am enjoy all my classes and believe they are faily easy (although they are the introduction classes :|).

hahaha It's okay dude. College is all about learning what you like to do and since what you choose will affect or even effect the rest of your life, you might as well go for something that you like to do.

I thought English and History degrees led to pretty much the same place: Government jobs writing essays and summarizing crap. That, or teaching the subject you just learned.

That ought to keep them from looking at you. hahaha I laughed really hard at this for some reason. I totally saw someone saying that in that scenario in my head.

Going from History to English really isn't a real change. They aren't the worst degrees, but something with more actual knowledge would be more developing tbh.

I assume you're either ignorant or a science major? There's just as much knowledge in each field - you'd be better off joking about how useless arts majors actually are. The defense against that insult is much harder to pull off, because arts majors are actually useless.
In my own defense, I'm an International Relations major, so I take pretty much every class that isn't science .

Science majors get upset when they allow themselves creative thought long enough to realize that they're exploited. Keep feeling bitter and maybe someday someone will deign to write a poem about it. But better leave your head buried just to play it safe.
