So I went to a dermatologist today, because I had a rash on my leg. It was so itchy that I couldn't sleep last night and it was near bleeding because I was scratching it so much.
I had an appointment for 3:00 PM. So I promptly left at 2:30 so I could make it there on time. I arrived at 2:56, filled out the papers, and expected to get it over with quickly, and go back home to spam TL.
I waited...
and waited...
until 4:10 when they called my name. The nurse led me to a room and asked me a few questions. "Doctor will be with you in a bit". I waited for another 20 minutes when the doctor came in. He asked me where it was, and I showed him my leg.
He felt it once, looked it at for 5 seconds, and said "I don't know why it's like that, but I'll give you something to try anyway." He prescribed something to put on there and left. I was charged $110 for 30 seconds of visit, not finding out what was wrong, and waiting 2 hours. Plus, the thing he prescribed cost another $30.
I was really pissed off and I went KFC. Damned good chicken. I don't know why there aren't that many KFC's in NY/NJ area anymore, they all closed down .
Anyway, I got home and started making random posts on TL and playing isketch.
I'm pissed off about the doctor but with KFC and Mountain Dew, I can put up with most things
This too
Cheers.

At least he was honest. He can't tell you what it is unless he knows what it is.

This experience sounds worse than stuff I've had to deal with, but still seems very annoying. Did you pay that out of pocket or was there medical insurance covering it in part? What about for the medication?
BTW NEVER assume you will leave a doctor's office quickly lol

I once waited 5 hours in the waiting room, then 1 hour in the doctor's office for 2 bottles of medicine. Health care sucks everywhere....

When I was younger, I had the absolute best insurance, which was great because looking back now, my mom would have been in some serious debt with all the doctor visits, tests, medications, and such that I was on. I honestly think that everything I had done could have come to over 100K. That's from the time I was 10-18, when my insurance ran out. How much was the insurance? $15 a quarter (pretty sure it started out at $10), and it covered everything. Though I did have to go to a select list of doctors and dentists, but the care provided was decent enough for the most part. And the only prescription I ever had denied was for a refill of Alegra... I had to switch to Claritin (which sucked, Alegra is the only allergy pill I recall working well for me).
Anyhow, it wasn't without faults. I did have a regular doctor at this clinic, but he was a great guy, always listened to my problem, and tried to help me. The clinic always took forever to call you back for the basics (temperature, weight/height, etc) and then into another room (and wait) for the doctor. Well, one day I had an appointment scheduled for 9am, and we waited forever. My doctor finally came into the room at about 1:30pm. We told him we've been here since 9am, and he said "I have no idea why they'd schedule you that early, I don't even get in until 1pm today."
