My teacher from when I was a freshman in high school was a woman named Ann Marie Calhoun. I was looking at some live clips of Steve Vai that were just put up on youtube and saw her on stage playing violin! WTF

Apparently she's a world class fiddle player and no one in our class knew it.

Here's some clips of her playing in a concert in Mexico... yes I know these are not clips of Steve Vai.

thats not a bad physics teacher to have lol

although i do have a certain dislike of her performance mannerisms
all the extra swooning comes off as being artistically dishonest

You were taking physics as a freshman? Cool. I've seen that before but it isn't common by where I live. What text did you use.... Conceptual Physics by Hewitt?

I always thought most high school non calculus based physics courses used the Serway and Faughn text.

EDIT: Btw she's like a million times hotter than you are micronesia

(unless you're attractive enough that I think you're hotter than OP's teacher. Which I doubt. Especially because you're a male. I think).

I frankly could not care less about a musician's facial expressions or mannerisms. All that matters is the quality of sound produced. Take Richter, someone who got into the habit of playing on dimly lit stages so that the audience would focus on the music rather than any extraneous physical movements, and one could hardly contest that he was one of the greatest musicians of his time.

I don't think you are right about the textbook. 9th graders usually aren't doing the full HS course. Also, even for 11th, 12th graders there is a lot of textbook variety.

To a heterosexual guy I am most definitely not as hot as the teacher in the OP.

I had two physics teachers in high school. They were both females who were somewhat similar to the one in the OP :3

She's pretty good at playing, but did anyone else find that music to be just like...creepy?

It's the kind of thing you hear from musicians playing outside of Disneyland trying to sell their latest album...with a target audience middle-aged women...

It wasn't really a true physics course. It was basically a class that got rid of the preconcieved notions that a lot of high school freshmen have about the subject like centrifugal force, independent horizontal and vertical vectors for motion, Newton's third law, etc. Also there were very basic labs.

I love physics though... my AP teacher was one of the best in the nation (based on what scores his students got.) In his first lab, he gave us the wrong equation for the acceleration of a ball rolling down a ramp, and when we all plotted a bajillion data points and got a clear slope that didn't match the equation, we all assumed we had done the experiment wrong. He started yelling at us that if we all got this result, of COURSE it means that the equation he gave us was wrong. It totally changed our concept of what a physics lab was supposed to be like

I think everyone in my class got a 5 that year.

Schools are starting to implement a 'physics first' initiative where schools administer physics to high school students before the typical bio, chem, etc. Of course, a more advanced course in physics could follow chemistry.

So it's more of an introductory course and not an AP course? That seems reasonable; in China, students start Physics courses in like the US-equivalent of 7th grade. Of course, it's just simple kinematics and maybe a few circuits. It's important to get the fundamental conceptions solid, or else you won't know what on earth you're doing when the numbers come along, or when you move on to calculus-based derivations, etc. anyways. + Show Spoiler +
(As much as it may seem like it, I'm not talking out of my ass T_T).
