I recently turned 21, got a gf, we started doing it, etc.
I got a blood test today and wow, I was never so scared in my life. Because I started reading up on HIV/AIDS
Wtf... you can get infected from almost anything and might not even find out about it for 10 years (Unlikely but possible)
I have to wait a week for my results but my girlfriend wants me over tonight.
She recently got a tattoo and returned from a trip from Mexico and didn't get a Hep C shot.
As much as I love her, my recent paranoia over this shit is telling me not to touch her. I'm not saying I think all infected people should be shipped away. NO NO NO.
But I'm scared that I've been so uneducated and I don't want to be irresponsible because is HIV really worth an orgasm?
Would it be reasonable for me to ask her to get tested before we do anything? I mean, I also got tested today just for our sake (We plan to spend the rest of our lives together)
"take 10 liters of saliva?" what the hell? That's like saying it takes a full ejaculation to get a woman pregnant...yea, sure, but it doesn't mean its NECESSARY, only that it increases the chances. And anyways a smaller chance is just as bad as a larger chance when you consider that the repercussions are lifelong and incurable.
I'd ask her to get tested. Just explain your thoughts. Don't act paranoid. If she's clean, then just drop it, because you're not going to pickup HIV anywhere else. Unless you're using dirty needles.
BTW watch out for sores / injuries. Don't go oral or something if liquids from 1 of you can mix with with blood of other person.
WORRY AFTER TEST RESULTS if there will be any reason. Are you sure you've read enough btw?

I don't really get your point. Kissing is safe because amount of viruses in saliva is so low.
i don't know. i feel stupid for worrying but at the same time, i can see why i am worrying. well, we already had sex (with a condom) so i guess we can keep going but until results are in and negative
i dont think im gonna do it without one. (sigh, she was suggesting no condom sex in the shower too)
^^Well yeah if you are doing it in the shower than you practically have to do no condom...otherwise for the guy it just feels bad. I know the girls like it, but for me shower + condom is just bad news.
like another in the thread said, the odds of transmitting HIV are ridiculously low. however repeated unprotected sex with one infected and the odds will start adding up.
and you cant get HIV whilst wearing a condom
and they shouldn't break easy, roman must be one frantic mofo

No condom sex in the shower? If you're going to do that, I certainly hope you're not just relying on water and gravity as a method of birth control for those particular moments. Is your girlfriend on the pill?
Don't feel stupid for worrying, being safe is always better than having something to regret later but don't become paranoid over it. If you both love each other then getting tested is a way of proving you can be together safely without worrying and you can have all the fun you want. I don't think anyone should feel insulted or untrusted if testing is something you want done at the beginning of a relationship and especially not if you're having it done yourself. If I were in your position and things were going well with the possibility of something longterm, I'd definitely want to make sure that there was a really nice clean slate to start with and it'd just be sensible to hold back on anything risky until you have the results in for both people.
better safe then sorry. The odds might be very small, but the loss is very big. Also, sticking needles in your skin in Mexico doesn't sound too good to me.

I read breaking is caused by not putting them on in the right way in most cases
Yeah, I've never had a condom break on me before in my life. Either I'm the luckiest son of a bitch who has ever lived or I've never had sex before. I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

hahaha Or maybe you've had sex but without a condom on?
I was scared when I first started to really date around. I did my homework though and that eased my mind. Now I take an STD test every 2 weeks or so, I use condoms at all times and I take all sorts of other precautions (i.e. When I go down on a girl for the first time I check for any.. nastiness). If your concerned that she caught something from her trip to mexico... then tell her. No girl is worth hepC. Not even Pamela Anderson.

Perfect troll.
actually it's pretty true, it's a lot easier for women to get hiv than guys.
Of course it's easier to contract aids through the vaginal walls and the anus than the penis, but saying that it's "pretty hard" for men to contract aids through vaginal penetration?

you tell the south africans that
How many of the south africans do you think has been tested? And even if they had, the test doesn't really say anything. They can't know for sure if you have the virus even if its positive. Even then you can have the virus for 20 years with absolutely no symptoms except for some coughing and a sore throat.

contracting HIV through the urethra is really hard
still doesn't mean you can go rubberless though. there are plenty of other STDs out there that you don't want
Got to have an open wound or be homosexual? Shut the fuck up.
He's sort of right. The major reason it spread through the gay community so quickly is because anal sex has such a high chance to tear tissue. It can happen through vaginal sex too, but it doesn't happen as often.

Sure, it's been proven that it doesn't happen as often, but "pretty hard" for men to get HIV through vaginal sex?

Dude. Every man can tell how well those "plans" turn out in their early twenties.
Ok, enough of being a jackass. It's no unreasonable to ask her to get tested, too. It's the smart idea, and if she's mature, she'll take it as a sign of, "whoa, he's really serious about us" or whatever.
Anyway, even WHEN you confirm you're both clean, never, ever, ever, ever, have sex without a condom. Ever. I don't care if she's on the pill. Extra birth control certainly won't hurt, and it'll protect you from potential disasters. Think about it: say she met some other guy one night... they hit it off... she comes back to you... you have sex, without a condom, and suddenly, you've caught something. This shit does happen. Don't be an idiot.
Also, just in case some people didn't know: withdrawal, according to kidshealth.org, and according to anyone with a decent education, is a shitty idea for "birth control."
Withdrawal is not a reliable way to prevent pregnancy and is considered the least-effective method of birth control. Most guys have a difficult time knowing exactly when they should withdraw the penis or don't have the willpower to pull out while they are having sex. And even if a guy does pull out, some sperm leak out of the penis before ejaculation, which can still get a girl pregnant.
It's between 73 and 95% effective if you do it right everytime. So kiddies: Condoms.
Only time I had sex without a condom i was 17. She was kinda a slut too. I was pretty sketched out and never opted to get tested.
Just donated blood the other month and they have to test ur blood anyways and they said they'd call and send a letter if you're positive. It's been a month and a half since i donated, no phone call, no letter saying i got it. phew! Also saved 3 lives when I donated (O negative mother fucka!) Got a letter saying that my blood was used. So i'm in the clear!
