Perhaps add some gradients, shadows, slight 3D effects etc. One good example where TL looks a bit like programmers art is the top navigation bar. A slight 3D effect and a better seperator could help there. TL is currently using a | sign as a seperator there. I think of something similar to the following: ![[image loading]](http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/5553/navbarrg9.png) Of course in the current TL colortheme and the current size. The Q in the banner should be fixed. And I think the font would look better if the letters where completely enclosed by the lines. The postheaders could use a 3D effect. The completly monochorme darkblue lines enclosing everything could also be replaced by something a bit fancier. | ||

We'd end up looking like every other gamingsite which has been pre-digested and barfed out again ;( Seriously there is nothing wrong with the way TL looks. It might look 'crappy' but its has fitted the site perfectly and if people are scared away by something as superficial as that I seriously dont give a shit about them not hanging around. Its the same as people saying they didnt wanna give sc a shot because the graphics were bad. Jeez. | ||

Yeah I always liked the design too. Yet the site navigation and organization definitely needs improvement imho. But that's only me. So basically, what Kennigit said. | ||

We don't have a cohesive banner, no TeamLiquid logo, the fixed-width site is becoming increasingly a hassle (because we still have to cater to legacy resolutions since SC is such an old game), the columns on the left and right are approaching critical mass length, there's still other links that would be helpful on top that aren't there (Gallery, for instance), etc. It's not about the look, it's functionality in preparation for SC2. (and I'm not trying to be harsh - I'm just being honest, from my perspective as a web designer) | ||

And people seem to think that if the site was to be redesigned that a) it would be completely different, b) would lose simplicity and c) would look like gg.net (as if that was the only alternative to our current layout). It's very possible to avoid a) b) and c) with a new design. | ||
