Our ad policy does not permit auto playing audio or auto expanding ads. To report an ad, follow these steps:

1. Right click the ad (or just below if you can't right click it) and choose "Inspect" (img)

2. In the dev tools window, scroll up so that as much of the code before the highlighted line is visible (img). Expand any collapsed lines if necessary.

3. Link a screenshot of the ad, a description of the problem and a screenshot of the dev tools window in this thread.

So, something strange was happening with loading TL - I was getting ads that only showed up after I scrolled down that appeared to be coming from a little blob being served from TL, and which added about four or five SPANs after the call for mirror/footer.js calling back to an image encoded directly into the page using a data:image/png tag. Not excessively concerned, but after looking at the generated source I was a little concerned by the amount of inline script that seemed tied to an "adonis" label. (I hope this makes a lot more sense to someone like R1CH, as I am hopelessly out of date on most aspects of modern web design.) What made it strange was that I am not used to seeing "foo" used in code outside of most textbooks.

Because of that, I threw NoScript onto Firefox (the same source didn't produce strange SPANs in Chrome) and took another look at the generated source. And in this version, I see onmousedown calls to outbrain.com followed by a huge stack of divs and iframes.

The changed section is shown as image, spoilered below:

This is mostly just a sanity check - what's being served has some odd appearing language in it and links leading to things that concern me. (The Microsoft Surface ads didn't bother me.)

These are static ads that are served to adblock users. The inline code you're seeing is actually from your ad blocking software. Turn off adblock and it'll all go away

Why are there videos? It's making my browser crawl! As I'm typing this, I get major "lag". I disabled AdBlock a long time ago to support you guys but videos that lag the browser are unacceptable. It's hard to even scroll up and down with all the "lag" caused by the video.

I keep on getting served this one ad which causes Chrome to repeatedly freeze. I don't have problems with any of the other ads.

Looks like it might be the Flash player freezing, you may want to disable it since it's not really needed these days.

Once again, video ads are killing my browser. And the expanding ads mentioned above has happened to me before as well. I use Firefox, currently 50.1.0.

EDIT:

I just disabled AdBlock to see if I could report on which ads are causing this problem and it's just about every ad, both at the top right and bottom right. Ads from Mucinex, Samsung, and Mazda. Plus I got a video with audio for something car related as well, voiced by Sam Elliot.

It's out of control. It makes the site unusable. Even as I type this, I get major lag in my typing and I randomly lose focus on this textbox so I have to click the textbox so I can keep typing.

EDIT2:

Just so you're aware of the use case. I typically go to the front page and middle-click all the latest items in the Community News section. That opens multiple tabs. So it's not unusual for me to have five tabs opened while I'm sifting through the news. This, obviously, compounds the problem when each tab has an unusually high amount of processing going on.

Hmm, right now I have two tabs open, this one and another one for the front page that I just now opened. Even with AdBlock enabled, I got a video with audio, advertising Cirque Du Soleil with CHASE as a sponsor.

EDIT: My PC is Intel Xeon E3-1240 3.50GHz with 32 GB RAM. So I would not expect this kind of slowdown on a couple videos. But then I don't consider video ads acceptable on any website I visit regardless. Oh, and while typing this, I lost focus five times. Sorry, if I sound salty, but this is very frustrating.

I would recommend using NoScript. In order to log-in you need teamliquid.net and ajax.googleapis.com. After you have logged in you can deactivate these scripts again and stay logged in as long as you dont delete cookies. To see spoilers you need teamliquid.net but you can deactivate that again after opening the spoiler.
Its the only way for me to visit teamliquid at all at the moment. I am browsing from an old and slow computer and the ads completely kill my browser. I get out-of-memory errors and such if I keep the ads enabled.

Is it appearing inside or below the sidebar? The inside ad should be limited to 300x250, the larger format is only supposed to load below.

It's appearing inside the sidebar and it blocks the streamer hyperlinks. Sorry for not responding earlier, I completely forgot to check back if there were questions.
