"I will be the man of this post-season."
"I will be the man of this post-season."
'Destroyer' Jaedong managed to tie for 'highest number of Proleague wins' in the 08-09 season with 'Ultimate Weapon' Flash, after recording his 54th win by defeating ACE's Oversky in the game held today at the Yongsan Indoor e-Sports Stadium.
The following is the interview with Jaedong.
- Your thoughts on ending your last game of the season?
▲ Now that our position has been confirmed, I felt as though I was finally seeing the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. I felt that I've finally reached the end I thought I would never reach. As I played countless games, I kept thinking "When will this end?", "When will we play the finals and the playoffs?" and many other thoughts. But now that the season has ended, I feel relieved, and since I also managed to earn the title of 'highest number of Proleague wins in a season', I feel satisfied.
- You earned the title of 'Highest number of Proleague wins in a season'.
▲ I wasn't so determined at the start of this season, but I kept on thinking about the title. My team was relying quite a lot on me, but I still wondered whether I'll be able to take the title of 'Highest number of Proleague wins in a season'. But now that the season has ended and looking back, I think I did quite well. It's a shared title, but a title nonetheless (laughs). It's a year-long league so the requirement for earning that title is much higher. I think that for the players, the title of 'MVP' or 'Highest number of wins in a season' is very tempting. I really wanted to earn this title.
- Aren't you tempted for the title of 'Overall MVP of the season'?
▲ I think I'll only be tempted to earn that title if our team makes it into the Grand Finals. But we're in second place so I'm not thinking about that at the moment. I think it'll be between Flash, Bisu and I, but honestly speaking, I think Bisu might earn it.
- You must be very disappointed for your team to be finishing in second place.
▲ If I think that way, then yes it is. But there's nothing I can do about it. Since we're already in second place, there's nothing else I can do but to move ahead.
- How will you spend your break?
▲ All the individual leagues overlap with each other so I don't know whether I'll be able to take a proper rest. But the fact that there isn't Proleague anymore is rest for me. I'm not pressured about games anymore so I'll be able to spend time in doing others. I want to make use of the time given and try things I've always wanted to do, bit-by-bit.
- Which teams do you want to advance from the playoffs?
▲ If Hite advances, we're confident. It's because I'm confident against Hite. It's not provocation. It's fact based on results (laugh). Actually, all the teams are similar. But if I had to choose one team I would like to face, it'll be Samsung Khan. If Samsung Khan advances, despite losing a lot in the past, I really want to defeat them.
- You now also have the greatest number of overall Proleague wins.
▲ I was very active in this season, which is why my record skyrocketed. But there are still many players behind me who are catching up, so I cannot be content here. I may be in first place now, but keeping that position is much harder. I am consistently thinking about that as I live my life as a progamer. I want to put in my best effort to keep this position.
- You seemed to be tired out near the end of the season.
▲ I think that as a progamer, a year-long league is just too tough. So for me, I don't have a chance to take a breather the whole year long. If I were to exaggerate a bit, I've been running the whole year. That's how difficult this season was. I am trying to please myself by saying that it's been paid off with good results, but in the end, I still think I was too busy. It's also physically demanding.
- You succeeded in ending your recent losing streak.
▲ I lost a few games after doing very well, but I don't think it was such a big deal. It's just that it doesn't show the standard from my practice games. I recognize my losing streak, and it's because I told myself that I had to overcome it that I prepared with the same amount of effort I had always put in. That's why I was able to end my losing streak.
- With the playoffs drawing near, what do you wish to say to your fans?
▲ Our team disappointingly dropped to second place. That's why we are even more determined regarding the playoffs. It's the first time we're aiming for our second consecutive finals so we're looking forward to it, and of course, we believe that we must prepare wholeheartedly for it. I will be the man of this post-season, since I'm already the man of Proleague, so do look forward to us.
- Any final words?
▲ Despite their busy schedule, our fans have always come down to support us. I too am busy with my schedule, but so are my fans. I am always grateful. I want to say 'job well done' to not only my team, but to all the e-sports officials and personnel.

Shinhan Bank 08-09 Win Leader Lee Jaedong "The Title I Really Wanted to Take"
[Fomos = Kim gyunghyung reporter] "In the postseason, I will become a man"
[Fomos = Kim gyunghyung reporter] "In the postseason, I will become a man"
'Tyrant' Lee Jaedong (Hwaseung) and 'Final Weapon' Lee Young Ho (KT) were co-"winner kings".
On July 13, in the 5th round of the Shinhan Bank Proleague, in the first set of Hwaseung Oz vs Air Force Ace, Jaedong defeated Lee Joo Young (Oversky) on Neo Medusa, succeeding in achieving his 54th win. This season, with his scary momentum, Jaedong piled up victories while dragging Hwaseung Oz behind him and became the winner king, along with Lee Young Ho (Flash).
The following is a series of questions and answers with Lee Jaedong.
-How do you feel about the regular season after the last game?
▲Because the standings were decided a long time before the game, it feels like I've passed through a long tunnel. I feel like I finally reached the end, which seemed impossible to see. As I played a seemingly never-ending series of games, I thought "when will this ever end?" "When will we get to the final game and start the playoffs?" but now that the regular season is over, I feel relieved and satisfied that I am the win leader.
-You were a co-win leader
▲When this season was beginning, I doubted a little bit, but I did think about being a winner king. The team put a lot of weight on possessing the title but I wondered if I could achieve it. As I look back on this season, it seems like it was a very full score. Although I am a co-win leader, I am a win leader (laughs). Because it was a one year league, I thought that the bar was very high. From a player's point of view, being an MVP or a win leader is a very greedy goal. It's a title I really wanted to achieve.
-Do you have a desire for the MVP title?
▲Truthfully, you can get greedy to go straight for the MVP title. However, because the team is 2nd place, we cleared our minds. I think that Lee Young Ho (Flash), Kim Taek Yong (Bisu) and I would be good rivals for the title but personally, I feel like Bisu would receive it.
-You must feel miffed that you are 2nd place in the regular season. (They lost first place to sktt1 in the final few games of the season)
▲Of course, if I feel that it is a shame, it really is a shame. But since we are 2nd place and we can't change this fact, I think that we can only look ahead.
-How will you spend your vacation?
▲Because all of the individual leagues are overlapping, I don't know if I will be able to rest properly. But the fact that the proleague is over is like a little break to me. Because I have no more stress from games, I have a little space to have a good time. Depending on whether or not I decide to utilize my time wisely, and to do some of the things I want to do.
-Which team do you want to meet in the playoffs?
▲I have confidence in being able to beat Hite Sparkyz. It is because I am confident, this is not a provocation. Truthfully, all teams are basically the same. But if you want me to pick a team I want to face, it would be Samsung Khan. Although we have lost to Samsung Khan many times before, I have the will to destroy them.
-This is the proleague season in which all the wins are summed up to find first place for the year.
▲Because I participated actively in this season, it seems that I came up in one stretch. But behind us, there are players that are following right behind me, so I cannot be satisfied at my results thus far. Even though I am first right now, keeping the spot is much more difficult (than achieving it was). I always keep that fact in mind while being a gamer. I want to do my best to continue to hold this spot.
-In the second half of the season, you sometimes showed a tired countenance.
▲Truthfully, from a pro gamer's point of view, a one year long league is very tiring. For one year, I had almost no free time. It also has to do with the fact that my spare time is taken up by preparing for the round of 4 of individual leagues. To exaggerate it a bit, it is like running continually for a year. To me, it was that exhausting of a season (of the year). Although the results are a little compensation for the effort, I was so busy, I practically had no time to lift my eyes and nose.
-Lately, you were successful at stopping consecutive defeats.
▲At first, we were doing very well. Although we lost a few times, I did not think too much about them. It's just that when I practiced, my skill did not show completely. I accepted the losses and only thought of overcoming them, and prepared the same way for the next games. That's how I was able to stop the consecutive defeats.
-With the playoffs some time ahead, if there is anything you want to say to the fans...
▲Our team fell to 2nd place very distressfully. But for the playoffs, we will prepare that much more. Because we will have successive matches for the first time, I am anticipating while thinking that I must be completely prepared. I hope to become a man during this postseason and I would like it if the fans would look forward to my performance.
-If you had a last word to say...
▲In spite of my heavy schedule, my fans were always there to cheer me on. Because of my schedule, although I was tired, my fans must have been tired as well. I will always be thankful towards them. Not only my teammates, but everyone in e-sports would like to thank you for all your troubles.
