This season might prove to be interesting, with players last season such as Light[Alive] and Sword[fou]. There might even be some progamers popping their heads around here and there, we never know. But, if there's a hint as to who that progamer is, you'll know for sure that it will be in this thread!

i iz monkeyspanker, and yeah i looked at the who is who thread season 2 and it never looked updated. Like ever. I looked at it like once every 2 weeks and never saw a new name. Quite useless to have someone whose not going to read and update enough.

A dumb ultimatum. No incentive in being the person that updates these, just a nice thing to do. If he can do it on a semi active level thats fine. None of the staff members of TL.net are jumping up to do the task so threatening the people that are is stupid.

Plenty of people are willing to do it. We don't want someone rushing in to do it first and then stopping to do it half way through (like has happened countless times before). If you aren't going to follow through to completion, step aside and let someone else do it.

no one ever completely goes through with this thing. whoever starts it usually updates it for a while then stops, people complain, someone steps up to take over but then they eventually stop too. i havent noticed anyone willing to commit to it so i dont see why you'd threaten him with a ban.

Nobody fucking volunteers thinking "Oh I will fizzle off and drop this later!" You threatening to ban someone for doing something they cannot foresee is stupid. If it is such a big deal do it yourself. The "plenty" of people who can do it have and often do take over when someone drops out and they themselves fizzle out... the reason is its a long season and everyone has shit come up.

Fair enough. It's similar to someone making league game threads - If you're not planning to update the results, don't make the thread and let someone else do it. I would have imagined someone would go through with it to completion. I don't really think that's an unreasonable request, but if it's never been done I guess why start now.

Its completely reasonable to hope or ask that someone goes through with it. It is unreasonable to ban and punish a volunteer when you yourself (a staff member) wont do the task. Especially considering nobody (like I said) does it thinking they will fizzle out or drop it. Everyone has the best intentions when they do it. No fame is attached to authoring the "ICCUP who is who" thread.

yea. its just that there are plenty of people willing to start and update game threads as opposed to who is who threads. just a lot less commitment and easier to see through, so its hard to hold these to the same standard.
