Seven weeks ago Clarity announced it’s Academy. After some 67 applications, 3 weeks of recruitment qualifier tournaments, and 2 weeks of 4 four-man group pool play brackets; we are finally almost at the conclusion of the inaugural Clarity Academy recruitment process. 59 players committed at the start, and only 8 of them will make it onto the finalized inaugural Academy roster. When Clarity set out to start this Academy, we truely never expected to have such a large pool of such talented and dedicated players. I sincerely want to thank every single one of the top 16 finalist players for their hard work over the last five weeks. A big thanks goes out to those of you who did not quite make the top 16 finalists as well, you all have been a pleasure getting to know and see you play.

Now, for some details on the 16 finalists and what they went through. All 16 names are listed below. If you've been following the WCS NA Qualifiers, you may recognize quite a few of them. After some scheduling conflicts with said finalists, we changed the final tournament process from a 16 man double elimination BO3 tournament to 4 group four-man pool play stages. From these groups, the top 2 players advanced into a final 8 man bracket. The winner of each group was placed into the winner’s bracket, and the second place player was placed into the loser’s bracket. That bracket will be cast this coming Saturday 4/27 at 8PM EST on the following stream:Twitch.tv/Clarity_Gaming

For information, results, and VODs from the recruitment qualifier tournaments you will find all of those details HERE.

Note: These are closed tournaments, we are no longer accepting applicants for this recruitment phase. If you’re interested in applying for future consideration into the Academy you may find more details HERE. We are accepting applicants every day for future consideration into the Academy and for our Community Team which will be announced officially following the recruitment finals.

We currently have two prospective hires for the Academy Player Manager position. But there is no guarantee either will end up working out. If you have any experience with management, player or otherwise. Or you would like to get involved with a Premier NA team on the content and media side, please let us know!

If you have any interest on any level please contact us at: clarityacademy@gmail.com. We ask for a cover letter, resume, or any related work experience or content, but we will consider people from all experience levels.

Just gonna repost this incase anyone new happens to read it!

Hey guys, if you're coming across and reading this and you're a masters or grandmasters player residing anywhere in the western world - apply to this stuff.

Yes, true, the deadline's closed, but they're still taking in everyone and anyone who is interested and can fill out a reasonable application, cuz the academy roster of 8 isn't always going to be the same. They're going to be adding new people in every so often when spots fill up, and they will add from people who have been around longer. I don't think this has actually been explained clearly to anyone who hasn't already been participating so far. (except for the email tagged in a spoiler three posts above me. READ DAT EMAIL)

Now you might think "oh this'll take so long - not worth it" - not true. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. This whole experience thus far has been incredible. There are like-minded friendly people available in the skype group "clarity academy candidates" which you will be added to after you apply, and I've found this skype group sooo much fun to be a part of. There are many practice partners that are available in the chat, ranging from different skill levels within the masters and gm league, so take your pick! Join for the valuable practice, if not for the opportunity. I've made many friends who I see having quality friendships with, as well as excellent practice partners, from even top 50 gm.

Although I am eliminated from getting top 4 in this process I plan to continue to work hard, and I assure you will all see the results of it perhaps sooner or later. I have no regrets trying out for this, and I have grown much as a person, how to deal with people, and as a player.

so yeah, gogogogo
So, let's go!

Well put Intense.

Also would like to echo what Midday said, in that this is/has been a great opportunity for up and coming players.

This academy is shaping up to be easily one of the best in the scene with regard to both skill and exposure (I'm looking at you coL). It's been great of Clarity to not only commit to an academy period, but to do so in such a professional manner.

The academy application process thus far has been quite enjoyable and positive in terms of practice, competition and interaction with the other applicants.

This final conclusion to the recruitment tournaments should be a good one; there should be some very good matches given the final 8, and maybe some surprise results.

I have very high hopes for both myself and many of the other remaining academy hopefuls to excel if given this opportunity on the final roster. There have already been some impressive showings today in the WCS NA qualifier by some names on this list, and that trend should only continue.

Through watching everyone in this process play, I've been blown away by the depth of talent this potential roster has. The guys at the top are among the best players I've seen in the NA scene (free agent or not), and I think WCS NA tonight showed how ready these guys are to break out and burst onto the scene. Special shout-out to Mystery, who got himself quite a bit of attention today for taking a game off of Jaedong. And as impressive as Mystery is, they've got a handful of guys that are all just as good as he is, and that makes for a frightening Academy roster.

I'm stoked to see where these guys go, and the Academy finals are just the beginning of that road. For my money, that makes this one of the most interesting tournaments I'll watch all year. We, the audience, have the privilege of watching these players, all brimming with shitloads of potential and burgeoning, fight for a spot on a team. How often do you get that chance? This is can't-miss, as far as I'm concerned.

The staff have done an unreal job of keeping this whole process smooth for everyone, and it's gone off largely without a hitch (barring a few technical hiccups on BNet's end). The casts have been impeccable as well, and I know they'll do a great job of making a really interesting tournament even more interesting on the broadcast. If Clarity are good at any two things, it's taking care of their players and putting on a great presentation (Hell, look how good the TL forum posts look on a regular basis). I expect nothing less but ace content from them for the Academy Recruitment finals.

Seriously, don't miss these finals. This is really going to be something special.

Also, as Midday said, if you're interested in what you and the Clarity Academy can do for one another, don't hesitate to apply and throw your name in the hat. These guys will work with you to help you achieve your goals, and that's all you can ever ask of any group of individuals all working towards the same goal of being the best.

This whole process has been very enjoyable on all levels. Seeing the camaraderie of everyone participating grow as the numbers got narrowed down has been a great experience, and it's easy to see that this academy team is going to be a nexus of improvement for each player involved.

The games themselves have really been terrific, as well. These players are very good. We are seeing many of them post incredible results this weekend in WCS NA, and I honestly recommend watching the VODs of past Academy tournaments to see these guys duke it out. The finals bracket on 4/27 is going to be a real display of skill, and I'm pretty excited I get to see it. You should be, too. So mark your calendar and tell your friends, because some serious competitive play is going to be happening just 1 week from now.

And if you do want to get involved, take what Winter wrote in the OP and what Midday said seriously: it's worth your time to apply, even if at the moment there isn't a true opening. Things can always fluctuate, and we're not some corporation that's going to file your info away and forget about it; we're always looking for the best and brightest to represent Clarity Gaming and put their skills to the test. Player? Manager? Get over here, we want you.

I hope to see all of you on Saturday!

Wow, thanks for all of the awesome feedback guys. Happy to know I have been doing a good job. The WCS performances that each of those top 16 finalists showed this weekend was nothing short of impressive.

As much as I am looking forward to finalizing this inaugural Academy roster, picking the final 4 players is going to be reaaalllllly tough.

Awesome games tonight. A big thanks for the great casting by Wyrd and ZombieGrub, and awesome observing by Kuren! Thanks to everyone who tuned in to root on these players who have worked so hard over the last 6 weeks!

I have updated the OP to reflect tonight's results, as well as posted a link to the VOD of the cast.

We will be uploading all VODs from this recruitment process (Qualifier Tournament #1-3, The Group Play, and the 8 man finals) to Youtube in the next week or so. So if you missed any of the games you will be able to find them there.

An easy link to the VOD from the 8 man final's tonight: http://www.twitch.tv/wyrd5/b/396611479

Thanks for everyone's support and congratulations to Badcop, Intense, Elige, and Bones for earning their spot on the final Clarity Academy inaugural roster!
