tec27 United States3702 Posts January 21 2012 02:50 GMT #1 Something that has annoyed me a lot in The Big Programming Thread and elsewhere around the site is not having a really good way of posting code/monospaced content. There are the code tags, but A) people often miss that these exist and just paste in their code regularly, and B) the post box is not really that great for editing/replacing code in. So by and large, I don't really like the code tags for this purpose. I do, however, really like Gists. They provide excellent syntax highlighting, easy access to raw files, version control, and multiple file handling. AND they provide embedding Through document.write But there are ways around the issues with that (Like so) I realize this feature would have pretty limited use for most people, so I'd completely understand if it wasn't worth the time to implement. But it came to my mind the other day and I'd find it useful, so I thought I'd ask

Guess its probably cleaner that way anyway Link to the script (which will be replaced by an embed if you use it!): https://gist.github.com/1654534 Thinking about making it put embeds in a spoiler automatically, but its kinda weird I think. On one hand, it seems like anyone who has this plugin will end up putting their stuff in a spoiler anyway. On the other hand, its weird to have a single link inside a spoiler for people who don't have the plugin, so it might not be the most common usage. Dunno =/
