After seeing a decent turnout in the tl.net channel on Azeroth a couple of us are finally trying to set up the tournament we've been thinking about. At the bottom of the post the tournament format is shown. This is something that can change depending on the amount of people who participate.
To sign up you can simply PM me stating your azeroth account and an e-mail address where you can be contacted. Remember to check your PM's and this thread to keep up to date on the tournament and scheduling.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
-The tournament begins by creating divisions. How many players in total sign up will effect how many players are in one division and how many divisions are created.
-Each division will have a single round robin. This means that everyone in the division will play everyone else in the divsion in one series (bo3). There are time limits for these matches. They must be reported within 7 days of the divisions being posted. You must contact your opponent through TL.net's PM system or Battle.net(on Azeroth). If you have problems contacting your opponent please PM a tournament organizer.
-After all matches are finished the top of each division will advance. The number of players advancing per division depends on how many players sign up in total.
-Players on top of their division will advance to a final playoff tournament.
-Tournament matches will be best two out of three until the finals which will be best three out of five.
VARIOUS:
-This tournament is based largely on trust. BUT you must save all replays of matches played in the the competition until it is over. This is incase of challenges.
-Participants will be told how to report games when the tournament begins.

Alright we've already got an OK amount. We can handle more, though.
|
I think the way it's going to work is, once the divisions are posted, you contact your own opponents for when you want to play. And you have a week to do so. So, everyone should be able to find flexible enough time to play during the week. I'm guessing there will be maybe 3-4 people per division, so that's 3-4 best of 3's in a week. Fairly doable I would think, as long as something doesn't come up for someone.

Any word on what maps will be used? Obviously standard ladder would be the safest, but do we want to allow any of the Korean league maps?
I assume you'll fill us in later on map picking procedures etc.
|
hmmm I cant say I've really played any of the kor league maps but regular solo ladder maps seems to be the safest bet to me

alright I'll wait till pretty late tonight to post everything else. One more group of 4 would be perfect, but I'll take more or less. Just sign up today and we'll fit you in and get started.

Where are the brackets, results, and other tourney info going ot be posted at?
|
i'll probably make a thread with tournament news, division placement, results and everything else we need and want late tonight / early tomorrow morning.

Perhaps let's go for most balanced maps only? (twisted meadows, roc gnoll wood etc.) I mean no maps that favor certain races. Would be a lot more fair for weaker players especially and the games could prove more interesting. But that's just my thoughts.
|
you guys can go ahead and list any map requests you have. or for that matter, any comments or requests and we'll take them into consideration.
|
nix 2 rivers its just soo small im ok with twisted medows, gnoll, turtle, maybe avalanche even though no one I know really likes that map
will there be only tavern maps in the list?

I wanna hear from others about how balanced certain maps are because before I quit playing 1v1 ladder, Twisted Meadows seemed pretty imbalanced. Maybe its because I was scrubby UD player
Sidenote: I will probably play if times are flexible.
