GomTV has chosen not to broadcast this event outside of Korea. I have taken the liberty to re-broadcast these games for you guys to enjoy. I will not, however, be saving / distributing any VODs. If anyone at GomTV has an issue with this, please let me know and I will take the stream down.

GomTV / GSL Coverage Please visit GomTV.net for exclusive coverage of the GSL. For HQ streams & VODs of the GSL, purchase their season pass.
My Opinion on International Streaming I of course am just speculating but I would imagine some 95%+ of their revenue is generated from Korean sponsors. I'd imagine GomTV is taking losses on anything they do outside of Korea (such as GSL free streams). Since pro gaming isn't as big outside of Korea, there is not nearly the sponsorship money available, making it quite difficult for them to monetize. GomTV & other organizations have millions of dollars and hundreds of people invested. If they could turn a profit outside of Korea (and subsequently stream worldwide), don't you think they'd be doing it?
If you blame anyone, blame the foreign markets (yourselves) for not backing pro gaming as the fans do here in Korea. I'm sure the day will come when gaming in the west is as big as in Korea, but right now it's not. Money talks. GomTV listens.
Added Extras Between Matches I assume a lot of people watching know little to none about life here so I'm hoping to use this opportunity to share a bit about the culture & lifestyle here. Between games, I am going to show some pictures / videos that depict life as I'm experiencing it in Korea. A lot of attention goes towards the games themselves, but Korean culture carries a certain mystique that leaves a lot of the world with an unsatisfied curiosity. I hope that I'm able to answer some of your questions and share some of the Korean experience with you guys & gals.+ Show Spoiler +
Note: I will not be re-streaming any more games from this tournament so if someone else in RoK wants to take care of it, go for it.

After that speech the chick did at the GSL2 Grand Final, saying how esports is an international event and couldn't be what it is without the support of the international community.....
|
Yes, because they made a business decision for a small event they are being hypocritical. They probably know there are restreams anyway and perhaps they're waiting until they can ensure a lag-free experience streaming to other countries.
|
Thanks for streaming this, Kevin. I enjoyed it last night as well as the tour of your apartment. :p

Companies don't deserve benefits of the doubts.
stupid GOMTV failed
|
|
Yeah Tester versed NaDa in the ro16 I dont think they would make him play two games.
|
Yeah. sSKS (tester) played yesterday.
SangHo aka Killer plays today.
|
My bad. GosuGamers had it wrong and I was too lazy to read the Korean versions @ PlayXP.

How about they don't stream the games at all, even in korea?
They probably had good reason to, ie too much bandwidth for a event other than the actual GSL. They also probably knew the people would stream it to everywhere else. So saying they failed because they didn't directly satisfy you is kind of stupid.

Thanks for the restream man!

They already have the infrastructure to broadcast internationally, and have been doing it for months. Also they seem to hate restreams which were banned even while their own stream was (and still is) shit. (We do/did it anyway!) Their other business decisions include charging us for viewing the games. Even old games.......

Yes probably not an economically wise decision to broadcast these to the west. That's why I don't think they'll mind me letting LiveStream foot the bill and re-stream these.

GOM decided to save some bandwidth costs on a small tournament that they didn't think they could monetize. Big deal. At least they didn't shut down the restreams. Such a sense of entitlement for some people.

omg I can't wait, don't know which one sounds more exciting :O...
probably Sangho vs BoxeR :p
and thanks for the restream

Protoss fighting.
I want to see an impressive game from Inca, even if he loses. So far, the only things I saw him is good PvP, but nothing impressive in other match ups. I think MakaPrime is nothing special, in fact, he wouldn't be even in my top 10 Terrans right now, so I expect something Inca. Pleaaase!
Boxer is good. SangHo might have a hard time. Again, even if he loses, I want some exciting game. But I think SangHo has a chance.

Thanks KevianAce! GL next Gsl competition <:

Boxer vs Sangho should be an interesting game. We haven't really seen Boxer play against any good Protoss so far, most of his games in the last GSL were mirrors.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kyrix vs Ensnare a rematch from GSL2?
