Hello everyone,
My friend and I have been getting into a massive losing streak. We both are relatively new players, my friend just having switched from SC:BW, but we managed to get into a platinum league in 2v2.
We aren't that good, but we didn't cheese our way into platinum. However, we consistently get matched against players ranked diamond in multiple leagues, resulting in many games that make us lose less than 10 points. Whenever we do win, the points are around +30, which does offset the losses in terms of points.
This is not fun however, it is making the game awful to play knowing that your opponents will have a much much higher skill than you. Has anyone else had this experience? Knowing it's not isolated will give us hope that possibly the next patch will help address this. Any other opinions?

if you're getting paired against higher ladder players, it generally means you spent a good amount of time pwning platinum players and they're preparing you to get promoted to diamond. the ridiculous amounts of points are probably just cause of bonus pool and will diminish when it dries up somewhat. Anyway, you just gotta play the game man. don't think about it in terms of what opponent you're playing. Think of each game as a test of your skill, a way to push it to the next level

Hey stropheum, I would agree that could be the case, however the losing started as soon as we were placed, so we never pwn platinum players, because we never play plat players. The thing is that I can agree that getting better is easy when you play players of slightly higher skill level, however consistently playing players who are much higher almost negates the effect, because they crush you so hard. Not to mention that it just makes you not want to play.
The game is just not fun when you are losing 8/10 games.

Had you been on a winning streak leading up to this losing streak? If so, the game is just trying to force you back to a 50% win rate and/or testing you for promotion to Diamond. It could also be testing those Diamond players for demotion to Platinum.

You must have had success in placement vs platinum players, hence getting placed high.

On the bright side, you won't have to worry about being "stuck in plat" because you're only getting matched up with plat or lower players.
