Yes, but not on the right wing.
I am happy Loew finally decides to play a kind of 4-3-2-1

I do not not like him. He makes me nervous though, because i dont really see him to be more effective than Müller or Reus for example.
Edit: then again, Löw kinda knows what hes doing. I hope.

Their play lately (since the World Championship) has looked so much less flashy and fluid and while they won all three games in the group stages they didn't look that amazing doing so. Italy on the other side is at least looking a lot better. They didn't score any regual goals against England, but I they played really well besides that. In fact I would actually view them as the favorite against Germany. Maybe I'm missing something crucial though.
One thing you have to take into account is the most teams play EXTREMELY defensive vs. Germany these days because they are scared of sharing the same fate as great teams like Argentina who went down 4-0 last WC.
What you also have to account is the class of their opponents. Spain was strong, I will give you that. But Croatia and Ireland are an average and a weak team respectively. Yet Italy only managed to barely get away with a draw and defeated Ireland just like everyone else did but in much less convincing fashion.
Playing 120 minutes against England without scoring a single goal even though they had plenty of chances doesn't make a strong case for them either. 'Playing well' is worth nothing if you don't score. Many teams have had to learn that the hard way over the years.

if kroos doesn't work, then müller or reus will surely come in. it's not like germany is going to lose 0-10 cause of the new players
