The difference is Flash competed against a range of players who just like him spend 13 hours a day playing SC and get payed for it, while Idra in TSL competes against people who play 5-6 hours a day because they like to. If Idra is a progamer, in opposition to the foreigners that he looks down on, he should be able to dominate foreigners just like progamers do. If he looses, he fails to prove this. At this level, twice the amount of practice doesn't make you twice as good (diminishing returns). Idra probably also is less familiar with the foreign style of playing now that he practices so much against koreans. That means that he might do worse against a foreigner than against a korean on the same level because he can't predict foreigners as precisely as koreans. This is just to give you some things to think about. Idra still has an edge obviously, but he isn't guaranteed to win and if he loses it doesn't mean he lacks the skill to stay in korea. | ||
