DC LAN #11 will happen on January 26th! It's been a while since our last LAN but I've finally squared away reserving a date at the LAN center. We're at a bit of a strange inbetween time for Starcraft 2, with HoTS right around the corner you can expect major tournaments to shift to that once it's released in March. Until then it's still all about WoL....but this is also an opportunity to relive the game that started it all, Broodwar. This LAN will include two tournaments, all happening on one day: Saturday January 26th @ Monster PC, depending on the interest level this gets I may stagger the start times of each event a little in order to fit everyone in. Plan for the event to begin at 11am sharp, please arrive early to set up and pay, if you don't arrive by 11AM you may lose your spot in the event.

Where: Monster PC: 7031 Little River Turnpike #13b, Annandale, VA 22003
What:
Starcraft 2 live tournament, costs $20 to enter.
Broodwar live tournament, Free entry with SC2 tournament buy in, otherwise it costs $10 to enter if you can't stand touching sc2. ($20 to play in both tournaments is a really good deal!)
Spectating is free
Prizes:
SC2: TBD (Depends on number of tournament signups)
BW: $130 (thanks Torenhire and a9arnn(aka sc2ratings.com guy) for the donations to the bw prize pool!!!)

Double Elimination Bracket for both SC2 and BW. (Format might change to groups for broodwar if there are fewer bw players)

Please copy paste the following and post to this thread, include if you are playing in the sc2 or bw tournament (or both) and your ID. An example post by someone who is competing in both events:

Notes
Please join channel "DCLAN" on Starcraft2 battle.net when you arrive at the LAN center as we will use this channel for communication during the event since the LAN center is split into separate rooms.
Unfortunately the LAN center is a bit cramped so there isn't a whole lot of space for people who plan to just spectate the event. If you plan on bringing others or friends please let them know they cannot get on a PC unless they are playing in the event. I'm expecting a fair amount of signups for this event and we may end up filling up the LAN center. Priority will have to be given to those competing in the event. You can (and I recommend) bringing your own headset and mouse, monitors and PC's are provided by the LAN center. There is a limited number of stations for laptops and/or desktops in the back corner of the LAN center if you want to bring your own desktop or laptop.
If you have any other questions before the event or during the event please let me know at any time, best way to contact me before the event is PM me here on TL.
If you are willing to volunteer for one of the below positions please let me know, I will need at least 3 people dedicated to helping with this, if you can bring a laptop in order to not take up a tournament PC for entering results and bracket management that would be ideal, please PM me for more details.

If you're around on the 26th you can take charge of the bw tournament if you want. If Burns+Peter are also coming they can split handling results/bracket work. I also might not play,(meaning I'd actually be useful during the day this time) we'll see. if I commit to playing I'll just want to practice again and I can't have that right now... D:

Have you ever streamed bw before Nan? And do you have bw installed... If you want to get it setup we could at the very least hold the bw finals so we could cast both finals back to back.
Could be more trouble than its worth though if you dont have the setup to do it. I think Ipp once casted bw for us.

LOL it's really easy to stream in windowed mode- just set the screen region/capture to the window. Not sure if you use xsplit or not. We can talk about it a bit if you want, hit me up on skype or something if you have issues. We should try to at least stream the finals of the bw tournament. :D

Don't want to be mega obnoxious about this but if anyone wants This spare external monitor let me know, I have it as a spare, and am looking to sell it. Like new condition, best monitor for its price range and specs. I'd rather sell it to someone in the DC Area or someone who I can meet up with to hand it off at Il Mee or Monster, with the LAN coming up. It goes for 110 still, but I'll sell it for less.

It was brought to my attention the GSL maps are changed...the maps I have listed in the OP are the maps we're going with. Kinda silly to totally change up the map pool a week or so before.

I don't think it's going to be a lot, last I heard was like 2.5 inches in the Annandale area. I don't think it'll be so bad that people can't show up, even if it does snow. People not from the NOVA area might bail though, which is still fine.

@Baconology: sc2 tourn will start RIGHT at 11am so please arrive early and be set up. BW will start at around noon or a little later, there will be less people playing in the broodwar event.
@Mewka: the entire sc2 tournament will be streamed by Nanman and he will also stream the finals of the broodwar tourney.

gg's theo, and all. Thanks Nanman for casting and everyone for showing up. Sorry the prize pool for sc2 was so shitty, this was one of the smaller lans in recent times, only 19 paid players for sc2.
Running 2 tournaments and playing in both of them(and going far in both of them) was too much for me, after 15 hours my brain and body was really hating me.

Big thanks to all the admins for helping to make the event go so smooth every time!
Because we had two tournaments running at the same time it became the longest DC LAN in the year I've been casting them. So thanks for everyone who watched the stream through out the day. I hope you understand why we decided to have the BW event end with a 2-2 tie, I know I would have loved to have seen the end to that epic battle but Rob put it best in his post with how long we were at the event. I know all of us will be looking into ways to help improve the double tournament format because a lot of people seemed to really enjoy it.
I want to say congrats to our top 4 players at the event, Avilo, LuckyFool, RomanDragon, & Theognis! You guys really set up a great story line for this event and I can't wait to expand on it for the next event!
Also I apologize to ZombieGrub, HappyNun, Halation, Baconology, Vinko, RKB, DustCrusha, & Qraka for not being able to cast you up this event. I always try to cast up as many different people as possible so hopefully next event I will be able to cast more of you ^_^
One last thing, I don't get to walk around enough at these events and some people I still haven't met/gotten to know. So for next event please come over introduce yourselves! Quite a few of you that I've been able to get to know came up and chatted with me and even helped co-cast so thank you to everyone who did that! It really makes these events that much more important and enjoyable to me!
