Just got word from the HoN/Dota thread that Travitus, an active member with the hon players passed away early yesterday morning in a car accident. Even if you didn't know him, i consider our community to be a big family bounded by intense esports passion - it sucks :\ .

I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on March 16th, 2011, during our DotA match. First off my gameplay as Rikimaru was atrocious, from beginning to end. My -cs was non-existent, and my kill-death record was worse, at a staggering 1/6/2, and this was all before 15 minutes of gameplay had passed. I could always try to blame this score on my laning partner, saying that he was incompetent, but I am afraid that this time it was the other way around, and the only person to lay blame on is myself.
After playing so utterly horrible I then stooped to an even lower level by rage quitting from the game. I could have tried to redeem myself and just farmed up and acted like a carry late game. Sure it would have been tough, as I only had boots and a Wraith Band, but it wasn't to late for it to be done. Especially with iSexU singing on TeamSpeak, his voice is beautiful and anyone can find inspiration simply by hearing his wonderful voice (Autotune is not needed, but it does add a nice touch to his singing capability). But instead, I chose to take the easy road out, and I will never forgive myself for those childish actions.
I also want to apologize for what my actions led to, which in the end was our defeat. Had I played, better, or had I even just stayed around to help out, I am sure that we could have pulled through with a win. This is what I am most sorry for, for letting down my fellow teammates during a DotA match. I promise that I will never abandon my teammates like that again, and I hope that you and the rest of the team can forgive me for letting my you all down and for playing so poorly. I am truly sorry RabidCh.
Really sad when tragedy strikes like this. Didn't follow the HoN/Dota forums at all but I'm sure he'll be missed here aswell as by his loved ones of course.
Always heard him/saw him play on Testie's stream. My thought's go out to his family and friends, It's such a shame a young life is cut short. But we should celebrate his achievments that he had while he was alive, he did so much for HoN community.
Originally I wrote a rant about how typing RIP seemed to have lost its meaning, but when I tried to write something meaningful about Travitus, I realized that there was nothing I could say but a generic "this is sad" type of statement. I did not know him and I doubt any of his friends will read my post so there is really nothing I can say. I can sympathize with people that did know him and the sudden loss of someone you love is always the hardest. All you can do is remember the good times and move on. :/

I refrained from comment all this time but he was a really good friend of Testie's and it has been the talk of the HoN community all day today, extremely unfortunate especially given what some of the reports are about how it happened
RIP Travis. Everyone knew he was a genuinely nice guy.
That article makes it sound like the local cops are the worst drivers in that community... 2 accidents from cops running lights without their own on, and a cop slamming into Travitus at 45mph through a stop-sign; Then they say he failed to yield? wtf is that?

The worst part is that people on-site said that 45 mph could not have done the damage to the car that it did...odds are theyw ere going much much faster

Yes, reading the article made this seem worse to me. RIP
The day when vehicles are driven solely by computers cannot come too soon. Around 1 million people die and 50 million more are injured every year in motor vehicle accidents.
RIP Trav. I Tuned in a couple times on Testie's stream and noticed he was really much appreciated in the community. Learning he passed away, even though i didn't know him, nor play HoN, just shocked me. I'm sending some thoughts and courage to his loved ones. Remember the good times you had with that cheerful fellow. So sad
I dd not ever hear of this guy, but I can imagine that he was an important person to many, and any loss to E-sports is a big loss indeed.RIP, and condolences to his family and friends.
I never met him but I always hear him on Testie's stream and remember Testie one time saying he only had half a heart but never doing anything halfheartedly. Aside from watching HoN, I looked forward to hearing Trav. Rest his soul and condolences to his family and friends and those who knew him personally.
RIP good sir of HoN/DotA. Love both of the games and I know how terrible it is to lose someone you are not expecting to die so out of the blue. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.
This is awful. I feel so bad for his family. I live in Lexington also so it hits very close to home. My condolences go out to his family, friends, and community.

I was thinking the same thing, it's a very strange feeling.
I remember seeing him/hearing about him a few times while watching Testie's stream, he seemed like a great person. RIP and my heart goes out to his friends and family as well.
Really sad to see how e-sports growth has increased the rate in which terrible accidents like this happen. I wish I could say that tragedies like this wont happen often, but with the current rate of e-sports growth its only a matter of time. RIP Travitus. I hope many people inherit your passion as a result of your passing.
I've never experienced a death of person I've known well in real life before. So this is actually the closest it's ever gotten, and it really makes you reevaluate your own life and what you've done/are doing.
I wish his family/friends good luck, and once again hope he RIP.
I googled his name plus Kentucky. I found video footage of the aftermath of the crash, which I won't link, but near the middle of the video there are some pictures of him and a nice quote from his mother.
No witnesses. Police are going to use the data loggers from both vehicles to try to understand what happened.
No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
The news post is kinda confusing and I don't get what exactly happened but it's really sad anysay Nice to see how caring this community is in bad times. Makes it look so much stronger.
Like the heroes of Ancient Nordic tales, no TLer simply disappears. They just pass on to the fields that surround Valhalla. They are the Horse Lords, giants atop the noblest steeds, the sons and daughters of Sleipnir. With thick manes clasped in strong hands, they are the fastest and the truest friends, always ready with a warm hearth and a warmer smile. Gone, but not forgotten, they will return for Ragnarok, for the final battle.
I personally don't know him but I really want to say this out from my heart: I very often think of all of you guys are invincible. There are so many people on the internet, each and everyone of you are so distanced away from me and so I don't have much impression of any of you. But that's also why I feel that we could meet again in real life or internet, somewhere, some other time by fate. These news really sadden me because I know that we could have been great fds, playing dota/hon together as a team.
Take care everyone, live the best out of our lives
Wow, i saw this on TL's facebook status or something of the likes. Than saw this news story on my 5 o'clock news yesterday. I live in Lexington and i did not the 2 were connected. Truly a sad story to hear. RIP.
I knew him through a friend that knew him from school, and although we never met, he was always a fair and honest guy, always willing to apologize in game, and would always willingly take blame to defuse the tension. Not a lot of people carry themselves with so much class Really great guy, and it's a shame that this happened. Rest in peace Travis, Purdue DotA misses you!
Edit: what's with 13 pages of comments on the kentucky.com article, many of them off-topic rants on politics? Sometimes I forget the whole internet isn't moderated like this forum. Let's post love from TL on the article too? :o
Thank you Kennigit for making a spotlighted thread for Travitus. May he be remembered always for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his clutch tempest plays.

this. all the arguing over politics or that precincts police take away from the loss. go over to their page and give your good wishes there too. This isn't about politics or police departments, it's about the loss of human life. Let's remind them of that.

Agreed. I forget that TL really is a safety net where we get protected from the all caps rage and crud out on the internet. The posts on that site made me quite angry.
In the end, God Bless. I had a close friend from a different gaming community pass away through a car accident. I know that his mom looked at a thread just like this and even posted her thanks. I don't know if this will be seen by his friends or family, but my prayers are with you. RIP

Just for some background...
Because it's at least the 3rd accident this year involving cops this year in the area. One cop ran up against a tree swerving to avoid someone, another actually wrecked someone but both were at fault, this one is just shady because that intersection is pretty notorious if you commute by it at all.
Plus it doesn't help that the Lexington Police Department was corrupt as fuck all the way up to the 80s basically doing whatever the fuck they wanted on top of drug running with South Americans. So yes, people aren't too keen on the cops around here.
I never knew the man, but I hope his family and friends take some solace in knowing that there are pages and pages of posts here in this thread for him. RIP.
Having just lost a very close friend(to the massacre in norway), I can especially relate to the people that knew him. My thoughts go to his family and closest friends who must be living a nightmare right now. If you could see this thread and the hundereds of condolances, I'm sure you would smile and feel all warm inside.
R.I.P. =( I didn't know him but it's always sad to lose a member of the community and makes you think about how easily it is to lose someone=\ I don't want to be cheese and stuff but appreciate the people you have=]
I rarely keep up with anything dota-related, I am saddened by this news. I hope those who were close to him remember him fondly and that his friends and teammates keep gaming in his honor.
RIP, it is a pity that he was taken away so early...but whether we are believers or non-believers, we can at least be happy that he is probably in a happier place. Happy enough to laugh at us for still being the suckers on earth...
Terrible news; even though he wasn't from the part of TL I usually read, all Esports fans are a family like no other community is. May he rest in peace, and may he be remembered!
Knowing him personally from playing Magic: The Gathering with him for a few years, he even hitched a ride with me onetime when i traveled to Tennessee to play. Oddly enough he never talked about HoN or DotA too much. Its weird hearing about someone I personally used to know on TL. I love the community :D RIP Travis
Edit: May you be flinging mogg fanatics for no reason at all. :D
