Time: Check in between 12:00PM and 12:45PM, Tournament starts at 1:00PM.

Buy-in: $0.00 (pay for your own time at the netcafe.)
Prize: $100.00 (split into 2 or 3 places)

Relaxed event to hang out and chill with awesome people

-All sets are Bo3.
-Ro64 and Ro32 will be Single Elimination.
-Double Elimination starts from Round of 16 Upper Bracket.
-Starting Map Upper Bracket: MLG Shattered Temple.
-Starting Map Lower Bracket: Xel'naga Caverns.
-Loser of the first game will always pick the next map.
-Each player is allowed one map veto per set.
-Maps may not be reused within a set.
-Grand finals will start on Tal'darim Alter LE.
*Note: Bracket Format is subject to change based on total sign-ups. Bracket Format has changed due to total number of sign ups.
Event Rules
+ Show Spoiler +-Each player is responsible for their own time/account at the netcafe ($4/hour or $3/hour with membership).
If you run out of time in the middle of a game, it is an automatic loss.
-There will be NO walk-in sign ups. However, spectators are very much welcome.
-Players will check in from 12:00PM to 12:45PM. The tournament starts at 1:00PM and all technical problems should be resolved beforehand.
-No spectators are allowed in-game.
-Excessive BM will not be tolerated.
-There are a lot of breakable doodads at the netcafe. You break it, you buy it.
Lag/Disconnect Rules
-If battle.net mass disconnects before the finals, all games in progress will be replayed by default.
-If battle.net disconnects during the finals, the games will be replayed at the discretion of the hosts. A decision will be made with input from the audience.
-If there is an unplayable amount of lag on your computer, pause the game and ask a host to check the state of your lag.
The game may be replayed if the lag is caused by the computer.
-Games will NOT be replayed if the player lags because they set the graphics settings to ultra/ultra.

How event will be run
+ Show Spoiler +All players must check in with me before they start their match as well as report the results to me after the match. That way I know when a match is in progress and know when a victor has emerged. Report all results to me in-game. I can be found in the community chat channel listed below or you may ask me for my character info at the event. If you report results for a game that I was did not know was in progress, the results may be scrapped and the series will be replayedDo NOT be late+ Show Spoiler +Check-in ends around 12:45pm. Make sure you are checked in with me as soon as you come in. Anyone NOT checked in with me by 12:45pm will be dropped from the tournament and replaced. Everyone on the back-up list is recommended to show up because there are always people who are late and you guys are the ones who will be replacing them. Even if you don't get spot in the tournament it is still a great place and opportunity to meet new players and make friends. If you are unsure of something, read the rules! Only come ask me after you have consulted the rules and still need clarification.
(There is nothing more annoying than a question that is already answered, read the god damn rules!) Chat channel used will be 'Team Liquid New York'
Please join that channel when you arrive at cybercraft and get on a computer,

with MLG playing on the big screen and stuff

the sc2ranks page (think thats what youre referring to when u say seeding) isnt updated until closer to the event date because people drop out and itd be a waste of my time to add people and then remove them because they dropped out early

It's probably not going to get crazy, but you don't fuck with a legit hurricane in a city not equipped to deal with it, thus all the precautions.

Is this going to be changed into a buy-in tournament now that more people are showing up, and get an increase in the prize pool? Also, going strictly by the rules, I don't think Pokebunny would be able to play, too many spots in front of him.
Probably just going to chill with ZoW and hunt for food per usual.

Exactly that is very very dangerous wording. It's one thing to be good at starcraft. It's another to say you are entitled, nay guaranteed a spot, regardless of other peoples sign ups.
Because the situations have changed to suit your needs doesn't mean you can ignore everyone else's right to play.
Edit: My take on this. They CAN put you on top of the back ups list. However it will be a complete and utter lack of professionalism, which isn't really that important as this is a local tournament with no real backing nor sponsers. However keep in mind that IF this was the same situation on MLG or any larger tournament, Reddit would be holding witchhunts looking to defame the person who authorized it, and TL would have it on the news page as a scandal.

The fact is that I saw this thread in plenty of time, so I guess from now on I'll just sign up even if I'm not coming to reserve a spot. You're giving people who dropped out because of the initial date the chance to get their spot back - I'm essentially one of those people, as I posted interest but said I couldn't come cuz of date before the tournament was full. So those people get to keep spots because they were irresponsible and didn't confirm the date before signing up? Kinda bogus to me but I guess that's the only way I can be safe by what you're telling me.

And the people who signed up without having the foresight to know they couldn't make it are rewarded by getting to keep their slot just because they didn't confirm the date in advance.

Fine, take the timestamp of my first post in this thread (when I would have signed up) and make that my signup timestamp. I know they have the timestamps with their google spreadsheet, so it shouldn't be too hard. Sound fair?
Obviously you have to convert kst to est but that sounds easy and fair enough to me.

So what pokebunny was trying to say is that there are people who signed up for the original date BUT because the date was changed, a number of people announced they are not sure if they can come to the event. IMO, people who are UNSURE of whether or not they can make it to the changed date, should be pushed down to the backup list because it will discourage players who can actually make it on Saturday because they are not really guaranteed a spot.
But this is how I perceived the situation.

You are assuming everyone in the list is someone like that. What about the majority of the signups who were intending and willing to come to the event and are also comming to the new one. That's the problem I have with that.
You couldn't come you didnt sign up thats the mature thing to do. However now that you can show up because a hurricane canceled the original event does not mean you automatically get into the top of the backup list, ahead of the other 20 some odd people who were gonna show and are still gonna show.

So people who originally signed up and COULD NOT make the original date are being rewarded for the fact that they didn't check the original date, as they now can claim a spot for the new date if they can make it.

So give me a signup spot for the time I first posted in the thread stating I was interested but couldn't make the date, because everyone who canceled signups that they couldn't make is getting their spot back? So it makes perfect sense if I get that spot, because that's what is happening with everyone else.

At this point it's pretty pointless to keep arguing. We are just repeating the same things.
Honestly I didn't even know about the letting prior leaves back on with same spot thing. I think that's ridiculous but whatever. Overall unfair to everyone else.
In the end it's up to Cert and Btway. I can't see them denying this no matter what the issues are, especially cause cert seems to already set that out. IMO bad judgement call on that but whatever.
