Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

I can't speak for everyone but no.
I am comfortable with my gender identity, I just happen to be attracted to other males. I consider myself male, and frankly the idea that someone who identifies as that gender (say male) would wish to transition to another gender that they don't associate with themselves, so that they're not classed as gay, seems very odd to me. So no, I would never ever consider it, I actually find the idea of being a gender other than what I define with abhorrent.
I would throw myself behind this sentiment. I can't imagine wanting to be anything else, but gay, I like men I also like being a man.
Well i'm also gay, and while I wouldn't want to be operated, if I got a total second chance in life, I would go for being a girl, instead of being a straight guy -and absolutely not being gay again, I would hate to re-roll my life to the same path, not because it sucks but for variety's sake-

That replay value!
As far as the question: Definitely wouldn't get a sex change operation myself. I am comfortable with myself, enjoy my time with my boyfriend, and like my "bits" too much to get rid of them. Plus I don't think I would make a very good girl!

If you have a man's body but a female gender, then liking guys makes you straight. In the same way, it's entirely possible to be a lesbian when you were in fact born male.
There's basically four components to one's sexual identity: sex, gender, orientation and expression. Sex is what you're born with, gender is what you feel you are, orientation is whom you're attracted to and expression is how you dress and behave. And none of them are binary: you can be intersex, genderfluid, bisexual or androgynous... And then there's also asexuality or genderneutrality. And none of it affects any other component.
So to answer your question: I'm sure there are gay people out there whose gender doesn't match their sex, just as there are straight people in that situation. But there's no cause-effect relation either way.

Hrmm... I would never change my sex, just because, well, I like my penis, and so does my boyfriend. :D
HOWEVER! despite the fact that I am a 190 pound, ex-wrestling (who thank god still don't know i'm gay) nerdy semi-jock, I also enjoy baking, shopping, and a bunch of 'feminine' acts. Yay for being a jack and jill of all trades I guess? <3
I have a hard time actually identifying with different levels of gender/sex just because of how I am. Yes, there is the general male/female only thing, and I really identify people as what they identify themselves as, generally male/female/genderqueer (sorry if thats offending anyone, im not too up to date on my terms... >.< trying to figure it out as I go.) But the only real difference between my friends who are a guy and friends who are a girl that makes any difference to me in terms of if they are a guy or a girl is hey, you have stuff attached to your chest and you have stuff attached to your groin. big whoop. In that way, I kinda look at it as a gender monochotomy in that gender doesn't matter at all to me? I dunno. hard to explain again
I mean, to be honest, I'd love to be more girly if I had the figure for it, but I don't. So I just let the attitude of me fill in the holes. hard to explain this part, trust me. X3
ANYWAYS! We need to have a pro gay SC2 player... I want someone who I can go to the stream of and just cheer and love on until my fingers dont work anymore. <3
...And manner bear Sheth only goes so far. Seriously though, I saw a picture of him in glasses and thought he was just the cutest little teddy bear looking guy. <3
Edit: Steve hughes... Ya want some fresh, minty chap. Smooth and tight. Like a lozenge. me and my friend LOST IT! XD <3
I'm glad too that this thread is still alive, shows that teamliquid is an open minded, sophisticated community. These are values we have to protect, I know tl since the beginning when it was in its early stages of development and I think its one of the reason for the establishment of the most successfull, global starcraft platform. And its the reason why the people always come back first to this site and love it. Thank you.

I don't understand why you would think to say this. There has been long complaint that maybe gays are discriminated against or hated on, and how many feel they should be treated more equally. I don't get for the life of me how you can hold this and also have a double standard for sheer unnecessary, vulgar comments such as this one. Say I made a thread for straight people, no one's going to come in telling everyone how much their girlfriend likes their penis, because 1) nobody gives a shit 2) no one needs to hear that. So many people in this thread time and time again feel like they are beyond some sort of common courtesy and general acceptance of language, and that infuriates me.
I'm really happy for this thread, it shows how mature the SC2 community can be. I notice there arn't that many high profile/ranked gay players though, like Harstem from the Netherlands (really good protoss player). Is there any other well known gay players who are also quite prolific?

There is this brittish bloke called KatyPerry, he also is gay if I'm not mistaking. He is also a High master player.
First post after visiting the site for a long, long time. Figured it should be here so hi everyone!

I think there probably are some pro-gamers who are gay or bi, but don't want to come out due to the possible backlash. Sponsors, teams etc . . . it's alot to risk for someone trying to make a living off the game.

You just need to take your own advice, and remember no one gives a shit.
Regardless I would say what he wrote, while maybe vulgar in your eyes, is a valid response to the question proposed. He is in a relationship, and he likes his maleness. So a sex change would be out of the question. I mean if someone asked you what you like about who you are sexually what would you truthfully say?
