Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |
Dude,
I've been reading a shit-ton of bullshit all over this Post.
Sexuality is not related to someone's gender. In fact, it's completely related with the hability of staying alive on a determined system. There are more straight people in the world cause they are optimally developed to have children and to continue their cycle, and not because straight people hide their gayness. That's simple... Gays, unfortunately or fortunately (depends what you think), can't have children. So we can assume that they are outnumbered by straight people for this simple reason.
Some people might argue that, not only what I said but, our specie, as others, tends to create mechanisms to preserve the existance of itself. That's why gay people are outnumbered, but IMO that's not the real reason. Cause mankind stopped following natural rules by a long time now.
Just trying to make a valid point here. Thank you for your time. And, No! I don't like gays, but that's no reason to disrespect them or anything like this. I like a vagina, if they don't, well... To bad. :D
Have a nice day dudes.

(I totally screwed up my point cause I miss the words/grammar knowledge to make a fine argument)

The amount of bigotry, misinformation, and stupidity in this thread is incredibly offensive. :'( How are some of these people not being banned?
On topic; Does anybody want to practice together? I'm bad but we can improve together and chat. <3

Yeah, it has leveled entire cities. But the numbers might work out that nuclear medicine has saved more lives than nuclear weapons have killed. With homosexuality genetics, I don't see a real application of that knowledge other than in vitro gene therapy to ensure there are no more gay people. If there is a gene, it will be discovered eventually, such is science. We have to hope that it comes after there can be a popular and powerful movement to treat it as a disorder and have it removed from the pool. The fact that we do not see an immediate application isnt the point. And i am a little disturbed that eliminating gayness is the only "positive" outcome you see (i see this as overwhelmingly negative and is the irresponsible use of the information I was alluding to). The fact is that understanding is an end unto itself. When we look into the naturally occurring organic compounds in rainforest plants we have no idea what we may find but the understanding has led to new medicines. Who knows what a comprehensive understanding of human genetics and behavioral development could lead to. In the future we may be making MORE people gay for all we know. Anyways, I still stand by my earlier statement. While we should respect human limitations, we cant let it completely stop progress. Its getting the balance right that makes the difference between nuclear power and nuclear bombs (or I guess in this case cure for genetic disease or eugenics?).
I didnt say it was positive, I said it was the only application I could think of at this time (of finding the EXACT gene that controls homosexuality, not of gene research in and of itself). Nuclear weaponry is an application of nuclear physics, but not positive, biowarfare is an application of biology, but not positive. I agree that understanding is enough, and I said that it was inevitable. I am a man of science, and I believe that it is not science's job to determine the morality of certain lines of research.
please read before straw man.

It seems like you're implying that gay kids would necessarily come from gay parents, which isn't the case. Likewise, straight parents have gay kids. I'm not sure if I'm just missing your point, though.

I propose, we all stop discussing whether gay is right or wrong. We're here. Deal with it.
Lets rather discuss hot guys and starcraft.
Woooo! I think EG wants a monopoly on hot sc2 players... huk, demuslim... COME ON GUYS!!!!
Coming soon, EG.TOP, EG.Nada, EG.Hero, then they'll have the monopoly on hot sc2 players :p

I have been wondering, how can you tell if a person is gay or not? I know one of my fd is gay and I was quite surprised that he got quite a few boyfriends before because in Hong Kong, gays are quite rare, isn't it very worrying that if the person you confessed to is straight and he would just run off if you confessed?
Also, a gay couple, is it also one feminine and one masculine? I have seen some which both are very feminine (as in it feels like two lesbian except they are guys) but not ever a masculine gay before

Woooo! I think EG wants a monopoly on hot sc2 players... huk, demuslim... COME ON GUYS!!!! Huk looks 100x better with his hair cut and styled. That mushroom cut vibe was not doing him any justice. Demu is attractive but I think even more so just because he's a good guy and has a nice way about him. It' helps that he is a baller terran as well.
At least I'm not the only one with a HuK crush. Hes too cute (and yes generally a good hair cut makes all the difference). x.x

masculine gays are more common than you think.
to answer your question, watch the eyes. In straight guys, the eyes will tend to trail towards attractive women, in gay guys, towards attractive men. You think I am kidding, but watch the microexpressions, the quick eye flickers that happen without someone thinking about it.

Wait, so you're saying that straight guys look at women.....and gay guys look at men. Are you sure? Can we confirm this with some sort of scientific study? Or maybe just use logic...that post was worthless.

he asked how to tell if someone was gay, I think my post served that purpose and thus proved its worth.
you on the otherhand, made a post claiming mine had no purpose, which had no purpose other than to be sarcastic and rude.

You've got guts, I think that's worth mentioning. A ton of people hold things like that against you, and hopefully TL isn't one of those places with those sorts of people. Kudos!

as far as sc2 players go, huk <3
don't get me started on my dota player crushes

While I must agree that HuK is extremely handsome, no one beats the looks of Day9 in a suit. In the dailys I usually don't think he's that attractive, but everytime I see him in a suit I just can't believe what my eyes see. =D

You can't really tell if someone is gay. Someone mentioned watching people's eyes, and this may work in some cases, but not necessarily all. There is no public behavioral mannerism that lets you know someone is gay. Some stereotypes on behavior exist for gay people, but they don't mean 100% of the time that stereotype means that person is gay.
Masculine and Feminine have to do with gender expression and its a personal thing for people. Some people are extremely masculine, others extremely feminine. Being masculine or feminine doesn't mean you're gay or straight and it doesn't determine who someone is necessarily attracted to or what their relationship will be like. Plenty of masculine and feminine gay people out there, just as there is plenty of masculine and feminine straight people.
Definitely went to an LGBT lecture yesterday and this was the main topic (differences between sex, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation). Hope I'm getting it all correct, I'm not an expert or anything.
