We are meeting in the Klaus Building on Georgia Tech campus at 8PM. BYOPC (and LAN cable). bring money for pizza if you want to have any (we will order some and it usually rounds out to about 1 dollar a slice from papa johns). You will need a Georgia Tech ID card to get into the building, so make sure you call me or stink123 to get in if you can't (we will probably have people by the doors and stuff from 7:30 - 9).

Also I've made a nice handy map for where you can park and where we will be. Generally as long as you keep things quiet, you won't get in trouble for parking on a friday night.
As you can see, the Klaus building (College of Computing) is along Ferst Drive. However you'll need to park somewhere else. Probably the closest place is in the parking lot behind Howey physics building.
Edit: Parking spots : Orange circles Klaus Location: Red circle
If there are any TL members in Atlanta interested in getting together, I think we should do it in August or September (if August, mid to late August). I have seen some people post in forums about going to Georgia Tech or Emory, and those schools are both IN Atlanta, so I know there are some TL people around Atlanta. Another university in Atlanta is Georgia State University, and I'm sure there are StarCraft players there as well. Waiting until late August or September allows people to get into gear for school before worrying about a meetup, so that's why I chose those two months.

I appreciate you trying to gather people. Unfortunately I don't know too many Atlantans (besides roommates) who are into StarCraft at all, and I know zero people from Atlanta on TL.. Haha.
Some Atlanta TLers met through the previous two OSL final watching/LAN parties. Hm...or was i the only TLer and others were just GT folks (the man who posted the threads about the parties is def TLers though...obviously). i'm going to Emory this fall and currently live in Atlanta. so, meeting TLers sounds awesome.

how could you forget my username?
at georgia tech tehre are about 5 TLers (although 3 of them never post at all), most notably myself and hasuprotoss. we usually have OSL and MSL finals parties at the school.
we were talking about doing a big LAN party on the 27th/28th when SC2 comes out, but I've always kinda hated that idea because "sc2 coming out is nothing to celebrate" lol. but I know quite a few TLers/SC2 fans around atlanta (about 8-10 at my school, 2 guys from UGA, and then ziz from emory should know a few people from his school since they were all in the CSL team).
I go to GSU and Ideas goes to tech, also the csl team all follow TL somewhat I think. I also met Colbi a long ass time ago. Assem might still be around but I'm not sure if he'd care for this sort of thing. I'm on a road trip the first two weeks of august but if this is more than like 5 people I'd probably be down.

Dunno if I could make it but I do know of a place that seems perfect for a meetup in the Atlanta area. Giga - bites Cafe in Marietta has computers for hourly rates and have sc/bw ready to go according to their website. Havn't been there myself but last time I checked the webpage they had reasonable group rates and a number on available computers. Their website appears to be a little buggy right now and is missing that content, but I'm sure they would be happy to answer that kind of stuff if the location works.

Try to get these guys to come to this thread and give input. I'm also going to start listing places people suggest to meet up, and I'll eventually put a poll once it gets narrowed down.
I am also interested, me and fourzerofour have been looking for somewhere to chill at the night the game releases, we found this site and this place located in Alpharetta, GA. Here is the website if anyone local is interested- http://www.usgamingarena.com/gaming_tournaments.php
if we want to LAN, we can definitely do it (for free) at georgia tech if everyone is able to bring their own PC/laptop. We will be able to use a big classroom for up to 60ish people where each person gets a ethernet jack and power outlet.
in fact the SC club there usually has late night LAN/proleague(or well any league that's on)-watching type parties on fridays or saturdays, and any TLer is always welcome. We can try to do a big one in August with as many TLers/GTers (or really anyone who plays SC and wants to come by) as possible if you guys want.
So wow, a lot of replies today. We can LAN if you guys want to, but that's something that requires everyone to bring their giant computers (or, well, not everyone has giant ones, but in my case..) or laptops to the event. Unfortunately I can't game very well with my laptop, so bringing my PC probably won't happen. But LAN is a possibility, especially at Tech. It's just that Atlanta parking isn't always easy to come by.. And keeping expensive PCs around is also a risky thing. But I'd still go to a LAN and hang out.
Hanging out / midnight release party sounds awesome though. Problem is that the place where I'm getting the game is actually in Suwanee, not Atlanta.. But if you guys wanna do that, meet up and discuss future meetups, that'd be a good plan also. We can do multiple ones if people can't make it. I mean, if you're in the Atlanta area, it's not exactly hard to get to Tech or wherever we decide to meet up, so multiple ones wouldn't really bother too many people (I don't think).
Meeting up a restaurant seems fun too, but that depends on how many people we have. Don't want to crash the whole place.
Give me a date you plan on having it. I will talk to people i know that plays in Georgia. PM me the date and time and etc... I'll let you know how many i can get to confirm.
I'm going to Korea after staying in Atlanta for a bit. I always miss TL meetups by a week. I was hoping I would finally hang out with fellow TLnetters.
I attend GSU, and I'm totally down for a LAN event for Starcraft 2. I live in Cherokee county, work in gwinnett county, and attend school in fulton county, lol. One helluva drive.
Depends on when during the day you want to hold it. If it's anytime near like 4-6 PM, I'd definitely prefer Saturday. Traffic during rush hour on Friday is just terrible.

as long as it's on a weekend there is a really big free parking lot right by the building that we will be LANing at if we do it at GT.
from many of my previous event threads:
Parking:
Visitors parking is available close to Klaus. Directions from 10th street!!!!!!!! : Turn into campus on Hemphill Avenue. At the fork in the road, turn left onto Ferst Drive. The lot will be on the right.
also im really pissed that this thread has gotten so much more attention than any of my previous OSL/MSL events. fuck you guys lol
I'd be fine with either date, although I'd prefer 20-21 since I'm moving in on the 13-14th. But I could just move in on Sunday instead, so I'd be good for either date.

I am definitely down to meet up. I graduated from Kennesaw State and currently live in Acworth. I am also working full-time, so meeting in evenings/nights or on weekends work better for me.
one thing to note is that between the 7th and the 24th of august georgia tech wont have any classes in session and so im unsure as to whether or not the buildings/campus will be open.

Not all of us can be pro like you =)
And I would rather have it after Aug. 20th, as that is when Gatech is back in session. But if you guys can make it 13th/14th, then we will probably figure out a way to LAN.
Sure thing, I go to UWG and would be down to go into Atlanta for SC2- as it is slowly becoming my life. Speaking of which, if anyone else goes to the University of West Georgia and wants someone to play SC2 with-
I'm entering Georgia tech this fall as a freshman. Wish I could go but I probably wouldn't be able to for those dates in OP.
August 17th is my move in date (that's the last freshman orientation) and August 20th is when other freshmen not attending the last orientation can move in. So August 13-14 is too early and August 20-21 I'll be busy with other stuff.
Any future meet ups in Atlanta I can easily attend.
goddamn i would go to this. im from alpharetta/roswell and went to UGA so this would be sick... ive been banned for two weeks though so i couldnt get in touch with anybody + Show Spoiler +

August 7th is end of summer term. Fall classes start August 23.
i think if we wait till GT starts the fall semester it will be a lot better. there will be a lot more folks from GT who are out of state for the summer that will be able to attend that way ( I can think of at least 5 people in that situation).
everyone should post what dates they 1) prefer and 2) can attend
so for me: 1) prefer after august 24th 2) can attend at any time
Preference: As long as it's before mid September, I don't really have any. Can attend: Anything, as long as it's before mid September. I'm on break and I have access to a car, so I can pretty much attend anytime.
Although I would like for it to be somewhere in the Metro Atlanta area. Anywhere else and ehh.
1) preference: early September or very late August. 2) should be able to attend anytime after August 25th or so. But I'll be busy getting used to college routine and whatnot. I assume any weekend would be fine.
Looking like late August is probably best for everyone. Going to look into this just a bit more before making decisions though. Keep leaving feedback guys
So I for some reason thought this meeting was a lot closer than it was. Still I hope it turns out well (first event with TL!).
The weekends are 7 14 21 and 28th (Saturdays)
Roffles: Anytime in August or Early September fourzerofour: Early August (first two weeks) Wala.Revolution: 7/14/21st. Pretty sure I leave 29th. tredmasta: weekends Colbi: weekends gumbum8: anytime stink123: after 21st, but available any weekends(?) N.geNuity: after 28th Ideas: after 24th Ack1027: before 21st
A couple more I think who didn't give date preferences. I suggest we start making arrangements so we have high turnout and can accommodate as much people as possible. Also, I don't know how it works but can we just but in any classroom and have a lan? (lol).
Irrelevant to this meeting, do any of you know a audio store on I-85 that has big signs of big name audio brands on the building? I remember seeing it as I passed by going North on 85 from downtown but I couldn't see the name. I think it had Shure and Bose with abou 3 more brands on one side. I'd appreciate the help on this!

I know exactly what you're talking about, but I can't think of the name! I'll keep trying to remember.
On a side note, I'll get a poll up soon and will probably be making more concrete plans soon after that.
class begins for georgia tech on the 23rd. if we did it on the 28th-29th, there would be several more out-of-state GTers who could come as opposed to the 21st-22nd.
I went ahead and voted the 21rst-22nd, but yeah--the 28th-29th is better for freshman @ gatech. Of course, I don't know how many tlers that is besides me.

its not just freshmen. i know like 4-5 people at least who are regulars of the starcraft club there but live out of state.
After school starts is actually fine for me too. I'm just on a road trip the first 2 weeks and a half-ish of August.
I'm a 3rd year at GSU, and I can see why nobody ever meets each other with similar interests. School fucking blows for meeting people lol...commuter school ftl.
Also Wala are you talking about the audio store next to Gwinnett place mall? Was there a waffle house next to it? Maybe this is too far up but that's immediately what I thought of... It'd be the I-85 steve reynolds exit.

All I know is it's a huge building. I just need a place where they will do audio repairs (ear and headphones).
Couldn't remember if there was a waffle house.
I would prefer 21-22 because I leave the week after. Don't mind anything else (Friday, Restaurant, etc).

so then why cant you just delete that poll and make a new one?
I can, but it'll delete the previous votes. Do a lot of people want to wait until the 28th ?
lol. i (and I think a few others) voted for 21st because it was the best option, but would much prefer the 28th. ngenuity, ack, and tyrio all said they prefer the 28th. zomg I just popped into this forum to see if there were any Atlanta folks on TL. Lucky me! Totally stoked to meet my fellow SC2 nerd-brothers and nerd-sisters. Depending on the turnout, I'd like to suggest a spot... Mediterranean spot downtown. Great food, and also hookah!
If it's up at GSU/around GSU I could probably come on 28th or 29th (depends on work). I'm in Henry county so it's like 30-40 minutes away from so not a long drive.
So it's pretty certain we'll be doing this on the 28th.
Where does everyone want to meet ? It seemed the consensus was that we'd meet up at Georgia Tech, but where exactly ? Also, more restaurant suggestions ?
I don't know the area at all, but don't many tl meetups try to go to korean restaurants? According to google there is a japanese/korean place on 14th street right north of gatech. Sounds a lot more japanese but w/e.
Me and a buddy of mine are interested in coming. Are there any plans to make this like a LAN get-together? Or just to meet up and eat somewhere--discuss SC2 and whatnot.
Hey guys, I just moved to the area, and I've been looking to meet some folks here period but it looks like the Starcraft community will pull through again
I would like to come. How is parking? I live north of ATL, about 1 exit north of 285 on 400.

I'd like to just get together and discuss, and that's what I'm probably going to do. But some people want to do LAN stuff, so I think we're going to get together at some classroom and do that. So you can do either.

If thats the place im thinking of, its like a fast food japanese place..i dont think there is anything korean about it.
Hold up, nvm, 14th street should be atlantic station...there is a japanese steak house. Is that what ur talking about? Im still leaning towards GT though, partially b/c i go there and partially b/c it would be hard to have a lan @ a restaurant. Unless we go somewhere afterwards?
Usually we start lan-ing around 8-9. order some pizza and watch the games on a projector screen in one of the school buildings. Usually some1 will be working the projector and will keep the room fitted w/ a constant stream of vods b4 finals start. Good times are had by all.

I'm down with this. What are everyone's thoughts ?
this will most likely be the easiest thing to do, but we can try to get dinner somewhere beforehand if enough people want to do that instead of just order a lot of pizza.
and if the MSL finals are on the fridaynight/saturdaymorning as I think they will be, we MUST have it on Friday the 27th instead then so we can watch them live!
To be honest if everyone wants to do it Saturday but people want to watch the MSL finals, I think we should still do Saturday but maybe some people can get together to watch the MSL stuff on Friday ?

Where's the lan going to be held???
klaus building at georgia tech campus. full of classrooms that have ethernet ports and outlets for each seat (as well as ample room for keyboards and mice).

If not very many people want a restaurant then it'll just be pizza for everyone.

if the MSL final is a TvT (or ZvZ but that seems unlikely) then I don't think anyone wants to see it, but if it's like JD vs flash again or any ZvT really, I'm so 100% pushing for friday instead of saturday lol.

Meeting on the Tech campus sounds awesome, but I'm not too crazy about unplugging and packing my whole rig. There's a pretty nice LAN in Marietta you guys might want to check out:

We can totally have the meetup on Friday, eat dinner and LAN or whatever until the MSL finals come on, and watch it on a really nice big projector screen in the classroom that we are LANing in.
I'm fine with whatever the majority comes up with (as long as it's all taking place at GT). BTW won't the MSL finals start at like 4AM? That's a long night of Starcraft :p
My friend and I are definitely coming, but we need to know specific details on date/time/place etc.
For example, I know Tech is the designated LAN spot, but are we meeting there or at a restaurant/other place?
Also, I know earlier in the thread that this was looking to take place more so on Saturday. Has the date officially switched to Friday? I'm fine with either date personally, but I'd like to know which day the meetup is :D
In any case, as Wolf pointed out earlier, these dates are fast approaching, and specifics would be much appreciated.
Currently working at Emory, would be interested to meet some TLers, waiting on details for the MSL finals. Watching it alone at home for the past few seasons hasn't been as fun.
So is the official place of the meeting at GT or GSU? I'd personally prefer GSU since it's the school I attend, but I understand GT being the choice because of how badass their internet is.

If you or anyone else needs a ride, I can get you from GSU. I live nearby so it won't be a problem. My car has four spots. Still just waiting on more information.
I guess we're definitely having a get-together/LAN/MSL viewing party on Friday. We can start whenever, but since the MSL doesn't start till 4AM, if we start too early then some people will be there for a REALLY long time if they want to see the MSL lol.
Usually we don't actually reserve a room, we just go in and find an empty classroom (which can occupy 40+ people adequately) and occupy it for several hours. After a certain time the doors are semi-locked and you have to scan a student ID-card to get in from the outside, so I will post a few phone numbers that people can call once they get there to be let in.
I think we just need to decide on a time to start and if we want to try to do the dinner still (otherwise we can just order pizza or something), not sure how much interest there is in that anymore. I figure starting the LAN by 7 or 8 should be about good (maybe later, although I'm sure a lot of people want to come for the LAN but not stay for the MSL so we can start earlier for them, and if you want to come by later that's fine too).

ya me too as soon as i read that. Im pretty sure most everyone has a laptop since were almost all in college. I can't eat at a resturant since im so poor lol but LAN + Pizza is great.
It seems like most people want to do pizza+LAN based on the polls. Where should we meet up? I'm probably going to head over around midnight and if anyone in the east atlanta/decatur area needs a ride I'd be willing to drive.
I'm pretty excited to come, and I'm definitely bringing my desktop so that I can play some SC2!
So, Christopher Klaus building on Tech's campus. (New to atlanta, so thats what I'm putting into my GPS)
What time? Is it safe to leave my computer in the classroom? Am I going to be the only one bringing my computer for SC2? Will the projector be in the same room for Jaedong vs Flash?
Parking is near the building, so thats cool. And we're doing pizza delivered to the LAN? I'll need to bring cash. Thanks for setting this up, I'm really excited!

I'll also be bringing a desktop - albeit not my main computer. I know Tech's generally regarded as being one of the safest places in Atlanta, but still... Not gonna' chance it. ; )
I go to GSU but have an apartment like a block away from Tech's campus. I could probably pick some peeps up if need be, though. GSU's not particularly far away.
Edit:
Also plan'n to bring a 12 pack (or so) of beer. Probably ought to confirm whether or not that's ok, though... Obviously don't have to have it, but who doesn't like beer, right?

I'm highlighting this as this should probably be answered.
I'm underage so I won't have any, But again, I dunno how gt views alcohol when there are both underage and the aged present. So.......

I would ask not to bring the beer. I would LOVE to be able to drink in Klaus, but the school doesn't allow alcohol inside school buildings and we're technically not supposed to even be having a "party" there friday either (or at least we never asked for permission becuase they will make us pay a lot of money and hire a police officer and stuff -_-).

Midtown marta stop -> turn left -> go south on West Peach Tree -> 5th ST NW.
Or with the North Avenue stop
North on West Peach Tree -> 5th St NW into gt.
Just google maps klaus advanced computing building and the marta stops are nearby.
Anyways, Klaus is on the same street as Tech Square. Which is 5th St NW. Klaus is maybe 12? minutes walking away from the midtown stop my guess. But I don't know exactly.

So where exactly are we all going to meet? So far we got a plan to get an empty classroom.
But before then I don't want to walk around awkwardly trying to find the other team liquid people. I guess we could have a doorman wearing a team liquid shirt to make it easier to spot (if that option is available). Or if someone taped a sign to the wall saying the room number *shrug*

I feel like we should all meet outside of the building or something.
PM me or Ideas for our numbers so you can contact us in case you get lost.
We are meeting in the Klaus Building on Georgia Tech campus at 8PM. BYOPC (and LAN cable). bring money for pizza if you want to have any (we will order some and it usually rounds out to about 1 dollar a slice from papa johns). You will need a Georgia Tech ID card to get into the building, so make sure you call me or stink123 to get in if you can't (we will probably have people by the doors and stuff from 7:30 - 9).

we'll get a classroom setup by 7 probably. just find the room with starcraft in it.

I don't think GT allows the consumption of alcoholic beverages in classrooms even after school hours. If you choose to drink, please make sure you bring your empty cans with you and don't throw them away in the trashcans inside the building.
Edit: Oh okay that simplifies it. yea we'll be in a lot of trouble if we're caught letting people drink in classrooms even for people with 21+ years of age.

as long as you don't park where you have to pay(coin or machine), or residential parking(with "R" such as ER51,WR32 parking), you probably won't get ticketed.

Oh, psh. Staying up the entire night was one of the best parts.
yea i had a great time on friday. too bad roffles couldn't get in :\
we will probably try to plan the same thing for the OSL finals coming up, so hopefully everyone will want to come to that as well.
also I think maybe I got carried away with all the SC2 jokes, sorry if I made anyone upset lol, i feel like I did sorta put some people off with them :\. IT'S JUST SO EASY THOUGH
Are gatech students going to have another watch for the osl? I wouldn't expect as much of a turnout but I imagine some/many of the georgia state and georgi tech students can go.
i guess it's still a bit iffy because the finals won't start till 6am this time (THANKS CHINA). but yea what the tell let's do it again lol. we already stayed there till 8 before.
Just to say, georgia tech is renting out six flags from like 6-midnight exclusively for tech students friday, so I dunno who all from tech is going to that. I will. It's more appealing to freshman probably (but tickets are cheap too).
But that just means I'll show up at like 1 am instead of 8. Which is good considering 8-7:30 was really long for me personally.
And doesn't matter if it starts 6 AM. It'll be 4 pool vs 14cc this time around = quick series.
I'm finding this post waaay too late. I'm down on the next event. Someone PM me with a time and place. I go to GSU and move around the metro area. I need to meet more local people damn it.
