I think this is a cop out argument. I enjoy playing solo mid as it is a pure skill based 1v1 fight. I never felt that I win or lose this fight by having an extra mantle of intelligence or equivalent, as that is the only thing you sacrifice when you buy yourself a courier. What is more important is to have that courier upgraded by someone else, because that costs a bit more money, but then again this is not a priority for you on mid if you manage to get the advantage on the lane and control runes well. Basically, it comes down to skill, so no reason to blame that poor nuking lich if you are not being able to outplay the other guy  | ||

Heck, the only games I won vs BH are the ones where I carried gem (on heroes like Druid or Brewmaster), otherwise we always got roflstomped. Unless you have a considerable amount of stuns, it's really hard to counter him in mid game. Passive + Invi + some crap item such as bfury will give him huge always-rely-on crits. He takes down support heroes soooooo fast, all he has to do is wait for them to cast the disable and then whack them 3 times over the head. Now, I'm not saying he's a good team hero, but in public games I rarely met people who bought gem/dust/sentry wards more than once. They just fking refuse to do it, even if they do buy obs. wards, and we lose the kill 4 out of 5 times. And then you see 35min bh with bfury/mkb/vlads/treads that just 2-hits 2 or 3 members of your team who were too busy farming their idiotic items to actually help gang the BH. Either way, my point was, I'll pick BH over Riki anytime. With normal amounts of farm, BH can stay invi all the time too, but he has track which means riki is pretty much screwed unless he carries gem. | ||

Agree. experienced pub players know when to buy ward for the team regardless what role he is playing. I flamed so hard on the gyro who constantly banking at least 900gold while i was rushing hex (just need the last 2700wand, it was a tough game) but delayed severely by getting alot of ward/dust/gem (got my hex at 50mins and gg straight away, which could be done if i got it 20mins earlier). I almost always buy ward as a carry (especially AM or void who always needs some farm in jungle) if no one did that, and sometimes the semi/support feel ashamed of that and thus buy some wards afterwards xD | ||

That's true, but you can do 3 branches + salve + tangoes + courier which is perfectly fine for all ranged mid heroes. I suppose a melee hero will suffer if he needs the stout shield. | ||
