hi folks,
for some reason whenever i launch sc2 it keeps freezing during the loading screen. i dont mean the ever so lovely face of jim raynor staring at you with his handsome eyes but the screen that comes afterwards, the planet and space, soon after which your account name and password login should follow. now i havent made any changes to settings whatsoever or made any other amendments to my laptop or windows....
as a matter of fact i played a couple of games tonight quite perfectly but then took a short break and tried to get back on 20 mins later. now however all i get is this blasted frozen loading screen and whenever i ctrl-alt-del it shows up in the task-manager as having crashed. is this a well known problem? does anybody have a solution to that?
all help is appreciated!!

I've just got this too, along with a friend. It's similar to a problem I had a while ago, where the fix was loading it up with no internet then reconnecting to the internet and logging in, but my sc2 just crashed when I tried that.
EDIT: Nvm, the fix works for me now. Try it. :p
|
Yep, same thing happened to me couple of minutes ago, probably an EU thing
|
Same problem here. Bnet site is down for maintenance as well it seems though, so I can't help but think it's related, though I'm surprised to not see any more complaints yet. Good week at the Blizzard networking center. Again.
|
ok this is exactly the issue im having! as for the remedy, same goes for my pc. i can logon offline but as soon as i try to go back online and log in it crashes right after i press the login button....what the hell is going on? and why do other people have the same problem as i do? i think earlier this evening the launcher connected to the patch server briefly, you know not like a full blown patch but more like a little maintenance that took about 4 seconds during which you can see the sign launcher connecting to patch-server....coudl this be where my problems stem from? should i reinstall the game?
*edit*
oh thanks a lot you guys for the speedy responses, at least i know im not alone with this problem, i guess it will get fixed tonight or tomorrow. well no more sc2 for me tonight. maybe i should go to sleep instead :-)
|
lol i was about to reinstall my motherboard and graphic card drivers, now i see its bnet related, I too crash before login screen...
|
I'm having the same problem, yeah probably an EU problem. Time to sleep anyways
|
I and my buddy have the same problem. The fix as described by Goshawk works for me, but not for my buddy (for whatever reason).
I'm hoping they fix this quickly.
|
this is complete nonsence. now this damn bnet 0.2 just locks your PC completely lol
|
I have no played in months and decided I wanted to pick up the game again. Updated and then got this crash myself, typical.
|
going offline starting the game = no problem.
but i get the same "no response " from sc2 when i'm online / trying to log in .
as allways...probably just need some time.........

Oh wow, Same problem here. I was going to reinstall the whole game. Hehehe xD
|
Seems like a Battlenet related problem. Darn.
|
yes i was about to reinstall....then thought a sec ....checked TL and found this thread.... ^^ let's hope someone is awake like we are and trying to fix it
|
Offline login works for me. Thought maybe it was the servicepack of WIN7.

god damit i have the same problem, and i really want to play now

The SC2 client has a bug when it fetches the sidebar news etc. via HTTP. If it receives an unexpected response (or no response at all, at the moment those servers are down), it freezes. This bug has been there since forever.

Got the same problem

same problem here
Disabling internetm, start sc2,reconnect worked for me
|
same problem, was about to reformate my pc in anger :D

Have the same problem.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION UNTIL FIX :
1- Disable your internet adapter from your network settings on windows. 2- Start SC2 3- Click "OK" when it says "You don't have internet connection" 4- Wait a little bit 5- Enable your internet adapter 6- Wait a little bit 7- Login 8- Make sure you can see your leagues and places on Multiplayer tab.

It would be easier to just block outgoing HTTP traffic for sc2.exe via the built-in firewall. No need to disconnect anything.

it's done with mouse and takes 2 seconds anyway but I am not an expert on computers

Thx Belegurth this works fine.
(I did only try to login after pressing " play offline " + reconnenct which did not work :D )

it's done with mouse and takes 2 seconds anyway but I am not an expert on computers [/QUOTE] And disrupts downloads, streaming video/audio, etc., and has to be done every time again. Just saying.

Same here.
In chronological order, I:
- restarted my laptop - repaired SC2 with the Repair tool - uninstalled SC2 - installed SC2 again - deleted the "Variables" config file - restored my system to two days ago
Nothing helped.
Exact same problem - game freezes right after Jim Raynor's face turns into a planet and you're supposed to put in your log-in details.
Happened after I switched my video settings around.
Never had this issue before.
Very frustrated.

Was thinking this was a bnet problem seeing as it's down but was still freaking out thinking I might have to reinstall after messing around with the games MPQs.
|
Glad I found this thread. I'm on EU too

My game did same at the end of map loading screen it freezes about 15 seconds and then game starts. everybody see me lagging. after that no lagging.
I tried reinstalling game(didn't work), I swithed my wlan card(didn't work), I tried different graphic card drivers(didn't work).
My pc specs
Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor (6 CPUs), ~4,2GHz Memory 16384MB DDR3 1600MHz latency 9-7-9-18 Hard Drive 64GB SSD 3 TB Total Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 Asus direct cu II Soundcard (High Definition Audio) Windows 7 64bit ultimate
I got this problem FIXED.
I bought yesterday radeon Hd 7850 and game stopped lagging.
THE PROBLEM was nvidia graphic card.
many other problems too got fixed, like after 20 minutes gaming bc2 full graphics graphic card shut's down(if nvidia drivers are 302 or lower,
Skyrim fps lags if used nvidia drivers 306,23 or higher(302 or lower works exellent),
and then last prolem planetside 2 when game starts random fps lag but if nvidia drivers are reinstalled it works 40 fps with full graphics, same problem with Medieval chivalry. Note that changing graphics lower will not fix this problem. I discovered that only way to fix this problem is reinstall drivers after every restart of computer.
so nvidia got some serious problems with software. and ati/amd graphic card fixes them. if you dont want to buy new graphic card the remember those driver fixes
