Here is the list of Blizzard betas with their duration:
+ Show Spoiler +StarCraft: January 1998-March 1998 (3 months) Diablo 2: April 2000-June 2000 (3 months) Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction: April 2001-June 2001 (3 months) WarCraft III Reign of Chaos: February 2002-June 2002 (5 months) WarCraft III Frozen Throne: February 2003-May 2003 (4 months) World of WarCraft: March 2004-November 2004 (9 months) World of WarCraft The Burning Crusade: October 2006-January 2007 (4 months) World of WarCraft Wrath of the Lich King: July 2008-November 2008 (5 months)
Looking at the above, the average Blizzard beta lasts almost 4 months. However, considering the importance of StarCraft II`s development, I would not be suprised if the beta lasted 5 months or even longer.

damn you bitches.

hmmm hope all of you that have one actually enjoy the beta

Hmm seeing that people with keys from various events can enter them in the sign-up page and there is no official statement yet that the beta sign-ups are open. How can one be sure that the beta will start a month from now? And didnt they announce a month ago that the beta will start in "a few months" ? So, if the beta starts next month this will be like in 2 months, so actually Blizzard will possibly make things faster this time.
|
They said in the coming months, not in a few months. That means it could be any month after they made that statement. Anyway, everyone knows the beta will be announced on SCs 11th anniversary March 31st and will begin within a week or so after that announcement.

Wow!0o my WWI 2008 key actually works too good thing i saved that !
2x SC2 BETA FOR THE WIN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

There's no reason to say that it wont.

This is the most optimistic you could possibly be. I agree that on the anniversary there will most likely be a beta annoucement. How long afterwards until the beta actually starts I would say probably a full month at least.
To me it's gona depend on the timing of Battle Report 2. If they release BR2 before the anniversary (next week).. then they will be primed to make the full beta annoucement on the actual anniversary. If we have NOT seen the BR2 yet... then they will probably just release the BR on the anniversary and keep us in the dark about beta a little longer.
Of course all speculation with no real backing, but I am watching for BR2 to give me a hint about what's really happening on March31st. Honestly I am still hoping they release BR2 on April 1st, which is a TvZ featuring an SCV rush where the Zerg taps out 4 minutes in.

I really want to see the (real) beta announcement on April 1st. Talk about a mindfuck.

can you torrent the beta .exe?

Well i guess the constant updates will make it pretty impractical to play on a private server. I sure won't be bothering :s (though i'd love to get my hands on a beta key...).
