With the conclusion of the online global qualifiers, the 18-player roster for the 2025 Esports World Cup has been finalized. The main event will take place on July 22-25, with the participants competing for their share of the $700,000 prize pool and the title of world champion.

I did watch the stream and think they mentioned Astrea is teamless and it's too late to join one for EWC for the points to matter, which would be a huge shame if they make it far in the tournament. Still, even if they bomb out of every match, it's still at least $7,500, so congrats to everyone who made it and looking forward to this.

Honestly a quite exciting lineup judging by how volatile the results have been in recent months, feels like this is the first time there is no clear favorite.

I think Classic should be top tier, he's so consistent at the moment. He is favored vs Reynor/Maru in BO5. IMO he's the Protoss hope, eventhough I'm a herO fan.

I m really really impressed by Astrea. Usually not too interested in protoss, I really like the endgame of him. Really impressive against terrran. Really fun to watch.

Yeah I boycotted the World Cup in Qatar with a billion of viewers and billions of money invested.

Interesting that they still hasnt announced the bracket even though we are 1 week away from the event, last year they announced about 1 month ahead iirc? Would be fun though if there is no seeding and just straight up random draw after the play-in finish and get all the top players to one side of the bracket.

The whole qualifier for the qualifier for the qualifier for the final bracket stuff has got to stop... I would also rather see some round robin or swiss brackets instead of just multiple layers of DE / KO brackets.
