TY's performances outside of Code S have been under close scrutiny throughout 2020, but he certainly looked like Code S champion TY in his 3-1 victory over Dark. The series featured a number drawn-out, late-game TvZ games, pitting Dark's Lurker-based swarm going up against TY's Tanks and Ghosts. While TY was able to outlast Dark on the night, the two players still looked closely matched. Should the two meet again in the coming months, we may very well see Dark get his revenge.
The first Jin Air reunion match of the night ended with Trap winning 3-1 over sOs, with the two playing out a series of cheesy games that one might expect in a PvP 'team-kill.' Ultimately, Trap showed that he was both better at executing and defending against such dastardly tactics, and advanced on to the next round.
The TL.net preview got the result for Stats vs INnoVation correct, but couldn't have been more wrong about the in-game content. Stats had no problem shutting down INnoVation's mid-game Marine-Tank pushes, but saw his Carrier-based army shut down by Vikings and Liberators in the only lengthy game of the series. Stats got another win in a more devious fashion, following a Cannon-rush with Dark Templars to get a quick GG.
Is it time to sound the red alert in the Korean scene? Rogue trampled all over his former Jin Air teammate Maru in a 3-0 victory, signaling that championship-mode Rogue might have finally returned. Rogue easily shutdown a Hellbat attack from Maru in the first game, even having the breathing room to send Zerglings around the map for a devastating counter-attack. The second game saw Rogue easily defend against Maru's bio while teching up to Lurkers, and then send his subterranean skewerers to seize victory. Rogue won even more quickly in game three, overrunning Maru with a Hydralisk-Baneling swarm.
