Man sc2 in 2020 is great so far and I think GSL is a huge part of it. It's like a rock in a river during this pandemic. I honestly can't believe GSL is pulling 20k+ live viewers on YT 10 years later. The VODs are doing great too and generally it just feels good to be a sc2 fan right now.

Edit: To clarify, Maru mostly went for late expands. He got a lot of units to make sure he didn't die but he didn't put those units to use when PartinG was getting ahead economically. He just played defensively from behind, its so unlike Maru..

He even invented a greedier exp build. I think today's equivalent would be: 14 pylon 17 gas 17 nexus It was only countered by scvs/marine rush as far as I remember. Reapers weren't as fast as today, so they weren't a problem either.

The semi-final is very unpredictable. TY is strategically and tactically superior than anyone else, but he always admits that hates TvP matches. And exactly for that reason he will prepare too well for Parting. If it was Dark, Parting would have no chance. It was a great day indeed for GSL and e-sports. Even the first match was exiting no matter of the 3:0 result. Still Inno remains the biggest pretender for the trophy. Oddly I sound like a fanatic terran follower and I am toss but I am trying to see things as much as I can in objective reality.

I was worried in 2019, because Starcraft 2 seemed to have a lot of good momentum after f2p and Serral's breakthrough, and that almost got squandered by how blizzard decided to leave the state of the game. Then came the EPT announcement which was fantastic but there were still doubts about the actual game. But now we are having all these great games along with the structural certainties that EPT and the Blizzard-Afreeca deal gives -- it just feels like we are in a great place!

Maru thought he would win as long as he got into a macro game even if it was in a disadvantegeous situation and he got crushed. Maru doesn't play like that against other protoss players, against the best he goes for risky plays but against PartinG he instead played very reserved because he believed losing the coinflip was PartinGs chance of winning. PartinG never needed the coinflip, he just kept pace macro wise and predicted Marus moves. Edit: To clarify, Maru mostly went for late expands. Felt the same thing, Maru kind of threw the last two games by doing risky openers instead of doing what he did in g2 and 3. I'm the biggest Maru fan, but Parting has that magic, joy to watch him control his units.

was he perhaps planning on doing a different build but using that chrono ruined all the timings??
