Terran is in the ascendancy and Inno is talking smack again. Life is good

Definitely one of the best Group Nomination interviews, interesting choice to do it in the same room as the interrogation scene in Casino Royale though.

Since that group actually happened, it definitely was a legit group of death. Thanks for sharing! I'm curious what other groups people think would be contenders.

DRG Rain Taeja Polt when **** walked the Royal Road remains a terrifying group of death in my mind.

Hey if you wanna make it a crime to read the headline and not the article I can adjust, but you're going to completely ruin the US politics thread.

Dark used to create some spicy groups. I think on the theme of family they picked Dark, Classic, soO and InnoVation (with dark eliminated in last place).

So hyped for this Ro16. There seems to be a very good mood around the whole thing these days, from fans and players alike. A bit sad that the two death groups are NA time tho, will have to catch the vods.

For those of us who have reached crossed that point of no return in StarCraft II esports, the GSL group selection ceremony is our holy grail of entertainment.

Indeed. And for us non-Koreans there is the general problem of a lack of access to what these players say, which is often unavailable or only sporadically available through live translations. It's all a big enigmatic, which is why stuff like the subbed vods of TY balance whining or doing predictions is so good. And of course the Code S pre-filmed interviews which are becoming better and better. Several of the 2019 seasons had awesome interviews already in the Ro32.

TaeJa can maybe beat Scarlett but that'd be about it. In his current form he's out of his depth in this round.

The 2014 group of Zest, Dear, Soulkey and Maru would be up there. The 3 WCS Korea champs from 2013 and Zest who would go on to win that season.

I feel like these two are the obvious GOAT group of death contenders. I slightly favor the Parting/Life/Inno/Flash one simply because of how strong parting + life + inno were, that FlaSh seemed like a clear underdog (and you don't get to say that very often). From what I remember, the second group you mentioned, Dear + SK + Maru were all in somewhat inconsistent phases of their career at that point, so I didn't feel as hyped for that one, but that could be personal preference.

The PartinG/INno/Life/Flash group was the most memorable in terms of popularity and hype of the players.

But the Dear, Soulkey, Zest, Maru group was absolutely the GOAT group of death in terms of the level of players at the time. It just wasn't as hype because none of it's players were massive stars in foreign tournaments. Dear was never that popular, Maru and Dear barely played outside of Korea, and no one had quite realised yet that Zest was the best.

You had literally the champions of the last three seasons (Soulkey, Maru, Dear) and then Zest who won that very season. Not to mention Zest and Dear were the #1 and #2 protoss at the time, Maru was absolutely the #1 terran, and Soulkey had been the #1 zerg for almost an entire year.

edit: also massive disappointment that Dark didn't do the Rag/Stats swap. Having literally the two best terran and protoss of all time in the same group would have been historic. You'd be looking at 14 GSL trophies in one group, vs 2/1/0 in the others.
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs
