The number of Protoss(9), Terran(12) and Zerg(11) participating is already known according to Liquipedia.

Also while we are at HSC, they will play on the new patch.

does that mean taketv has confirmation from blizzard that the post blizzcon patch will hit before nov 21? (or is that info already public and i missed it?)

Edit: basically they will host every game with the balance test mod, which would sadly mean no gameheart I think

Will it be on the new maps (assuming Blizzard actually releases them in a timely manner)?

Unlikely

When will players be announced? Hoping to see as many of the top ~10 koreans as possible

already seems to be fully booked :D

Anyone want to buy me a ticket. Big hugs in return!
Never ever been to a StarCraft event

it wouldn't be a big deal, but it would be kind of interesting to have a major tournament played on a "fake" patch if it did happen - not in a bad way, more like just an odd trivia item

This will be a happy time for the players. Just going there would be fun.
|
It s allready trendig in Liquipedia, just because people are checking for the participating Players!! Hype! When are they going to reveal the first Players? Hoping for as many as possible Blizzcon Players

We will do this prize split by the wax:
1.8000$ 2.5000$ 3.3000$ 4. 2000$ 5./6. 1300$ 7./8. 900$ 9. - 12. 400$ 13. - 16. 250$
|
Nice prize splitting. I'm always a bit put off by other tournaments that have massive (more than double) gaps between first and second place.

Maximum hype for the player announcements. Hope TY goes to HSC again!
Great job on the prize pool too.

Maybe we should change the title to HSC 20 information and player announcements etc rather than ticket information? A bit misleading when its used as player announcement thread now^^

Haha sorry. I revived this thread cause I didn't want to start a new one just to ask questions and this was the newest one concering HSC We'll just get it in the "Hot" section so everyone is checking it out anyway xD

Would it be possible to have some of racing Showmatches there as well? https://reddit.app.link/MbPmPykWo1 There is a rumor, that Reynors Terran is also pretty sick. So what about an Reynor v Serral TvT :D

I gues it makes sense to add players and other information to the OP, so a mod can rename this thread to "Everything you ned to know about HSC XX" or "HSC XX General Information" or something like that if possible
Edit: Thanks!

Yeah.. I have no money too . It looks so awesome though. Tropical Islands looks like such a sweet venue!! This time next year I'm definitely going to make it though.

no results for him on liquipedia since mid 2014: White-Ra/Results

Is there an alphabetical order of the players on the liquipedia page? If so, then there are 3 zerg players on S betwixt Serral and Stephano. The second letter in their names are between E and T. My guess is Socke, soO and Solar.

|
Snute and SortOf are also possible I think.

HSC is my favorite tournament. Thank you Take for all the work you've done for Starcraft for all those years, it's amazing to see that a decade later you're still so passionate about it. Can't wait to spend my weekend on Twitch!

Cure was really good for a few months a couple of years back (I think it was end of HotS). The most memorable game he played was a TvT vs a top player, I think INno, where Cure played marine heavy and forgot stim until around 16 minute into the game. Good times!

TaeJa at HSC is very very nice, he had to be there at HSC20 tbh. Wish MC was still relevant at SC2 and went there as well. TIME getting invited is pleasant too, especially the chinese crowd is gonna like it I guess.

It would be amazing if the remaining Zergs were Solar, Dark and Reynor; Scarlett said she won't be in, Lambo did not confirm but he may very well be in and I, too, fear that Dark will never get to play at HSC.
I expect Heromarine and uThermal; as for Koreans, there is no HSC without Bunny and we might get TY or Inno. Some NA player(will Special and Neeb ever come?) would be great, too.

I would have rather said almost never or not anymore, Scarlett was the last one joining one HSC two years ago IIRC if we don't count Special's countless last minute declines but NA presence wasn't that uncommon in the past. Or are you implying we should never expect NA players from now on?

The past is the past. Maybe the travel is too much during WCS and holiday in offseason. I don't mind it. I would love to see Neeb and SpeCial but I am human myself so I kind of lose hope on getting them to a HSC. If they won't come to HSC XX which is a really nice event they probably wouldn't attend another one.

They said it will be on the new patch

Lets goooo Stats. Really hope he has a dominate performance after a disappointing ro16 for the WCS Finals. Tbh these two in the finals would be perfect for me.
|
YES! TY and Stats in the house. The two players I wanted to go the most. This is already going to be sick. Looking forward to more sick play and casting from TY as well as an even drunker Stats.

We are not done yet. There are some really nice players still :>

Oops, I am blind, I just saw it is already in the OP.
Maybe the Liquipedia page could be updated to show it is the post blizzcon unreleased patch in "game version."
I hope for more Terran success following up the Wardi tournaments, at least until P and Z ajust to the new meta.
GJ getting a good lineup! Who is missing? I hope for Reynor, Heromarine, Snute, souL and maybe... Dark?

But the way they keep dropping hints I'm guessing we'll get another couple of big Korean names.

I hope Fantasy is coming. Maru wouldn't be bad either, but that probably won't happen.
I'm already happy with Stats, Taeja and TY tbh. Parting is great too. Looking at the list, I think Solar is missing, he's great.
|
I'm pretty sure soO is gonna be one of the last ones.

Yeah we need Solar there for the couch too. I'm thinking Rogue could come too, JAGW seems to be showing up in force.

Thrilled to see TY and Stats. Hoping for Innovation, Rogue, Fantasy, and sOs/herO.

SoO's already confirmed according to liquipedia?

Not gonna happen but how sick would a hero showing be before he leaves to the military?
Otherwise these are my hopes (Only considering EU and KR):
Last Protoss player: DNS or zest
Terran player: gumiho, dream, innovation
Zerg: ragnarok, snute, solar, impact (knowing rogue and dark probably won’t show)
EDIT: How did I forget my boy Denver! He better be there haha

For the last players I predict:
Protoss: Zest (if not Zest, maybe Skillous?)
Terran: Heromarine, Marinelord, Innovation, Fantasy/Maru
Zerg: Reynor, Solar, Snute
It's kinda what I hope, but I'm already happy with the players right now tbh.

Wow right, but might also mean no Solar. Lambo should be 100% there, I forgot him somehow.

Haha honestly forgot about them. Just assumed they were already invited even though I was staring at the list. Not a huge huge Gabe fan admittedly. My least favorite type of Terran player, though he’s probably going. Reynor would be great and it’s likely he’s going
|
Last Protoss is obviously MC! No HSC without the BossToss Zerg: Reynor, Lambo, Solar Terran: Big Gabe, Biggest Gabe, Huge Gabe and Inno

Snute is retired everyone. He isn't taking a spot of an active player. He would only ever consider playing when actually we are in need.

Would he consider getting drunk and casting in an Australian accent as Probe? Cause we are ready in need of that.

Btw guys, feel free to join the hscxx channel on the TakeTV discord to discuss the HSC or ask any questions! Right now everyone is speaking german, but it's definitely intended as an english speaking channel and will be promoted on stream during the event as well.

Lineup looking good! We already had a sauna afterparty at Assembly this summer but I think Tropical Islands might be able to top it. I'll find out.

Best thing about HSC is the race distribution is always good

PS. Why hasn't there been any announcement about soO's participation? He's been listed on LP for a while now. Since LP is obviously infallible, how come TakeTV hasn't made it public?

Finally announced, so hyped for artosis at hsc. Remember to watch the pylon show for the last 4 players and the groups! And just because its the pylon show I guess :p.

Wow nice, have fun going to a party with 4 kids Artosis
|
That is so sweet, having Artosis there is going to be great. He's always at his best with the laid back style he and Tasteless does at the GSL, he should fit right in on the couch.
|
|
Really cool to see Artosis going to HSC. I'm so pumped for this tournement right now. Best of 2 sounds very interesting as well.
|
If Naruto didn t say, that he allready finalised the groups days ago, I would be glad to belive, that TakeTV was just looking at this thread, to see who the community wants and invites them. Realy sick lineup! The groups are looking realy nice as well, good work on that
|
This tournament is gonna be a huge success, not only because of the amazing setup of TakeTV but the players coming, you got Serral making sure we get to see the highest level of Zerg, TY and Time which have shown to be the most impressive Terrans of late 2019 and you have Stats and Trap who on average is the best-performing Protosses of 2019 with only Classic missing. If they manage to get Dark for this tournament as well this tournament is 100% completely stacked with the best players SC2 has to offer atm.
|
Aw, no Stephano.
Can't be helped. But it's a kickass lineup anyway!
|
Group A looks like the group of death in this one. I expect Terran to be stronger on this patch, and there are 4 good ones as well as many Koreans. Cool that the TvT matchup will actually matter!

Should definitely not be underestimated if he focuses on the new patch already.

I was gonna say group D is the group of death, but tbh they are all having tons of top and strong players so I don't think there is any.
|
noo, why is Stephano skipping it?
|
Yeah shame about Stephano, was actually looking forward to his games the most. Always enjoyed his games on new patches/updates. Can't be helped, maybe he got sick, its almost winter after all =)
|
This is so god damn beautiful, what a sick lineup, and they managed to get so many of the HSC greats for this anniversary edition. Plus, the bold choice to just play the tournament on the balance patch to save us from blord/infestor and nydushost hell. HSC is the true GOAT

Hmm, I guess Neeb will go to France to play Nation Wars' offline finals if team USA qualifies today; he could have arranged something; Special, on the other hand, is super unlucky with HSC. Dark's language barrier problem seems weird when there are more than ten korean players while Maru just doesn't like to travel, it can't be helped. Maybe if the idea of HSC being played in the USA turned out successful we would have eventually seen them play in the tournament...
Thus said, I obviously don't want to complain, the roster is very nice and I appreciate the effort as usual; I just would have loved to see those players at HSC once.
On a side note, I am curious about Dear and Ragnarok. They went to ASUS Rog earlier this year so I guess they wouldn't have problems to travel, and I don't recall them ever being at HSC.

On a side note, I am curious about Dear and Ragnarok. They went to ASUS Rog earlier this year so I guess they wouldn't have problems to travel, and I don't recall them ever being at HSC. I imagine language barrier issues are way more pronounced at HSC than at a regular stock tournament.
Basically why so many love the tournament is the house party with a StarCraft tournament attached vibe they have going, but I imagine for Koreans it might be unappealing because they can’t really partake in that aspect so much.
Perhaps that’s a factor for some. For Dark especially he’s had a gruelling year and ascended to the top of the mountain so maybe he wants a break too to enjoy his Blizzcon cash.

A part of me would like Grubby to come back as a caster. He was one of the best, full of knowledge, especially about protoss, and a likeable guy who would never step on his co-commentator's toes.
It has been a long time since I saw him in the SC2 scene, too bad he jumped on the Heroes train, but maybe he will be back if WC3 reforged gets some decent tournaments.

Koreans also have a day of flight to go there and if they miss the top 5 it's quite an expensive trip to take, so I can get why some koreans wouldn't be to interested to go. ~2000$ and at least 2 whole day to go to a party is something to think about.
On top of not beeing to comfortable in an european party
Still it's gonna be amazing

Hmm, I guess Neeb will go to France to play Nation Wars' offline finals if team USA qualifies today; he could have arranged something; Special, on the other hand, is super unlucky with HSC. Dark's language barrier problem seems weird when there are more than ten korean players while Maru just doesn't like to travel, it can't be helped. Some wont, but that s okay, for me it's completely fine to have half a Korean roaster and a full EU roster, compared to having full EU+ full NA

From a business/ cost-benefit analysis point of view it might not make monetary sense to attend for anyone aside from the top5. Yet if you treat it as a semi-casual trip to Europe, with the possibility to promote ur personal brand and earn some money on the side, than it's a no-brainer. Plus I imagine you could ask your sponsors and whatnot for contributions for the costs involved.

Man I wish I weren’t a poor college student in the US. I want to go so bad
I’ll have a ton of fun watching though! The player list, the caster list, the overall hype. Amazing. Huge thanks to Take in advance for all the enjoyment I’m going to get out of watching HSCXX

We brought nearly all Koreans. All hotels are covered for every player as well. Usually its an argument but for this HSC it isn't. But obviously free time can be worth more than money too

Thanks for pulling out all the stops to make this HSC the sickest one yet, aside from the loss of incontrol.

I couldnt find a statement if fantasy was invited or not. i was just corious. I also think that he is showing very entertaining games, plays on a really high level and is better then taeja. But the argument with the historic aspect is understandable. but fantasy was at hsc XVII, so i thought he could be invited.

Sick lineup, really looking forward to it. Big thanks to Take and Naruto (and the rest of the crew) for organizing yet another awesome event! With the new patch it will be interesting how things will turn out, I´m making the ballsy predicition neither Serral nor Reynor will win this, maybe, just maybe, not even a zerg.

Serral needs this one to match TaeJa but it will most definitely be harder with the new patch!

in terms of wins Zest could match Taeja too. He "only" failed the back to back to back by 1 map (first attempt, losing to Patience 3-4)

That's true, but I would be surprised to see Zest win the tournament considering how he has been playing lately. Also, Serral wouldn't only match TaeJa's overall and consecutive amount of HSC won but he would also reach him at 11 Premier Tournaments in total(won in 22 months instead of 24).

If there are any players have to be replaced, can we please have Goblin or Skillous? They had an amazing showing at Nationwars, would love to see even more from them at HSC.

Is Reynor eligible to drink? If not, he must have advantage over other drunk opponents.

Players in the tournament do not drink or play drunk.

Looks like a great tournament! I have a question on the scheduling side of things - for some players, the tournament ends rapidly on Day1 because they are eliminated quickly.
Is it difficult to schedule the 4 groups so that it all ends on the second day? This will ensure that players will retain an "interest" till end of day2.
Is something like this even desirable for the viewers?

You mean like playing ~4 rounds of each group compared to two whole groups? There are several reasons to not do it. We have 16 computers available to play - meaning two whole groups. After 4 rounds lots of players potentially have already won or lost key-matches.
Its better to have players available to cast / shoot some videos that are not playing. If players have to play during that day we would prefer not do bother them doing stuff. I see your point and I am not saying its wrong or a bad suggestion but I believe it has more disadvantages for us compared to advantages.
Someone asked if FantaSy was invited:FantaSy was not invited. He asked me but I already had the lineup finalized. There is no reason. Its not that I don't value him or think he's bad but not every player will make it. Also keep in mind lots of people that were originally invited / planned cancelled for example

I don't know how I feel about best of 2's instead of Bo3. I feel it benefits cheesier (read: non-standard) players.
Edit: other than that, I'm extremely hyped. LOVE the atmosphere at HSC.

I dunno Kev, but this HSC looks like an absolute blast!

Are the groups ordered with map score difference or match wins first? Like is a player with 2-0, 0-2 even or above with a player with 1-1, 1-1? I would also like to know the tie breakers if the main criteria for order is a tie. Traidos, wanna share?
Great to see MrBitter joining the event!
