Congrats to Classic for winning! Quite an insane day with only reverse all-kills, definitely awesome for Classic to be able to come in clutch against his arch-nemesis and the PvP god in sOs.

A well deserved victory

The Tastosis pass was real in that finals. Two reverse sweeps is incredible and Classic will be part of SC2 history no matter what happens in WCS.

Gonna be a killer tournemant.

At the beginning of the year he was praised as the #1 player, but he could not live quite up to the expectations. Then he faded away from the spotlight a bit, just to come back now with a bang. An experience like this right before Blizzcon might give him that little bit extra what he needs to win in Anaheim. I´m not a fan of Classic by any means, but when you reverse sweep the semis AND the finals, that must be a great confidence boost, and it makes the peope cheer for you. I´m looking forward to his performance at Blizzcon

"Despite suffering such an improbable defeat"

I like this, forgoing hyperbole. Since "such an improbable defeat" can be taken literally, it is still a strong statement.

the moment Tastosis talked about Classics chances after game 3 and that its nearly impossible for him to come back at that score ("especially against sOs") i just knew he will win this thing #Artosiscurse

Watching it live I was stoked for classic, but pretty sad for sOs (soul of sky????). Thinking about it now though, SOS kicked ass in the super tournament and made it to blizzcon, so that's nothing to be sad about. Good finals

Happy for classic. Arguably the best PvT in the world, Top 2-3 PvP, and he seems to be getting a lot better at PvZ.

Sadly, being the best PvT player in the world STILL doesn't protect you from Maru, PvP can go either way at the highest level no matter how good you are, and simply improving in PvZ isn't good enough against the best 2 Zergs in the world. RIP classic, please prove me wrong, but I don't think he makes it to the finals no matter how the seeding plays out.
Quick, think of some pithy cliche and toss it here

ok but is anyone else a *bit* disappointed in sOs for going blink stalker like 3 games in a row and losing every time he did? I feel like he kind of threw it away... the build's weaknesses were clear from the start; classic just made an extra couple immortals/archons and ended up overpowering him. it was kind of corny :/

Actually, I think that sOs showed how to dismantle Maru's style. The last couple of GSL's, he won just about every TvP through proxies. sOs was like, "Make a couple of shield batteries, and you get ahead." I think Korean protosses simply didn't know how good shield batteries are against Maru for what they cost, and now he's not going to be quite as dominant.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a force to be reckoned with, but sOs showed that he's definitely beatable.

Just look at how he's played against Zest.

Did you miss when he 4-1'd Classic and 4-0'd Zest without proxies every game?

I guess I'm clumping widow mine drop-centric play in with proxy stuffs. But you have to admit he's been playing cheesy. Especially against zest the 2nd time they met in GSL.

I remember the 4-1 against classic being especially solid

He didn't do any widow mine drops against Zest. He did it once against Classic (the only game he lost).

Must ignore games when raven still made late game tvp viable tho..no longer a possibility. Going to 100 still be a proxyfest at blizzcon ..hopefully sos didnt crack the code but it sure looked like it..was inevitable anyway.. toss wins blizzcon..sos or classic calling it now lol.

I won't say Maru lost on purpose, but it didn't look like he played like it was an ordinary GSL. He's probably happy with three GSLs and sOs had a shot at Blizzcon, but needed to get past Maru. Not that sOs can't beat Maru, but he did not look terribly engaged.

Cool finals with all seven games, even though it was PvP. A PvP with sOs is often a lot of fun. Now he gets another try at Blizzcon. He's been up and down a few years now, but can never be written off. It remains to be seen if he can pull of the wins needed to get deep in Blizzcon.
