Uh, screw that. I tracked down James "Mal" Song, the interviewer/translator from IEM Shanghai, and asked him to give us the dirty goods on what StarCraft II progamers are REALLY like. Mal has an incredible talent at becoming friends with progamers, and at every single event I've seen him at, he always ends up becoming the unofficial player manager through sheer force of charisma. I knew if there was anyone who could betray their trust and give us amazing stories, it was Mal (I'm joking. Or am I?). Anyway, the the sweet, sweet gossip included: How self-aware is INnoVation about his "machine" image, and is he milking it? Eating fried snake on the streets of Shanghai (tastes just like chicken) and paying for it later. Chinese tinder(?) adventures. Various things that ensure Mal will never get hired again. Also, it was hilarious to hear about Stats getting shit on by the other Koreans for losing to a foreigner. I can only imagine the shit TY got for losing to Kelazhur (probably why he tried so hard to stay in the game). Amazing stuff altogether, though I wish Mal's voice was a little clearer--it sounded like he was speaking underwater at times.
