Day 1 of IEM Katowice featured the first 2 of the 4 open brackets. Harstem was the first to make it out of bracket 1, and Stats quickly joined him, posting a perfect 6-0 record. With 2 Protoss through, the losers' bracket was dominated by Zerg; after a shaky start losing to Lambo in the upper bracket, Snute emerged victorious from the mirror match brawl. His final victory over teammate TLO came after a chaotic best of 3 in which he out Bly’d Bly; knocking the Ukrainian out of the competition with an endless ling flood that took advantage of his dodgy wall.
While Bracket 1 featured only 1 Terran, Bracket 2 contained only a pair of Protoss. The stream kicked off with a back and forward match between Elazer and SouL. Ultra/Infestor proved to be too much for his fellow Pole, though, and Elazer moved on despite some early 3rax reaper issues. His ZvT woes were only delayed though, as HeRoMaRinE sealed qualification in the next round, knocking Elazer down to the lower bracket.
On the other side of the bracket,uThermal secured his spot by thrashing PiLiPiLi. The Kazakhstani swiftly bounced back though, brushing bast Dayshi to fight for one final spot in the group stages against Elazer. Just a couple months after the latter had upset many on the way to the BlizzCon semifinals, it was PiLiPiLi's turn to play spoiler, pushing back the Polish zerg's aggression with carriers on Abyssal Reef before knocking down the front door with a good old immortal / sentry all-in to seal the final qualifier spot of the day.

Well I'm pretty sure he didn't hack in Katowice, not sure what he would gain from hacking on ladder. If he actually hack in other online tournament then it's a problem, if he hack sometime for fun on ladder then I don't really care honestly.
