Nice! Is it a big problem that Proleague is played during the weekends? Do we have a chance to see some Koreans there?

I am just afraid, that Dennis started this with great passion and plan to create an unofficial global event and this change of timing of Proleague practically destroyed his intentions ... I only hope, he will manage to create some good participation anyway ... even when if not, everybody will understand it after the Proleague change ... primarily when SKT is playing Jin Air during that weekend ...

I don't think any Proleauge player that has an important match to play would come, even if it was still on mon/tue. They could only fly back on monday and wouldn't be prepared. I think only some of the bigger teams who can spare a player would send someone regardless of the schedule change.

Yes ... let us hope ... e.g. if Trap / Cure could come if one of them was not nominated for the match vs SKT would be great, the same eventually with Inno / Dream / etc. ... :-)

SPL players are borderline impossible to get during the season anyway. Most people who tune in think that they are denied by this year's WCS format but in reality many tournies didn't have a lot of proleague players even when they could have koreans last year.

I don't think the quality of the tourney will be hurt too much by the shifted SPL dates and I'm super excited :D

Didn't Reality and Journey skip proleague once to play in Red bull archon matches? I don't think it's impossible for PL players to come if they want to.

SKT, Jin Air and KT are pretty save in the overall playoffs.

I guess if there will be ProLeague Players, we could see some of their teams.

It will be great for sure, if Dennis manages to get a few Koreans, that would be awesome, and if any of them would be even from a Kespa team, that would be absolutely amazing!

I am still dreaming about a few great, but not TOP class players, who would normally hardly find a spot in Proleague on that weekend, like Cure, Trap, Inno and similar ones ... I remember that always when this kind of players went to a tournament abroad and were successful in it, they came back and their team profited from their new seld confidence.

Inno would definitely be cool at HSC.

Its probably ultimately left up to the coaches whether they can go. Samsung has tended to be more lenient in the past in terms of letting players travel, but some teams would want their entire team at home even if the player isn't in the lineup, for practice reasons or whatever.

I think the format has something to do with it, there were a few players last year who were around 12th-20th in WCS points and went to every foreign tourney they could to squeeze out those few extra points.

I agree 100%. If I wanted to just watch foreigners compete, I can always watch WCS. We haven't had many international events this year with the changes. I would kill to have one of those weekender tournaments once more.
How awesome would it be to see TY, soO, Zest, herO etc. hanging out with all the HSC people.

I dont think kt or skt will send their main players even if they are invited. because the telecom derby thing, all they want is to win against their opponent even they are both saved for the playoff.

And just the fact that PL is more important to them, especially since it wouldn't even help get their players to Blizzcon or anything.

If people think watching hsc is about having the best quality games, they are having the wrong idea.

To me hsc has always been about the fun and banter. A place for everyone to have a good time. My favourite memories of hsc are not the games but the casting.

There will be Koreans for sure, we just don't know which and how many. NarutO does not like the current region lock and I am sure he is working hard to get some of the best players out to Krefeld. It's just not that easy to get them to come with GSL/SSL and Proleague going and HSC can't offer WCS points.

Still, I am sure there will be some Koreans among the players that have yet to be announced.

Edit: Also I think TRUE still counts as Korean, kinda overlooked him too though .

Absolutely, I agree with that. It's still nice to see some of the best games on the last day and a great final like Flash vs Parting will always be a highlight.

I don't expect big KR names attending during PL season.
Maybe some Afreeca/Samsung/MVP guys like Keen, Journey, Billowy that are not used as much in PL(Keen not even on PL roster).
Parting is also a possibility.
SKT could let go someone like Impact or Zoun but no soO, Inno etc.

Actually Keen is very likely, since he played in the KR qualifier and lost 2:3 to TRUE in the final. So at least he is willing to come and Afreeca seems willing to pay for his trip.

Well, everybody loves HSC because it is what it is. But after Dennis announced, he does not follow the WCS rules, everybody has expected this year's HSC to be the best tournament of the year, the first real unofficial Global Event ...

But with the Proleague timing change, it might not be the case anymore ... so we all somehow hope, he will still manage to do it. Even just having KeeN and ByuN would be great!!! Sad that MC will miss it as a showmaker, but we are all happy to have him in SPL. Let's hope, Dennis surprises us with some big fish!

how on Earth can you blame Blizzard for KR players not attending non-WCS event during Korean Proleague season?
do you seriously think Blizzard is forcing Kespa teams not to allow their best players to attend HSC? And I repeat, during season.

how paranoid are you?

Last year there was 0 KeSPA players, what makes you think this year will be different?

Because this year, it is the only tournament abroad with decent prize pool, where they are allowed to participate.

The only reason last HSC had no Kespa koreans was because of SpoTV sheduling the SSL Qualifiers on the same date as the HSC.

Following this, Zest, Solar, and some B-Teamers of KT and Samsung canceled their flights.

This year it is only one week of ProLeague and KT, SKT and Jin Air are almost save in the final playoffs.

I think I prefer it with no Koreans so the result is completely up in the air.

More invites have been announced:

(P)ShoWTimE
(P)PtitDrogo
(P)Harstem
(P)MaNa
(T)MarineLorD
(Z)Elazer
(Z)Stephano

(P)PartinG still has to be replaced.

You can guess 4 more players that have been invited but have yet to be revealed!

If you can guess all 4 players and comment on Facebook you might win a LotV Collectors Edition!

Edit: Okay, my guess:

(Z)Scarlett, (T)HeRoMaRinE, (P)NightEnD, (P)DnS.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

okay, we get it, some people only like to watch koreans. can they stop posting in every single thread of every single non korean event that they aren't going to watch it? can they stop getting mad at events that dont have korean people for existing?

if you want to show your disinterest then just avoid the threads and the organizers will know people are avoiding them from the lack of posts. yelling at them that there are no koreans doesn't do anything. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put together that higher level players will attract some viewers, but organizers aren't always able to work with higher level players.

Any chance that Gretorp and the rest of the NASL team will do an emotional reunion broadcast? IncontroL can do an announcement of an announcement to get us all worked up. I miss those days. Now we must look to the future of awesome Starcraft casting and Homestory Cup never disappoints. But MC joining a team probably means he won't be there. I hope that Basetrade gets some love again. Rifkin and Zombiegrub always deliver the fun. Can't wait to watch.

Always annoying when a person like Nathanias is casting... I actually think he is a disgrace to the sc2 scene. If he were just some streamer i would only consider him a douchebag. But its sad to see people like him getting this coverage.

Apart from this I am looking forward to HSC!

Good post.
Stopped watching ESL content in 2022 when the company was acquired by Savvy Gaming Group. Also object to sponsorships by the U.S. Air Force. Thanks for the lively discussions about sportswashing. StarCraft II is not for me anymore.
