Round 1 of the 2016 SK telecom Proleague ended today with the Afreeca Freecs securing the last available spot in the playoffs. They were up against the wall in their last match against MVP Chickenmaru, as a single map loss would have meant the end of their run and the qualification of SAMSUNG Galaxy in their stead.
However Afreeca were able to go undefeated with Super, Curious and Bomber winning their games against GuMiho, DeParture and Forte respectively. SAMSUNG even helped MVP practice for this match, as Coach Stork stated in a short telephone interview during the match, but in the end this wasn’t enough to advance into the playoffs.
The Afreeca Freecs thus join KT Rolster, Jin Air Green Wings and SK Telecom T1 in the Round 1 Playoffs. As usual, expect matches to be held on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday next week.

see impact vs rogue in yesterday's JAG vs SKTT1. He used the same build and could have won if he hadn't been outplayed so much in mid and late game.

why in gods name isnt Life palying for afreeca? didnt he switch to that team? did i miss something? hes my fav player atm and i havent seen him paly in weeks/months

Congratulations to Afreeca Freecs~! I feel good for them that they advanced to playoffs. Now they can redeem themselves for that walkover loss during last year's SPL where they couldn't make the match because of a traffic jam.

herO got multiple warnings because he failed at setting up his hotkeys. One time that lead to a 25 minute delay because he was blaming it on the hardware and they replaced it only to then find out it was herO's mistake all along.

No one knows. You could look at it either way to be honest. Either the fact there has been no word he's been charged or banned yet is Good for Life or the fact there's been no word he's been released and hasn't been seen since the whole thing happened is Bad for Life. But anything at this point is speculation till the investigation ends

Exactly, it was supposed to be such a great week! sOs, Maru and Rogue on Monday, on Tuesday and hopefully also on Saturday ... while now, it will be only Tuesday and we need to hope, they will somehow manage to beat TY and Zest so that we can see them on Saturday as well ...

In any case, if KT gets to the semifinals, all the matches in any combination of TY, Zest, sOs and Maru will be great! And don't forget that Zest does not have much chance against sOs because he did not learn yet, how to use carriers with the mothership :-)

In any case, if KT gets to the semifinals, all the matches in any combination of TY, Zest, sOs and Maru will be great! And don't forget that Zest does not have much chance against sOs because he did not learn yet, how to use carriers with the mothership :-)
Or in the worst case for JA, they are down 0-3 then sOs will switch to $$$ mode again to reverse AK KT like he did before

Anything could happen since it is PO I don't think KT's momentum is good right now as they lost to a team that already out of PO They really need to adjust their attitude to play serious against any team even Afreeca seems "weaker" than KT. Otherwise what happened to KT this week will happen again next week

This would have looked really bad if herO hadn't won all three of the games he caused delays in*. How can you stay mad at a guy who looks this unstoppable in Proleague?
*three delays in one night, which is where he got the warnings, and two more on other nights which he didn't get warned for because he fixed them before the game started, but it still caused delays
So just curious and not sure where else to ask this. Is Pro league now held at the same location as GSL? I'm currently in Korea and already went to the GSL to see group H. Have to get to see pro league still though.

Afaik Proleague is still held at the Nexon Arena (different place from GSL).
Nice feel good story for the new AF team and their limited roster. Quite the accomplishment making the R1 playoffs to start out.
Sad for Samsung though. Such an exciting and talented team. Should be doing much better w/ their depth and star power. Hoping to see them bounce back in R2 and ultimately make it to the season ending playoffs.
