Hey guys, it is time for another community power ranking! This will be the first edition for LOTV and thus it will be quite interesting to see what the community thinks. Today was the last day of code a, we pretty much saw every notable player, so let's try to do this
What i want you to do:
Post your own power ranking in this thread, 10 players only, sorted by their current strength in LOTV. I will only count 'serious' lists, putting in Boxer won't do it
So how would it work?
It's pretty simple, just post your top 10 in this thread. I will go through every post and add the points up. The point distribution will be like that:
1. place = 10 points 2. place = 9 points 3. place = 8 points etc.
How much time do i have to post the list?
You will have ten days, which means i will count every list which is posted till February 14 (including sunday)
Feel free to discuss your rankings in this thread, if you have extra passion you also can write a short text for your favorite player and post it in here as well (it would be used for the final standings)
Reminder: You can change your list as often as you like, but i will only count the first list you posted in this thread (which means you should edit your post )
Thought about it. Can't really do it, a lot of it is too close to call, and some players we've not really seen enough yet. I'd put TY at #1, Solar at #2 and then roll a dice for everyone after. I guess it would be some ensemble including herO, Classic, sOs, Zest, Dear & Dark.
It being close to call is part of this one, we've had a lot of online play, qualifiers, gsl pre season, etc to see the players already. I think it is fun to see if the actual power rank will be close to the results which will come in in the next 1-2 months. It is totally expected that this one won't be as "accurate" (but i also don't want to wait a lot longer, the next 'good time' for the ranking would be after gsl/ssl is done most likely.)
Just try it guys Maybe i should change it from 10 to 5-7 players?

Just as an example, MyuNgSiK looked incredible in Pre-Season. In Starleague he looked like a joke. Within 1 month of each other. That kind of stuff makes it hard to judge :/
1. TY 2. Solar 3. Zest 4. Maru 5. Soulkey 6. ByuN 7. Hurricane 8. Dear 9. RagnaroK 10. Dark
Waaaay early to do a list like this, but this is what I'd put down. Top 3 is very obviously TY/Solar/Zest, and then Maru/Soulkey/ByuN/Hurricane form the next tier of competition from what I've seen.

three months is good enough It is hard for sure, but i feel like we have seen enough games already (qualifiers, gsl pre season, online, code a, ssl, proleague, dreamhack, iem, quite a lot actually) I am 100% sure that it won't be extremely accurate though, but that's half the fun this time. After GSL/SSL conclude we see where the champions rank in this first LOTV power rank. The next one will already be a lot 'better' Teamliquid kinda stopped with the power rank format alltogether (which is why i started doing this btw), which is a shame
You also don't have to post a list, it would be nice if you guys tried though, this time (as templar said) you probably need some form of research though, which is arguably a good thing tbh.
Okay I'm no expert in LotV but let it be : 1. TY : undisputed könig of the game right now. He's killing it, he has both the style and the results. It's really too bad he couldn't be good in time for the SSL qualifers. 2. ByuN : I would have put him undisputed #1 one month ago. Now he's very slowly declining, though the kid can fight with TY for best Terran of 2016 for sure. 3. Zest : The bicepstoss is on the rise again, and he'll destroy any poor soul standing in his way. I feel like with FlaSh gone, he'll be the undisputed KT symbol and he's ready to get the result to back up that status. 4. Dark : I hate to admit it, but LotV seems to really suit him, and he might just be the 2016 Zest like ByuL was in 2015 and soO in 2014. 5. aLive : Surprisingly good in the beginning of this year. Will we forget him again in two weeks? Maybe, but for now he's definitely top5. 6. Solar : The kid is solid, though I'm disappointed because he looked way stronger at the very beginning of LotV. Now it's mostly his ZvZ looking god-tier and his other matchup being okay. 7. ByuL : Madness is back. Prepare yourselves. 8. Ragnarok : ByuL's assistant is overperforming this season, getting into Code A and killing Slumpovation and ByuN in SSL. I'm impressed. 9. DeParture : Another Zerg showing potential. 10. TaeJa : Come on, getting into Code S when you've been inactive for a year and are looked upon as a shitty overrated player is impressive. And I'm a TaeJa hater. Special mention : Classic, but I didn't find space for him on the list. I guess he'll always live underrated.
ok so this is what I think 1. TY: isn't this obvious? he's based god TY. His play is simply amazing. Now that PvT is fixed, I think he's going to slay it. 2. Zest: his ProLeague game vs Dear was amazing, he only made a few micro mistakes. Then come the series with Maru, seriously, the Kingslayer is back 3. Solar. He's very solid I think, not the best out there anymore since people are figuring him out, but his games still convince me that he's damn amazing. 4. herO. Even though his PvP is weak, his other MU are amazing. I have high hope in him. 5. Maru. His ProLeague game convinced me he's that good, also the series against Zest was good as well, only that Zest was better. 6. ByuN. He's very good, but there's something in him that is lacking. 7. RagnaroK. His GSL series convinced me. He should be very good. 8. aLive. His form is crazy these days. He's so good. 9. Losira. He's very very good these days. I trust him to help carry KT to victory. 10. Stork. Who would have thought. His series today is so damn amazing. I trust in the last dragon to bring us to glory again.
I'm going to base this on the games that I've seen mostly, obiously done research as well but I won't rank someone high just because of aligulac ranking or lots of wins recently.
1) TY 2) Zest 3) Dear 4) Solar 5) aLive 6) sOs 7) ByuN 8) Classic 9) Rogue 10) Departure
We have nothing to indicate Maru or Inno is actually high up atm. soO might be strong but I haven't seen so much impressive play from him yet. I have seen Departure play amazingly though, he is on the up and up take my word for it!

i have a strange affection for alive because right when i started following HOTS and didn't have a handle on who the true top players were the first thing i watched was WCS AM with axeltoss and axslav, and he was one of the koreans competing in it at that time. as i learned the scene better i gradually realized he wasn't actually one of the best players, so it was kind of sad for me. same thing with Revival (retire in peace)
very awesome and nostalgic for me to see him doing well
1. Solar (No bias I swear) 2. TY 3. herO (Shaky in PvP but very strong in other matchups) 4. sOs 5. Zest 6. ByuN (Suffered 3 major defeats in the last few days, but still strong. King of the Beta, will likely fall off over the next few months) 7. Classic 8. Dark 9. Journey 10. aLive Not to many Korean results to base this off of 0_o
you should bump this maybe when there's another 3 months to go on. hard, i know but it's seriously much too early to see the top match up against each other and do some real comparisons.
looking strictly at who qualified for Code S
1 Ty 2 sOs 3 Solar 4 Zest/Classic 5 soO 6 byun
followed by combinations of alive, speed (really impressed by his qualification play), dark, hero
you need to consider that there are some players who really shine with preparation and matchup practice. being in Code S is a major deal not only for the possibly prize purse but for the purpose of playing top level games with top level conditioning and top level practice. it'll help the players groom themselves for the months ahead.
players like dark, soo, sos, ty, solar are people i really peg as preparation players who figure out a style that works well.
1 Zest is the best cause nothing seems to weaken him. He's just incredibly strong in any match up 2 TY - godly, but isn't it too late to become a champion at last? 3 sOs -always there when there is something to win...
okay this i the top 3, beyond this I'm really not sure, the order is semi random and probably wrong...
4 dear 5 solar 6 Classic 7 ByuN 8 soO 9 herO 10 Dark

I suppose we will have the answer after both individual leagues end, or will you wait for the ProLeague as well before deciding who was the closest to reality?
indeed very hard to make, but as i said before that is kinda the fun part for this one. Will be interesting to see the final result and how it matches up with reality (ssl/gsl)
I'm happy with top 3, even though I would be happier if Zest had a higher place, also not that many people vote, hopefully we can do sth like this once GSL/SSL is over

I will do the next edition when GSL/SSL is over I simply don't want to wait too long in between, the last one was around blizzcon
Since the adept patch, SC2 is ruled by 2 monsters. One of 'em is protoss and just won the gsl the other is a terran undefeated in proleague. If they both keep the same level, the clash of titans will be unavoidable. Can't wati.
