It appears as though PartinG has chosen to not extend his contract with Yoe Flash Wolves. Why is not certain for now but rumors of both retirement and joining a KeSPA team have been thrown around in recent weeks.

I think he was back in Korea for Nation Wars, but that could be wrong

Which KeSPA team would take him? He can't play in PL and he's not in SSL or GSL

Obviously T1.

Though Samsung would be perfect for him. Samsung has interests abroad so he could travel for, ehm, some of the global tourneys(if there will be any).

I still think he will retire. Because what other reason there could be to stop his RO16 GSL streak without trying?

He did say he was just taking a break about a week ago. Not that that really says much.

Hopefully he sticks around, but I guess it'd have to be another foreign team.

He took a break so Parting could have received a Parting award? Sick city!

Maybe they will allow the banned ones to play to make sure Proleague has 8 teams.

IIRC It's not KeSPA but T1. T1 has his contract on PL for next few years.

I assume there still hasn't been any word about PL? Looking like a late start this year..

No, nothing yet. I heard in December it was supposed to start in January but so far we're in the dark. I was hoping they'd announce something (media day) this week but that's not looking too hot.

I guess the fact that both Prime and Axiom died and that Proleague finished later than usual (finished in October, usually Proleague finishes in like August) doesn't help either.

knowing KeSPA you're in for a last minute announcement, they're gonna be like,"hey guys this is the format/teams etc etc, we starting next week, boom."

Ugh, the last thing we need right now is another high profile retirement. I hope he solves the issue with SKT and plays in Proleague, or just joins SKT again.

If you guys want the truth, and you have my permission to put this in the OP...

I had a talk with 4Leaf (owner of flash wolves) back in October of this year when I went to their training house to do some interviews with the LoL team.

He told me that parting sees no future in Starcraft 2.

Parting will not retire and keep playing sc2.

Edit: I think a chinese team and growing his douyutv stream makes sense.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Out of curiosity
How does he communicate to observers on his stream? He probably knows few traditional characters but likely can't communicate in Mandarin, just curious. From my limited experience with douyu it looks more like streamers stream and have almost no interactions with the viewers.
How are the stream numbers for douyu? At least for WC3 and Moba content there seems to be more viewers than twitch, is it true for sc2 as well?

I don't see the point in Parting coming back to Korea, banned from PL is too rough imo. With practically everyone downsizing their rosters is there a Chinese team that can give him the salary he wants?

I can only tell you that the viewership is indeed bigger than on twitch, even for sc2. MMA just started streaming there and had 8k viewers. I think Parting had above 10 or 15k before.

They seem to be talking a mixture of korean and english, throwing in a chinese word here and there .

I've seen someone saying that viewer numbers on douyu can be manipulated, told to "divide by 10" or something similar. I wonder how much of it it's true, I don't believe it personally. Probably some western twitch syndrome hehe

Don't take Douyu's viewer number seriously. Even Douyu's website marks the number as 人气值("popularity") instead of "viewer count". My guess is that the number is some sort of cumulative view count over a period of time, so it always larger than real viewer number at a certain moment.
But judging from the activity of the chat the real viewer count should be okay and Douyu seems to pay well, as the steaming sites in China are competing quite furiously right now to get popular streamers.

I'm shocked, they can read the chat? I haven't seen more than a word of english on any douyu chat so I assume it is in Chinese.

I think it is a good transition, it seemed to work wonders for LoL why not SC2?
Is this even "legal" under the rules set by Blizzard though? Can Chinese scene hold tournaments that have Koreans in them without going "global"?

Edit: I think a chinese team and growing his douyutv stream makes sense.

What? You mean without having any connection to WCS at all? It happens all the time in China. It happened last year with WEC and the most recent tournament with Flash, JD, Lilbow, snute, those guys.

I guess he'll end up in China?

As an aside, I keep seeing people mention that the team is no longer called YoeFW and just FW, this might be for their LoL team only though idk.

Pulling a Rain, pulling a Dear, or China.

A foreign team seems highly unlikely given he wouldnt be allowed to rock Dreamhacks and IEMs.

The most unsurprising news this week. He's in a shitty place now. I can't see many Korean teams interested in picking him up unless SKT somehow allow him to play in Proleague. And he's not in GSL or SSL either.

Why doesn't KESPA just make a new team league tournament with the same exact format as Proleague and just add, I don't know, a hyphen so it has almost exactly the same name, but since it's different the banned players can play and everyone will be happy except SKT?

Its a KeSPA rule in the first place..

They don't need Parting that bad anyway. Soulkey is the only other one involved with the rule left and he seems fine on TCM.

Is he? Rain was going to retire in 2015 but then decided to try the foreign scene instead. You're SURE that if he could keep playing abroad, and making mad stacks of cash while he's at it, he wouldn't have changed his mind yet again? You're POSITIVE?

If PartinG doesn't find a way to be relevant this year, fuck everything.

Let's not kid ourselves here, it's very possible that at least FlaSh and FanTaSy were considering it for a while given how long they've been playing SC, their accomplishments, their relative slumps recently etc. That and I'd wager their salaries were far above average even with that in mind.

PartinG will NOT sign with X-Team, like some people mentioned in this thread. Xiaose has ruled out that possibility on NeoTV forum (he mentioned something about salary cap, and how all the Chinese teams should be at similar levels for the team league to be fun).

It is rumored that PartinG was negotiating with iG so that he could keep participating in foreign events. But even if such a negotiation did take place, it does't seem likely at this point that PartinG would sign with iG.

iG is not going to have a huge budget on their SC2 team, that is very very unlikely from a reality perspective, he does have a pretty great relationship with them.

Yeah as much as I like SKT and like PartinG, I don't feel those two fit all that well.
However I would love to see him back in PL again. It'd be exciting no matter what team he joined.

So a few simple neutral statements of fact leads to completely wild accusations of racism and negationism. That's reasonable and fair.
