As of now, the Kickstarter for BasetradeTV's Hell, it's Aboot Time tournament will reward you with an ingame portrait for SC2! Anyone that supports them with $5 or more will receive it.
This is the first time Blizzard offers an ingame reward for fans that support a SC2 tournament. If this is only the start and Blizzard offers more ingame rewards in the future, this could be very big news!
Support the event and get your exclusive ingame portrait!
More pictures of the portrait in case you can not see the tweet:

Update July 7th:
The Indiegogo option with Paypal is now available for anybody who missed the Kickstarter, or has no credit card.

Damn that's actually really awesome. Tempted to support even tho I never even play SC2 anymore :D
|
I'm going to spend some money. I hope Blizzard will release more of this stuff (maybe skins) in the future
|
Wow, so easy and this will be so effective. We need more of this.
|
Very good first step, glad they finally try it out.
|
good idea .I hope it pays out .
|
Is this a Canadian Marine? Man, it rocks
|
That's super cool, I hope other tournaments can get in on this.
|
I'm really surprised this hasn't been done before but it couldn't have happened to more deserving people. I still think that Blizzard should shamelessly steal from Riot and sell team icons. It would be great for them to make a bit more money and it would be great for teams and sponsors. Imagine if a team could go to a sponsor and say "We have X amount of people on ladder using our logo and for y amount of sponsorship $ they could have your name on it". Like a TL HyperX logo instead of just TL ect

Also to promote chatting if you had the Team logo by your name in chat, would love to chat with a liquid horse by my name. Would really be cool way to support the game and your favourite teams.

this is awesome, I hope a lot of people buy it and Blizzard decides to offer it to more events!

Ah ok, just thought maybe I did it wrong or something.

Done and done! This will also be an excuse to start laddering again, with my sweet new portrait.
|
it's great but at the same time it makes me mad how late it is... fucking hell blizzard
|
The sad thing is that they only accept credit card, I can't get the portrait and support the event. Lots of Germans will miss out. Indiegogo next time please!

Since this is the first time you can pay money and get an ingame reward for sc2 (Edit: or rather the first time for supporting a tournament), I think this is huge and should be community news. So I'm bumping this.
|
Wow, this is big news. And judging from the replies in this thread, it works wonders! :o + Show Spoiler +wtb ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/IWAZ5IJ.png)

Really, can you elaborate? When was this done before (apart from collector's edition or buying other blizzard games)? Certainly the first time for supporting a tournament though right?
I mean the communtiy has been begging for something like this since the compendium in Dota. Imagine if you'd get a GSL portrait for subbing to them, they could do a new one every season, or if they boost the BlizzCon prize money with something like this. The implications are huge. I don't think we'll get skins any time soon, but it's a great first step.
|
Does anyone know how to gift the portrait to someone else? I don't play sc2 so would like to give the thing to whoever wants it here. Can't figure it out in Kickstarter.
|
|
I wanted a picture of ZG and Rifkin, aww
|
Well I pledged and it said I'll be charged on June 28. If it is easily transferred via email I'll send it to whoever wants it when I get it.

Well that's cool, although I think I'll stick with my current portrait.

I might take you up on that offer if it works, since like most Germans I don't have a credit card and can't pledge. I could send you 5 bucks via paypal .

Btw, they are the best looking portraits in the whole game.
And I have none

In fact, it's a pretty small scale thing, so having Blizzard give a completely custom portrait specifically for backing the KS is quite surprising.

How come that "most Germand don't have credit cards"? How do you, you know ... pay for things? Don't you have at least the normal European debit cards, that naive americans usually accept as credit cards without a doubt? (And kickstarter explicitely accepts VISA and MC debit cards as well.)

Great to see that the event got so well funded! and the extra effort from Blizzard. Go Basetrade!!

Yeah we use EC-Cards/Giro-Cards if we don't want to pay cash if that's what you mean by European debit cards. Also a direct debiting system for online shopping at Amazon for example and of course Paypal. Credit Cards are slowly spreading in Germany, but I think most people don't like to pay for a service that's not really needed and don't see why there has to be another company between the seller and your bank.
You also just don't need them unless you travel alot since you have your EC-Card/Giro-Card and "direct debiting" ("Lastschriftverfahren" in German) or Paypal for online banking.

Hmm cool, but not really interested in paying for portraits.
