Hey fellas,
Giacomo "Socke" Thüs leaves Team XMG effect immediatly, which also means that there is no more Team XMG - We had a really good time and a good run in Starcraft II and we do not exclude the possibility of getting a new player or team in the future, but for now our Starcraft II endavours come to an end. With Socke leaving, we end a chapter, that was a lot of fun and made my job very, very enjoyable
I can tell you, from the bottom of my heart, that Giacomo is one of the most fun people to be hanging out with. We shared a lot of really cool experiences and I am very happy that he decided to stick around for a while longer. I wish him the best of luck in Heroes of the Storm, XMG as a whole is quite certain, that after his glorious Starcraft II /Hearthstone career he has yet not reached his limits and will entertain us for the next couple of years to come. Should he ever return to RTS, XMG will always have a rosterslot reserved for him.
Here is what Socke had to say (he is normally not a man of many words, but wise they are - always")

"Hello everyone!
Since I have been delving more into Heroes of the Storm than Heart of the Swarm (Would love to be able to use abbreviations here) over the last months, I will be parting ways with XMG for now to play Heroes under a different flag. A big thank you to XMG for supporting me for the last year and a half in my Starcraft2 endeavours, I couldn't have asked for more in a team, shoutout to Chris especially for enduring my intense fits of rage after tournament losses so well.
I will be playing a lot of Heroes of the Storm in the next months to come with my teammates in WELL MET, but you can be sure to expect me Tarsonstyle at HSC for example, so I won't be wholly gone from the world of SC2. I will also be having an eye on LotV and its development, so that might happen as well. I'm definitely not the youngest anymore, but if/when I say goodbye to esports or SC2 completely I'll definitely make a more sentimental post. If one can come back after a ~7 year hiatus from SC1 to SC2, who's to say what may happen in the future though.
Shoutout to everyone who's been following and supporting me along the last couple of years, let's see what's still to come.
tl;dr: no more hots, hots now instead. lotv?"
Players that served under XMG (we are so proud of any single one of them):
Daniel "XlorD" Spenst
Philipp "monchi" Simon
Bastian "SaltTheWound" Brouwers
Yoan "ToD" Merlo
David "Lilbow" Moschetto
Giacomo "Socke" Thüs
Ye we were kind of Protoss heavy. Deal with it.
HomeStoryCup
Sadly we also have to say good by to a tournament that we loved more than anyone else in the world. HomeStoryCup was a great experience for 10 episodes and we had a hell lot of fun, so we are happy to make room for other companies to show their love for the game and TakeTV. Be ensured that we still play a role and are in close contact to TaKeTV to suprise you with formats and plans in the future
Dreamhack Germany
Last but not least: (we actually made a poll, but screw it - we will have Starcraft II. Period.)
XMG continues to try to get you Starcraft II content in the forseeable future. It so happens that we work quite hard on the new found Dreamhack Germany. And Starcraft II will have a place there. You got my word.
OH - and here are our poll results

sad for socke, but holy shit i'm way sadder for HSC
good luck to all involved in their future endeavours.

Good luck with Heroes Socke! And yay sc2 at DH Leipzig, thanks XMG, keep doing what you do .
|
Really interesting that SCII can still rock a poll pretty hard given our small player base. We get shit done!
|
Seems like a lot of SC2 players are taking this path, sad to see you go though Socke! Best of luck to you in the future, you were always a great player.

Sad for Socke, but with Hasu saying, that they plan to make the next step with WELL MET, it seems to be only the logical consequence. Good luck in Heroes Socke, I'll probably watch a bit of WELL MET's matches in the future.

Good luck, Socke! Thanks for all the fun!
And: Time to book DH Leipzig and see SC2 in action!!
|
This also means that ToD is teamless.

Hah! Thanks for the support, glad to see Starcraft 2 in as many DreamHacks as possible.

He's doing commentary for the Heroes tournament at DreamHack this weekend maybe everyone is just going to that game.
Best of luck to Socke in the future! Good to see Leipzig will have SC2 for sure.

haha i like the extra stats on the poll. :D Fare well to socke!

So what other games are going to be at DreamHack Leipzig?
|
|
see you around again sometime hopefully, when all passion has been regained

GL to him and I like his mentality. It's just stupid to say you retire from SC2 when there's a possibility you come back for LotV.

Maybe a little out of topic, but My personal favorite games to watch and follow:
Starcraft II Halo Super Smash Brothers Melee (Sm4sh is also great)
CSGO has too many fans and its very different from Halo so I'm fine with it as well.
For Moba, thats a toughy. I've followed the most the Dota 2 scene, and I quite enjoyed, but lately I haven't heard anything from it.
