Well, I'll be honest, probably not alone, but Naniwa streaming was probably the first time I watch a player personal stream in 2 years.
Naniwa was just being douchey and it was funny to watch for a while. Would probably get boring after a while tho, which could explain why he only did 17h anyway.

Sc2 is really one of the worst kind of game to stream yourself, because you need to give up all stream interaction during the games. so I really don't know who watch personal stream beside :

1. People that are fan of a player and are there to hear the few reactions thrown around
2. People trying to get better at the game

That's really a niche number of people.

People who still question winter simply have no idea about streaming on twitch as a whole.
Maybe you guys should actually start watching streams outside of esports to get an idea what people like to see these days.

The viewbots seem to still do wonders for Winter...

Ok, I'll take the bait. I find it hard to believe that Twitch would write checks every month to someone with phantom viewers. I would think by now that they would have the algorithms and detection methods in place to detect constant view botting. Could you maybe get away with it once or twice here and there? Sure, but not on a consistent basis. Call me naive, if you will, but that's just my 0.02.

On a side note, let's assume every Winter viewer is real. What is the appeal of watching a master league player intentionally humiliate players far below his skill level? Winter can play the game however he wants, I just don't get the attraction for all that watch him. Maybe I'm missing something.

Ok, the viewbot idea is kinda silly. But you have to wonder why a chat why 3K has 10x less activity then let's say Huk's stream when he has 300 viewers.

No clue as to why someone would watch Winter either

This is discussed and answered every month. Go look at previous threads for comprehensive explanations.

What was the cause of HuK getting 8.9k viewers? Seems pretty cool, just by looking at the number atleast.

he's 29th/37th.... just mismarked as Terran.

Not he's not, don't insult conti like that. He knows the difference between the 2 rains. the MYI rain is the highest level protoss who was pulling in 1200-2500 viewers at a time. The terran rain on this list pulled in 400-500 viewers. If anything he just marked the wrong team for the rain on the list.

Actually, insults are perfectly in order here, as it turns out. Looks like my script decided that Rain and Rain were the same person and mixed their numbers together. My bad!

I've updated the rankings with the new data. MYI Rain made it into the rankings, while former Fnatic Rain unfortunately did not (with 119 viewers on average).

Sorry, Rain and Rain.

Soulkey did not stream for more than 5 hours last month, so he did not appear in the rankings. As for Rain, see above, that was my bad.

Totalbiscuit hosted HuK's stream after LOTV tournament.

if you really think a nobody random master player who trolls silver and gold players gets more viewers than player like taeja rain, huk, snute, stephano etc. i really don't know what to say.
Surprised he still gets away with it.

I watch a lot of Twitch outside SC2. If you claim that isn't the type of thing that will get a lot of views on Twitch, then you have no idea what you're talking about.

Man these numbers are disappointing, a lot of these guys who are dependent on stream revenue will soon have to look for 2nd job.
Huk averaging 800 viewers is disgusting, a guy with his personality and level of play should be getting much higher. I remember back in the day he would easily get 5k+ viewers every time he streamed.

These numbers are quite sad, seems like esports is growing and sc2 is declining. Destiny must feel like a prophet right now. I seriously hope Blizzard makes legacy of the void free to play.

This so much. probably the only thing which will save sc2 at this point.
Of course it won't die anytime soon but sc2 deserves better than being in the shadow of trash games like lol and dota.
