Chuddinater has clarified the reason for their withdrawal

On November 20 2014 10:51 Chuddinater wrote:
I would like to clarify the reason why herO, soO, and Innovation are withdrawing from DH Winter. The fatigue of travel has finally caught up to them and they would like some time to rest and recuperate. This decision in no part was made by KeSPA or the teams, but solely by the players.

Also, I would like to point out that Solar is still attending DH Winter and wish him the best of luck.

Kespa players (P)herO, (T)INnoVation and (Z)soO have forfeited their spots at the upcoming Dreamhack Winter tournament due to scheduling conflicts.

They will be replaced by (T)Bunny, (P)Patience and (T)Polt.

Furthermore, Tasteless can't attend the event due to a knee injury.

Ouch that hurts. 3 top players out of DH Winter isn't great.
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Yup. Polt is a decent replacement, Bunny at least is a good foreigner so some people might even be happy about this. I'm not though, but I guess it can't be helped.

Both herO and sOO are out of Hot6 cup.. Why are they withdrawing? Are there more tournaments in Korea that I don't know of?

As far as last second replacements go polt/bunny/patience aren't that bad. A massive step down from the kespa trio though.

Hot6ix Cup wouldn't even conflict with dreamhack in the first place tough?

I guess. Don't get me wrong, Bunny is the best foreigner right now and Polt is always fun to watch, but I also love to see 3 good Kespa players beat on some nerds.

I don't think Bunny is the best foreigner right now, stats-wise.
And about the news well that's really sad. Well at least the replacing players are cool and all but it denies soO the last opportunity for him to win something this year :/ I wonder who took that decision

I wonder why they withdrawed though? INno for hot6ix maybe but herO and soO? Seems sad they aint going after qualifying for this, I was super excited for this DH and now while still good kinda deflated for me.

soOs form was so weak in the last weaks. I think it is better for all to replace him, he will need a bootcamp with psychological support.

INno and herO not attending is sad, but hey, Polt and Patience can speak englisch at least. And dont get proxygated. And dont forget to repair important bunkers..
And with Bunny the foreign hope is 100% bigger!.

Not sooo bad news.

So CJ vs SKT SPL Opening night same time as DH?

Or SKT has finally decided to sacrifice soO to give Inno a reboot.

The number of foreigners suddenly increased by 100%. I have a hard time to understand these withdraws though (besides INno). Maybe their coaches wanted them at home to practice but preventing them to go to a 75k$ tournament seems... harsh.

Good news for ForGG though.

Depends man, bracket luck and such.
MMA almost won blizzcon, no way he would do that well in GSL for example.

That makes no sense to me at all.
If i am into something i obviously want to have the best qulity possible.
That is like saying "someone who doesn't like eating fast food isn't a fan of eating" (hehe).
If anything i would argue someone who cheers for specific players (and only them) is no fan of said sport.

The replacements are based on players who were 5-8th/etc in the respective events these guys won their seeds through. Ryung, Polt and MaNa competed for the second replacement slot from DH Stockholm. (Bunny replaced Inno because of Bucharest results, and Polt/Patience from Stockholm).

After watching yesterday's Hot6 games, I can't help but feel that soO actually made the decision to bow out. Regardless of whether Shellshock is right and that "top 2 at GSL top 16 everwhere else" is a real thing for soO, to soO's brain a ro16 finish must still feel like a 16th place finish - ie, awful.

I hope he can get his mind right on SKT. Failing that, there's always MVP.

Kespa strikes once again . Only excuse here if players dont want to travel and are tired after long year otherwise this is sad for whole DHwinter. Replacements cool but quality of tournament goes down.

Well this is really disappointing....I don't watch much Korean scene starcraft so I was really looking forward to watching inno and soO
Polt and bunny are decent replacements I guess, I hope they can get a solid result.

Aww. What a shame but really all the traveling some of these guys do shows how they are as skilled as the players who remain in Korea and hone their skills, just in a different way. Jetlag and sleep deprivation are powerful foes too

Exact translation:

BlizzCon this condition since been anhage did not go on to recover at the end consult with the bishop attend the DreamHack ;; Condition geodulsu good grades so I'll recover in the next IEM tournament. Sorry Him dram nuclear officials and fans

There you have it, he consulted with the bishop and is very sorry for the nuclear officials.

Anyway, thanks for the translation, lichter

I think I mostly get why they picked who they did as replacements. Bunny replaces Innovation, as he was a Top 8 finisher in the Dreamhack Innovation qualified in, while the rest of the Top 8 finishers already had a spot. herO and soO both qualified from Dreamhack Stockholm, so they gave one spot to Patience, the remaining non-qualified competitor in that Top 8, and Polt, the Top 16 knockout who...was the most Polt? I dunno exactly on that one.

well if you dont appriciate starcraft for the gamequality but get your joys from shouting USA USA etc or youre all about the "foreigner vs korean" drivel then I guess youre happy about it.

People that only watch the highest quality of a sport are generally not that big of a fan of said sport.

Okay. Im just going to leave you hanging with that comment.
Also, some people think green doors are not as pretty as blue doors, there we go, now our commenting relevance is equal.

Yes, because that what most sports fan do. Support for the "highest quality" team, rather than their favorite one. Get off your high horse.

This indicates how much some people underestimate the achievement of players like Taeja and Life who travel all over the world constantly and keep winning tournaments while glorifying KeSPA players who only need to focus on their next match. Skill isn't everything. Like with any sport you also need endurance and the right mindset. Look at how Innovation's year abroad went.

Polt/Ryung/MaNa played in a roundrobin playoff to determine the replacement.

I agree, Jaedong worked harder than anybody else to get to BlizzCon by traveling all year and people gave him shit for it.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

so they saw that Life was also in it and gave up on it in an instant.
I am not a fan of "I only play if I feel like it" types, on the other hand they wouldn't have played good to begin with if they went in with a bad attitude, so I guess doing a Naniwa once in a while is fine.

Sucks that fatigue is catching up with players so much. I don't travel enough to know how bad it can get but these guys are commentators and if they can't do it I guess it's really bad. Glad to hear that herO has started his spiritual journey with a nuclear bishop, will be interesting to see how that helps him

This is just super sad. I understand that they don't wanna travel anymore, but it would have been the sickest tournament with those three.

Now the tournament is more like, does Life or Solar have the best ZvZ.
