Evil Geniuses, NewRoSoft, yoe Flash Wolves, and mYinsanity were victorious at the end of a two day qualifier, besting twelve other teams to earn spots in Acer TeamStory Cup Season 3. They will join eight remaining teams from the previous season to complete the full, twelve-team roster for the season.
With the all-kill format in place, the qualifier allowed for spectacular individual performances and surprising results. NewRoSoft's Welmu scored one of the biggest upsets of the ATC season before it even began, all-killing the free agent coalition known as the "Bounty Hunters." Consisting of players like HyuN, First, YoDa, and MC, the Bounty Hunters had been considered one of the stronger teams in the league, but instead tripped over at their first hurdle.
mYi's jjakji had the best overall performance in the qualifiers, winning an incredible nine games to lead his team into the main tournament. yoe.San continued to play well in ATC after being Season 2's top mercenary, this time helping his original team yoe Flash Wolves through the qualifiers with six wins.
Jaedong showed that Evil Geniuses' SC2 division was still a competitive force, scoring an all-kill and getting his team through the qualifier with the help of JYP.
The ATC qualifier was not without some controversy. The "Bounty Hunters," a coalition of free agents represented by the GEM agency, brought up questions of whether or not an agency could be considered team for the sake of serious competition.
XMG's partnership with the CSA agency also put a spotlight on the issue well, with XMG seemingly using a loophole to add viOLet to their roster in spite of the removal of ATC's old "joker" rule (which had previously allowed a team to field one outside player).
The final list of teams in ATC Season 3 is as follows:
Team Acer Axiom Team Liquid mousesports Millenium Complexity-Dignitas Empire-Fnatic Invictus Gaming Evil Geniuses mYinsanity NewRoSoft yoe Flash Wolves

Well done Welmu! Nice to have him in the league.
And finally mYi is in it. This season will be the best yet, just hope they will have enough time for all these matches.

so much for the team aspect.. all kills rule the day

A lot of new strong contenders for the playoff spots.

Karma was strong that day

So welmu confirmed to be the next foreigner bonjwa?

Was really hoping for Bounty Hunters and Root to make it
Still gratz to everyone who made it, really glad Jaedong and friends will play in ATC3!

After seeing this, I am more convinced that the Proleague format is way better in promoting the "team" aspect of team leagues. EvilJD, mYjjakji, NewWeLmu (holy Welmu :D), yoeFlashSan. I'm not completely convinced that the Welmu all-kill makes NewRoSoft a good competitor in ATC compared to Bounty Hunters. They got a lot to prove. On another note, I don't like the fact that col-Dig is an invited team. AI and XMG could both arguably be better teams than col-Dig, and we aren't even talking about the qualified teams. Oh well, col-Dig was there last season...

Koreans better watch out for Welmu
|
By the way, the yoe in yoeFlashWolves is pronounced "YO-EEE"

Seems like KnowMe is still the undisputed PvP donk king from hell, rofl. Sad that aTn didn't make it in But well, can't have it all.

wow, big names!
too bad ROOT and EG ended up in the same "group" I would have liked to see them both advance.

This is the german cast, I dont think any english caster covered the game, if they did please correct me. They unfortunately didnt show Games 1-3 of the series, but 4 kills of Welmu are here.
Replays might be released later in the week though

I think people are forgetting that NewRoSoft is far from a one-man team. Nightend was Premier League this season, Krass was in WCS all of 2013, and Roof is probably at his best in team leagues. While there's no doubting who the anchor and star of the team is, this isn't one of those situations where everyone else is just trying to grind out a couple of wins to make it easier on the ace. There is real depth here.

Krass was in Challenger this year, but he lost to Bling

Thanks! My german is terrible, but that'll have to do. I watched Khaldor cast the qualifiers in English, but I don't think he casted that match.

That page has just "omg epic" text. :D starcraft2.fi however (for any other finns interested) had links to matches on the German stream with timestamps. So thanks to you too!
