CORE JonSnow - The Challenger
First of all, I want you to take a look at that picture. That is the picture of a true badass. Anyways, let's move on, shall we?
Jarod "JonSnow" George is in his Junior year of high school in the United States. For most people, this means a heavy school workload, preparing for SAT's, potentially thinking about college applications, etc. For JonSnow, this means competing with some of the best in WCS North America's challenger league.
As one of the very few North Americans who made it into WCS America, JonSnow was a complete dark horse. Getting placed in a bracket against ROOT PucK, a contender for one of the top North Americans period, JonSnow had an nail bitingly close series where he eventually fell 1-2. However, the difficult road did not end there. He was then placed in a group of 3 very scary players for a rising North American darkhorse. Facing off against Liquid Taeja, JonSnow played well but was taken out 2-0. However, he was able to almost make the comeback happen after he won against Dignitas' SelecT before he eventually fell to Revival. Considering the group, JonSnow performed impressively and demonstrated he can go blow for blow with some outstanding players.
Of all of the players in this tournament, JonSnow may be the closest to Breaking Out. Being in WCS means an incredible amount and he certainly deserves to have qualified considering the players he had to go over to get there. JonSnow has walked into the arcade that is the WCS scene and put his quarter in. Every top North American player should now have a notification popping up on their screens, because a new Challenger has arrived - CORE Gaming's JonSnow.
Like their player, CORE Gaming is a relatively new team to the Starcraft 2 scene. They had a bit of a rough start but with most of the drama dying down, JonSnow has expressed being pretty happy with his team. I know JonSnow will have some really great practice partners available through his team, so it'll be interesting to see what he'll be able to come up with.
His playstyle ranges quite in a bit when it comes down to the matchups. While he feels pretty good in ZvP and ZvT, his weak point may be his ZvZ because of his discomfort in the volatility of the matchup when handling early aggression. His ZvT has actually become somewhat notorious as he has demonstrated that he is not afraid to roach-baneling all in multiple games in a row. Meanwhile, his ZvP he is enjoying a mass mutalisk style and finding pretty great success in the matchup. The thing about JonSnow is that he is a very solid overall player. Just knowing his builds will not be enough to pick apart his play.
His Group

JonSnow may be breathing a sigh of relief that his teammate, CORE Gaming's Sonic, is not in his group. When you are notorious for all-in'ing a lot in a particular matchup, you can assume that Sonic has probably seen his teammate do it many a time and would have been less susceptable to it. Instead, JonSnow will be butting heads with ROOT SEED's Bones. Based on JonSnow's expression that he felt less comfortable with the late game stages of ZvP, Bones may be an achilles heel. A Protoss player who thrives on patience and perfect defensive play is going to try to bring it to the late game, and JonSnow is going to have to make some magic happen with his Mutalisk harassment to pick apart Bones. If he can make it over that hurdle, the remaining matchups will either be Fnatic's Hellokitty, the incredibly aggressive protoss, or XT Jowj, the tactical Zerg. Those two matches could go down in a thousand different ways, but we'll find out how good he is compared to his rival rising stars in the scene. One thing is for sure, JonSnow is the new challenger on the scene and he has no intention of giving up his quarters.
A New Challenger Approaches...and he's looking for a fight.
