Recently, the bracket for Blizzcon has been finalised as + Show Spoiler +
aLive advanced from his WCS AM Challenger Group, which places him above Mvp in seeding.
Since everyone is getting hyped up for the WCS Global Finals, I decided to create a bracket-prediction contest! You may remember I sorted one for MLG Winter earlier this year, as well as previous bracket contests for TSL. So, here goes:
Select the teams/players you predict to win each game. You can also optionally predict scores (in the text fields), though they will not be counted in the formula which determines who has the most accurate prediction. When done, click the Enter button.
Repeat this process until you have predicted a final winner for the bracket.
That's it!
Sharing your predictions:
You can share your predictions in this thread, or in the Live Report Thread
Don't copy and paste the URL after you finish entering, as that's the generic one and will not show your bracket. You'll need to navigate to your predictions, find your bracket and then click on it.
You can also just print-screen and paste your predictions!
Scoring:
Each predictor's score is determined by adding 1 point for each correctly predicted first round game, then doubling for each additional round, e.g. 2 points for 2nd round games, 4 points for 3rd round, and so on.
The winner will receive thousands of eSports dollars! Or, if I feel sufficiently passionate, I'll offer up another cash prize as I did for MLG.
The deadline for predictions is Friday, Nov 08 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Get cracking!
I've always felt sOs is a far more solid player than people give him credit for (as they attribute it to a gimmick or whatever). Dear vs Taeja was basically a coinflip, as was Dear vs Innovation.
sOs probably wouldn't beat Inno but I want to believe
It so sad to see that Jaedong or Mvp will be eliminated that way. They are my favorite players to win the whole thing with Dear.
I don't know...i want Jaedong to win a very big tournament, but i also want Mvp to become the best player of Starcraft II based on results without a doubt of Starcraft II...

The way I found my &user link is by going to "my brackets" and it'll show your personalized link under 'My Predictions'.
I am offering 1 year's TL+ for anyone who gets every single match and score correctly. If no one gets it right, the person with the highest score gets it.
I know it's impossible with bracket maker, but you should add points for correct map scores for greater variability and competitiveness.... (you only have 17 players, compared to March Madness, which had 64 teams!)
Oh well, at least, it's good to know that I wasn't the only one who thought of this!
I just entered in both one I went for innovation somehow beating Maru, and taking the tourney, in this one I went for Maru beating innovation, then Dear roflstomping to the tourney title. Both predictions over soulkey in the finals.
Innovations strongest matchup is TvP, so i cant see him losing vs Dear. And Soulkey has a "easy" run to the finals only running into Revival/MMA/Polt(in my predictions). Which is not in the same league as him.

That's... a bold prediction. I sure hope you're right
Went with the heart, not the head. Heck, I made it to 200ish on the Liquibet Rankings doing the same (with only 98 of 169 votes, according to my stats), so maybe it'll work out.

Soulkey 4-0 Innovation is just cruel. You want to see a machine cry?
nay, it's Soulkey 0-4 Innovation, I predicted Innovation win (red text), but somehow I keyed in the reversed score, haha. make up for WCS KR season 1 i guess ;__;
Although according to his format, Revival wins 3-1 and not Naniwa.
Some people just always put the higher number first, meh

I'm feeling generous, so when I win this I'll offer to share half my TL+ with the second place bracket
Oh man, the jaedong has a hard road to victory, first MvP (who i had hoped to see in the finals with him) and then Dear, oh man (oh Dear). Anyway JAEDONG FIGHTING!
Nah i didnt bother to sign up there. I just thought it would be helpful to have an objective prediction (one that follows clear rules) just for orientation.
Kespa and Taeja underrated?`...So what would that mean for Dear vs Taeja? I would probably rate MMA and Mvp lower than aligulac. All terran semi finals seems unlikely. but you can see that a lot of matchups are really really close and aligulac has difficulties to make a clear prediction. A lot of 3:2s.
Would not have expected this awhile ago but I have Dear winning. With Taeja the biggest scare and Maru likely to face him again. Bomber's luck of the bracket in turn results in him getting to the finals where his mechanical edge is just too much for Polt.
- Polt and MMA bomb out at season finals - Soulkey runs deep - aLive performs better than expected: in this case, he wins one series - HerO loses to sOs - INnoVation crushes P and Z, loses to Maru - Maru gets to Ro4 - Naniwa punches above his weight, which I think he will do by having a heart-stopping 3-2 series loss to Soulkey
Two rules I am sorry to neglect:
- Never underestimate Mvp - TaeJa makes deep runs at the highest level of competition, without going past Ro4
And the worst abuse of the algorithm, by ignoring a rule that should be in there...
- Jaedong comes second
I expect Soulkey to beat Jaedong and my prediction to be ruined by the soft spot in my heart for the tyrant </3

I have a feeling that despite the season Taeja will go beast mode. Innovation will beat Maru this time around I think, because he did say in his interview that he has really been focusing on his TvT and is very confident in it now. And he should be aware of Maru's shenanigans this time. But Taeja will still be too stronk for Innovation.
I'm too lazy to set up an account on some site or to mess with Paint so I'll just do it in text:
RO16: Soulkey beats NaNiwa 3-1 (Nani is good but I don't think on Soulkey's level) Bomber beats MMA 3-1 (MMA's TvTs against Maru in S3 finals really didn't impress me) sOs beats HerO 3-2 (tough call but HerO's had a bit of a hard time in PvP lately) aLive beats Polt 3-2 (Polt's my favorite player since looooong before he came to the U.S. but his full-time student status will hurt him more and more as he gets further away from the summer) Dear beats TaeJa 3-1 (Dear's PvT is too strong right now and summer is long over) Mvp beats Jaedong 3-1 (I just have a lot more faith in Mvp's TvZ than Jaedong's ZvT) Maru beats MC 3-0 (MC might surprise me, but after seeing how well Maru played against Dear in S3 finals, I just don't think MC can beat THAT) INnoVation beats duckdeok 3-0 (sorry duckdeok)
QF: Soulkey beats Bomber 3-1 (Bomber's TvZ is good but just too predictable) aLive beats sOs 3-2 (tough call but I think sOs will have a harder time now that his style is no longer so unique) Dear beats Mvp 3-1 (TvP has always been Mvp's worst matchup and Dear is the best Protoss around right now) Maru beats INnoVation 3-2 (Tough to call but I feel like INnoVation's biggest weakness is his stubborn clinging to a predictable set of macro builds, which makes him weak against aggressive players)
SF: Soulkey beats aLive 3-0 (I just don't think aLive is on Soulkey's level in this matchup) Dear beats Maru 3-1 (I think Dear knows Maru's playstyle too well by now and don't think Maru is flexible enough to change it very much)
Finals: Dear beats Soulkey 4-2 (I think Dear will fare better in a match that neither one can spend much time preparing for)
All that said, I think the best thing about Blizzcon is that very few outcomes would shock me. It WOULD shock me if duckdeok beats INnoVation, and to a lesser extent if MC beats Maru, but other than that...

MC beating Maru is a bigger upset than Naniwa beating Soulkey? I feel like MC has more potential than Naniwa for pulling impossible wins out of a hat, although I don't want to sell Naniwa short

I think NaNiwa beating Soulkey would also be a big upset, but I feel like NaNiwa is a player who has days when he is brilliant and can beat anyone (I mean come on, he beat Innovation at S2 finals) and also has days when he totally falls apart. If he has a day of brilliance, I give him a good shot against Soulkey, so I would not be SHOCKED if he won. Maru just looks so strong lately, and I feel like MC typically relies on aggression and out-microing his opponents, which is precisely Maru's strength.

Yeah, I suppose it's too bad that Naniwa win over Innovation didn't come just a bit sooner. If it came before Maru vs. Innovation I think everyone would have been kissing Naniwa's feet. I didn't see the games, but the narrative I unconsciously created in my head was "Geez, Innovation sure defeats himself sometimes" rather than "Geez, Naniwa is such a goddamn baller!" But you're right, Naniwa is an incredible player, and I should give him a bit more credit.
On the other hand, it's precisely because both Maru and MC play such an aggressive, micro-oriented game that I feel like that match could go either way. It wouldn't be that surprising for those games to get into crazy base-trade or all-in scenarios where it's a toss-up who comes out on top. Soulkey on the other hand seems like a player who is likely to win on more standard, sturdy play, which makes me feel like an upset is more unlikely.
Is it just me, or is the bottom bracket stacked? :O I think Naniwa has a good chance of making the finals! (a "good" chance meaning still, like, 16.67% though)
Just gonna drop this here again because some people are still just linking to the bracket, not their specific one. You need to have the "&user=xxxxxxx" on the end of your url.

It was going so well, watched the first 10 matches and they all went my way. Wake up the next morning and the remaining two matches have pretty much booted me out Ah well, guess I can cheer for Jaedong.
