Holy Group A. Group B is stronk too. Group C? VortiX should go SHs every game to freak everyone out. And Maru is like magician, always gets the 'weakest' groups. Also, grudge match against soO, YAY.
trollolol vortix, i hope your zvp is in good shape.
i actually think group C is the hardest one. 3 very strong protosses and one (probably) outmatched foreigner zerg... assuming all 3 of them beat vortix, it could very well come down to the wire who advances from this and who doesnt. pvp is still an unforgiving matchup...
group A if of course also stacked as hell, but i actually see mc and hack quite a bit below polt and sk. groups B and D are strong, but imho weaker than A and C.

ZvP is his best match-up, actually... It's the only match-up he practiced the entire WCS EU season... or at least the one he practiced a substantial amount more than the other two. ~_~

There is a problem. Are the pairings A-D or D-C? If first then soO may run into Polt (may but most likely will not, since i bet my hat it is Soulkey to take 2nd here). If 2nd then he can ran into HerO or Dear and that hurts.
Looking good for Naniwa. His only contesters on his way to Blizzcon are soO, Dear and Oz and all of them need 1k more points and thus a top 4 finish. As long as only one of them reaches this goal, Nani is in. HerO should go out of his group on his strong pvp and thus Oz or Dear will be eliminated right away.

HerO may have strong pvp, but he only won a Bo series against Oz only once. Then it is Dear that has a coach in form of sOs against HerO.
This is just a fuckin joke. VortiX ZvP ratio is over 95% atm, and as if by chance, he is seeded vs 3 protosses ? Lol, Blizzard just did that because its good for business to have a foreigner in the final bracket... Even if I'm a big VortiX fan, I believe this one is a little bit too big. whatever, at least it will be fun to see VortiX in the Ro8.

Lol, WAHT!? First: Vortix's ZvP is not anywhere near 95%, wtf are you talking about? Next, if you actually pay attention it is luck: We have in group C: WCS KR winner: WCS AM representative WCS EU representative WCS AM representative (random region). Group A: WCS AM winner WCS KR represent WCS EU represent WCS AM represent (random) Group B: WCS EU winner WCS KR represent WCS AM represent WCS EU represent (random) Group D: WCS AM runner-up WCS KR represent WCS EU represent WCS KR represent (random). Just luck, nothing more.

Unfortunately there's not a fuckin chance for HerO to take even a single map against VortiX. He is playing one level ahead of him right now... dunno for Dear though...

Maybe its not 95%, but its very high and neither Oz or HerO has a single chance against him... Its a free pass for Ro8 that Blizzard just gave to VortiX.

You cannot possibly be serious
Yeah. HerO vOz may be terrible, but HerO vZ is probably one of the most beautiful and stronk things in the world. Yeah, right, Sora comes close :D

I could see Vortix beating Oz because PvZ is Oz' weakest matchup and I could see Dear going full korean protoss and doing something he doesn't need to do (getting fancy/cheesy/overly safe/overly greedy) and Vortix catching him off guard. HerO vs Vortix though? HerO's played his share of foreign zergs. He knows how to ruin their lives.
Dear god, is someone actually complaining that the only foreigner in the WCS finals got his best mu for his entire group, and therefore has a better chance of advancing through his group to keep representing the foreigners? I hope he does well and makes a good run into the bracket.

15 hour group stage incoming
we should just refer to that as "going full firecake" in the future imo
Overall, I think the best chances are for Soulkey, Polt, Jaedong (oh well, at least 2nd) aaaaand...maybe Maru do have the best chances. On the other hand, it might depend a bit on how long they stay there before they have to play. So I guess, HerO has a shot as well x)

FireCake, the spoon zerg, becomes the Cake Spoon.
Fear the Cake Spoon, the spatula in your kitchen drawer!

Also I hope they're smart about fan popularity and realize a lot of people won't be able to make it for the friday first/partially second groups, and play them in an order such the more popular/fun groups A and B are played at night
Group A is nice, the rest is pretty weak, Maru, Soo and MMA can be interesting to follow though.
Also think that Dear coming in as a code S champion will get slaughtered, maybe he proves me wrong. Still can't wrap my head around that he won Code S. I am not a fan, if he does well now I will be though!
All these groups look really close. Most people seem to be counting out Trap and ByuL, and I think there's really no basis for that. Trap hasn't had the exposure so people keep underrating him (I can still remember Tasteless' shocked voice in the KR placement matches; "Uh... Trap might actually win this?!" like such a thing is unthinkable) but he's as good as MMA and Jaedong, and if ByuL can win a ZvZ Bo5 against Jaedong, he can win a ZvZ Bo3 against soO. The two big underdogs the way the groups shake out are certainly Genius and duckdeok.
Dat Group A of death..... Shame HerO has to play potentially 2 PvPs....though his PvZ vs Hyun in WCS previously was insane so he should be feeling good vs Vortix.
Group A, I've personally never cared for polt or soulkey and hack doesn't have the results to announce out loud that I don't care for him. Same thing in group d. Not interested in soo, byul or duckdeok.
I always like judging a tourney based off how many I'd like in the round of 8 reguardless of groups/ and this tourney I can only muster 7.
(I know there's no excuse for not being interested in polt or soulkey, there both gods in their own right they just never clicked.)
MC, JD, MMA, GENIUS, DEAR, VORTIX, MARU
Now... (Heart) MCsoulkey JD/MMA(mma seems the most in form of any player on earth) DEAR/VORTIX MARUcould care less really can't form an opinion for second place, I'd think soo would make it out.
On October 24 2013 04:42 Soohyung wrote: Group A isn't all that hard in my opinion.
Well, we do not know the current form of Soulkey, but Polt is still in America=homelandbuff/s, then we have MC who can pull MC and somehow get out of the group and to close it out we have Hack, who is kinda underrated but is kinda sick. Group B can be stronger though, yeah.

mc has very strong group. he's a old champion but I dont think he can handle this group.
maru vs soO will be very interesting tvz.
jaedong is gonna beat genius without problem. but mma will have hard times against trap.
vortix has very small chance. actually dear is clear favourite for this group. dear is in another level. even life and soO losing against him. so vortix cant beat dear. but he can beat herO or Oz.

It lacks story and drama because it's all Korean? I could one up you on why there's no story. Partially because you have these guys competing in different qualifiers and don't play against one another often enough. How's that for story? Same rules apply to everyone man. Don't throw the 100/95 or whatever number you want to throw in there because there's a lot of Koreans. Perfect example of what I call tunnel vision.
On October 24 2013 05:49 Lephex wrote: so its a 100% korean wcs finals ?? Will be good games, but will lack drama und stories to be honest, which makes me sad. ((
As an individual Oz provides more story than Vortix :/. All Vortix has going for him is that he's the 1 foreigner.
Super Ultra HYPE!!!!~~~~ I will be waking up at 7 am and skipping work to watch these games!!~~....thank goodness the Australian gov inforces at least 1 week of paid sick leave for full time positions!~~
Why more people don't vote D? It's only group with 2 from Korean WCS and who are last season champ and this seasaon finalist. Plus finalist from WCS America and last season champ from Europe!!
tldr Group D is hardest: 2 winners, 2 2nd place; and 2 from this season of WCS Korea.
A: 2x1st, 1 current; 1x2nd, 1 current; 1 WCS Korea (hardest region) B: 1x1st, 1 current; 1x2nd, 0 current; 1 WCS Korea C: 2x1st; 1 current; 0x2nd; 1 WCS Korea D: 2x1st; 0 current; 2x2nd, 2 current; 2 WCS Korea (finalist and previous champ not a 3/4/5th placer like Trap)
I would say hardest are: D > A > C > B not that any are easy of course.

Did I not say D? I said B wasn't bad either. In either case, fanbois be strong in polls man. Don't underestimate them.

How are there "no stories or drama"? rofl. Because they're Korean? MMA coming back after like a two year slump and looking insane, MC trying to win another tournament after he's been getting 2nd, Genius another old timer trying to make a name for himself without having a team, Jaedong potential major breakthrough win after so many second places, the winner and 2nd place of WCS KR potentially facing off again, Vortix v Protoss...Ridiculous statement.
I think B and C are stronger than D... VortiX has some chance tbh, his ZvP is very, very good, but it'll obviously be really hard. Could see him beat Oz and maybe HerO.
Strongest group is either A or B (tough to call), then C, then D is clearly the weakest. Maru is very strong, soO is very solid but has yet to convince me he's a "top" player rather than just a solid one, and duckdeok and ByuL need a lot more than success in AM/EU to show that they can take on top Koreans. They're definitely good players, but suggesting D is the strongest group seems silly to me.
Edit: Probably more fair to say that C and D are clearly weaker than A and B (IMO). C vs D is pretty close; I think duckdeok and VortiX are approximately the same skill level, Dear vs Maru is close but I give a slight edge to Dear because he just beat Maru in a Bo5, Oz vs ByuL also close but I have to give the edge to Oz because he has a track record (GSL semifinalist a long time ago and a recent 2nd place IEM), soO vs HerO I think too close to call; soO has been more consistent but HerO has flashes of brilliance that I don't really associate with soO.
I feel like group B is the strongest. MMA, Jaedong and Trap are all very strong and Genius is an absolute trickster. A: Soulkey/Polt B: Trap/MMA C: Dear/Vortix (the upset pick) D: Maru/soO
Group A: Soulkey/MC Group B: Jaedong/Trap Group C: Dear/Oz Group D:SoO/Maru
Jaedong is in prime shape to take this tournament in my opinion if he doesn't meet any Zergs lol. Guy can only be good with two match-ups. Trap is probably the wild card but he is really impressive imo with his warp prism plays.
Can't decide between group A or B. Both are super hard. A: Polt and Soulkey B: Jaedong and MMA C: Dear and Oz D: Maru and Soo HerO seems to struggele a bit lately so i am not very sure about this group. Also PvP has a lot of randomness and since Vortix has a good zvp i guess everyone could advance. MMA is a wildcard imho. The other ones feels like a good bet.
Wow, this tourney is stacked. MMA, MC, VortiX, Jaedong, HerO... I have no idea who to cheer for! Luckily, I just built a new mancave - so I can watch and play this weekend at the same time
