It's telling that different people have different tastes and what some like other's don't. Nothing more nothing less. No, clearly a protoss legend retiring has to be connect to something we can blame Blizzard for. It always has to be. I stubbed my toe last week and I am pretty sure it was because I was thinking about how to save SC2 from dying, so that has to be Blizzard's fault too. It is completely Blizzard's fault for creating the race to differentiate from the original style that's for sure. Everybody knows that P and T's play style have been inverted in SC2 so naturally speaking people won't enjoy it as much.
I'm sorry but two legends retire and Blizzard is supposed to somehow read into that like it's a sign? As far as Blizzard is concerned, most of the BW legends who have switched are still playing. Staying within reason and rationality, what on Earth do you want Blizzard to do?

We all knew this day would come. Jangbi's was more of a shocker but we're going to see a whole lot of the old generation Bwers call it quits with SC2.

Even though I find all that talk ridiculous I'd like to point at that only several legends are still playing the game. As for the rest they're long gone man, so I have no idea what you're talking about. A lot of the guys we see are part of the new guard/new generation. They fall into the good prospects camp who were starting to make names for themselves in BW. Even a guy like SoulKey falls into this category. The big two guys from BW playing at the moment are Flash and Jaedong. Stork to a lesser extent. Then you have guys like EffOrt, BaBy, etc. BW Legends? I wouldn't overuse that word. Regardless that whole conversation is fruitless.

I feel no emotions about this.
That is very eerie.

We really need someone to do the math on the average progamer career to put this all into context. I really feel that a lot of these guys retire at about the same age to move on to other fields. At some point, you will get tired of living in a team house when the other people in your life are moving on to careers, full time jobs or starting families.

Not yet. He still hasn't done his military service.

Clearly its also Blizzard's fault there is mandatory military service in South Korea and that all the progamers live in gaming houses where it is super hard to have a girlfriend. Also, any injuries or family problems we might not know about because, you know, privacy, those are Blizzard's fault as well. Im amazed how ignorant people like this keep on coming and post so bullshit.
on topic: Ok ok, 2 legendary players retiring doesnt mean nothing. LOL really? what about the others?
How about SC2 is not enjoyed by the public? Maybe its not blizzard fault again, i guess by your logic those people just doesnt have taste for the good RTS games and doesnt understand true esports. By the way do you know which country made the esports - Korea hahahaha Do you know sc2 popularity is much below amateur BW in Korea right now? One might say, Koreans are used to the more complicated games, yes? No.
League of legends surpassed greatly SC2 by popularity, and if you dont know this game is very simple unlike sc2. So then where is the problem? Anybody have thinked about sc2 is just bad? That the way SC2 is continuing to be strong outside of Korea are only the money that big companies throw in, about huge ass tournaments and such?
Now you have reasons to think and i guess not to write such bullshit next time.

That the way SC2 is continuing to be strong outside of Korea are only the money that big companies throw in, about huge ass tournaments and such? Now you have reasons to think and i guess not to write such bullshit next time. I guess you can call common sense BS, if that does not reflect your idea of SC2 sucking. Yes, they were legendary players in Brood War, and have a large following. But them retiring citing lack of passion for SC2 only means that they did not like SC2, and it is understandable, since they were forced to play it against their own like.
SC2 is not enjoyed by public? Well, name me a high mechanical skill demanding 1v1 game that is enjoyed by public. Brood War? Miss, most of it's fans almost never touched 1v1. Koreans are not used to more complicate games. THey are used to free-to-play games and there is nothing bad in that.
Comparing LoL to SC2... is plain wrong and everyone knows reasons for it. Sc2 is entertaining for me, except for PvT (yes, only 1 match up out of 6). Also, SC2 is not strong outside of Korea on the back of money the big companies throw in, since big companies are not that stupid to throw money to not get exposure. They surely get it, if they keep doing it.

I don't really get why people are shocked or even sad concerning this "news"...
Yes he was a "god" during his time, but his time was when SC:BW was the game to play. In StarCraft II he didn't achieve anything, literally anything. One Semi-Final at the first KeSPA organized "invite-only" tournament where he only played against other BW players who at the time were as "untrained" in SCII as he himself. After that he faded into the big pool of faceless Korean Protoss players. Him leaving SCII doesn't harm the game in any way. Even if he would stay longer he obviously doesn't have what it takes to come back to the top in SCII again. So no loss at all here.
Concerning the SC:BW scene, he left that one quite some time ago so again he didn't contribute to it in the past. However when he is done with his military service and has figured his live out a bit he might come back to SC:BW and do it as a "hobby", he still would be good at it and would entertain his fans, just he wouldn't have to commit 100% of his live to it like he did for the past 6+ years. So maybe no loss here either. And maybe after he is back from military there was a big change in the current eSports scene and everybody is playing SC:BW again, then he might even play the game he is good in as a full-time professional again (unlikely for many reasons but one is allowed to dream from time to time).
