Does Mvp always get easy groups? :DDD
Wow ToD against ForGG.
group B is definitely group of death
Group B and F stick out as tough groups.
Group of death poll in the original post please.
I think group B will be the closest.
Group D is the toughest. Depending on performances some other groups like A or B might show better games but on paper D is really hard.
Groups all look tough to me! A and B caught my eye the most, though.
Super stoked for them to start playing!
Go Kas, Thorzain, and Hasuobs!
Mvp gets always easiest group :O
man why does Grubby always get such hard groups at every tournament
on the other hand, Mvp tends to get the easy ones and this is no exception

Wow nice looking groups! Go duckdeok, TAiLS, Genius, Grubby, and Naniwa! <3
poor ShoWTimE lol still rooting for you!
I thought D was easily the hardest group but I just realized it's Starbuck and not Stardust. Still a hard group though.
Starbuck beat Genius in Challenger qualifier
I wonder how people believe group E is harder then G
Awesome groups all over, so looking forward to this!! Anyone care for some speculations?
Group A: Naniwa and ToD go though Group B: Happy and TLO go through (unless Sase plays on the EU server, then he will take TLO's spot) Group C: Vortix and MVP go through Group D: Grubby and Starbuck go through Group E: Welmu and sLivko go through Group F: Hasuobs and Nerchio go through Group G: MMA and Babyknight go through Group H: MC and Stardust go through
We'll get a lots of Toss again for the next group stage I think, but we're used to that now.
Not that many Koreans will make it to the second group stage. The foreigners will be well prepared for cheesy tactics this time and they will defend well to take the matches to the later stage.
Genius still plays starcraft?
Cmon TLO! I want to see the foreigner scene represented by that devilishly handsome zerg in the Blizzcon finals!
Boring groups for the most part.
B & D are decent.
Group B will be interesting.
I swear mvp has some kind of group blessing.
It might be biased from me cause really a fan of HasuObs's play lately, but I'd deffinitely say that Group F is the hardest..
About group B though - TLO is the weakest player in it.. lol
EDIT: Here are some of my Group predictions though:
EDIT again: I think I just predicted that no Zerg will advance.. Guess the highest chance of them goes with Nerchio, but he has a really damn hard group TBH
Ahahaahahah GROUP A omg ESL did you put all the drama-queens together on purpose ? :D Very funny group, best trolls ever in it.
Shitty preditions : Group A : ForGG / NaNi Group B : SaSe / DuckDuck Group C : Mvp / Vortix Group D : Lucifron / Genius Group E : Welmu / BlinG Group F : Titan / Nerchio Group G : MMA / Tails Group H : MC / Kas
Group A: Naniwa and ForGG Group B: Duckdeok and TLO Group C: Vortix and MVP Group D: Grubby and Lucifron Group E: Welmu and sLivko Group F: Hasuobs and Nerchio Group G: MMA and Tails Group H: MC and Stardust
The future has been foreseen!
Group A - NaNiwa + ForGG Group B - Duckdeok + SaSe Group C - Mvp + VortiX Group D - LucifroN + Genius Group E - Welmu + sLivko Group F - HasuObs + Nerchio Group G - MMA + BabyKnight Group H - MC + Kas
Hehe Mvp has a pretty nice group.
He should be able to beat each of those players individually, but in the group setting, it's also possible to see him dropping a series before advancing in second place. Still, Mvp's luck is amazing - his group is probably one of the easiest!
I think G is underrated as a group of death.
Not every stage or season has to have a group of death
People forget there is a distinction between a hard/tough group and a group of death.
I like to think of a hard group as "oh, someone might get upset this round" and a group of death as "wtf were the matchmakers thinking when they allowed this, this could easily be a final four"

Grats on making premier league for the first time firecake, as your reward for the new guy here's MC, kas and stardust.
I don't think there is a group of death, I'd say Group D is maybe the hardest though.
Go ForGG !
Come on mvp he can do this!
Forgg & Targa will come out of group A
Group B definetely looks more like Ro16. I'd love to see both SaSe and TLO go through, but it's going to be hard.
Favorites like Naniwa, MC, Welmu or VortiX should make it. Rough test for Lucifron though. And yes, apart from VortiX zerg presence in Ro16 looks in danger.
welmu vs bling omgomg this is gonna be geewd
Duckdeok got kinda screwed... Mvp gets easy group as always XD

they put ToD into this group to make shure he can concentrate on casting.

^^ atleast at GSL back in the day we hoped he was just good at minipulating others for group selections
Winners are born lucky i guess.
can't wait for the Starbuck - Genius rematch....special tactiiiics :D
wow.. so so any protosses here... we will have around 8+ protosses on the RO16.. which is too much.. Don`t get me wrong.. i like toss but this is too much. MVP Finale will not qualify from his group... just saying
I think group F is the hardest. Not only because of HasuObs but because imho Nercho is the weakest player o_0 and that counts a lot... I think Group F HasuObs Shuttle will advance...

No proper group of death there, some will be closer than others though.
Best of luck to Mvp and NaNi

When I was looking at these groups I remembered the whole "which country is the best outside of korea" discussion which went on in this forum for several months a time ago. So I figured that it might be a good idea to write down all of the players nationalities which led to this:
Korea: 9 Russia, Germany: 4 Sweden: 3 France, Spain: 2 Ukraine, Norway, Netherlands, Finland, UK, Poland, Denmark, Slovenia: 1
I'm a bit surprised by the ukraine because a great majority agreed that ukraine is at least in the top3 of europe and looking at Kas' group it is quite likely, that there won't be a single ukrainian left for the next groupstage.
Of course this is just a small sample and does not provide that much of a data. Nevertheless I found it rather interesting.

Group H seems hardest to me, then A.
Also: go go Grubby!
Two protosses in every group.
a bit too many koreans for my taste.i have a feeling mma will win this season wcs europe
I'm preparing some special tactics when I'm facing Genius Better get prepared Genius ! Kappa

After seeing that Qualifier finals...I'm your biggest fan! Earlier I wrote the same thing you did )))) GLFH! Don't get nervous, be BM in a nice way and play crazy, but well exercised!!!!
Hope you win to get rid of the dullness of Korean build executants!

Don't you think? I know that you are a good player, but in all honesty... Recent results are not speaking against you, but for HasuObs as one of the strongest foreigners... Of course he sliped against MMA and Welmu but he made up for it by winning 2 major titles shortly after...
And I think shuttle will advance.. well because it's shuttle.. I think it will be a close one, maybe HasuObs Nerchio or HasuObs Shuttle... But HasuObs will go out first in this group...
He stomped MVP and grubby. He won the ESL summer and he won WCG germany... His PvZ is maybe is weakest matchup so maybe you have a chance... but still.. he beat TLO recently(think 2 weeks ago) also 2:1...

Yeah quite interesting indeed! Not having Dimaga in Premier League is of course a bit of an upset (for me at least) and both Bly and Strelok dropped out of challenger league now...
It would be so cool to have a national championship similar to the Davis Cup in Tennis with say four 1v1s, two 2v2s, and one 3v3, each nation lining up 4-5 players.

Would be cool.. but pls not 2v2 and 3v3, max 1 2v2 and the other 1v1. I think still the best nations are something like this.. is hard to tell anyhow... 1.Korea 2.Sweden 3.Canada 4.Germany 5.Russia 6.France 7.Poland 8.Spain 9.China 10.Finland
What do you think?

@Groups Very nice groups, I hope TLO makes it through, altough its going to be hard :/

I think that is quite a good representation. funny that the USA is not in your top 10... I know they are not... but it is still quite strange because SC2 is still very bonded with the us... I watch day9 and husky all day... and still they don't have any players that make good progress... ok maybe goswser and minigun... also puck is quite good... but that's it... really sad

I didn't say that Nerchio is bad... What I wanted to say was: If there is a group where Nerchio could be the weakest player... then the group must be tough..
But man.. no one can at the moment doubt HasuObs performance... He sliped against mma and welmu but that was to be expected... he posted on his FB account that he didn't sleep at all the night before the matches... But still he won WCG at gamescom... which was not an easy task...
I don't know how good shuttle is at the moment... is he playing from korea? if so nerchio will make second place... if not... than I think shuttle has this.

I think we really need a world team championship to find out!
Who would represent the countries though? Say five players each:
1.Korea: (I'm not going to touch this with a 3 meter stick ) 2.Sweden: Naniwa, Sase, ThorZain, Sortof, ? 3.Canada: Scarlett, Huk, ?, ?, ? 4.Germany: HasuObs, TLO, Krass, Showtime,? 5.Russia: Happy, Titan, sLivko, Noname, ? 6.France: Dayshi, Firecake, ToD, ?, ? 7.Poland: Nerchio, Tefel, MaNa, uzer, ? 8.Spain: Vortix, Lucifron, Alastor, ?, ? 9.China: Jim, Macsed, Top, ?, ? 10.Finland: Welmu, Elfi, Fuzer, ?, ?
I have to throw in the Netherlands and Ukraine into the discussion here as well:
Holland: Grubby, Ret, Harstem, ?, ? Ukraine: Kas, Dimaga, Strelok, Bly, ?
I think there is a lot of candidates for the last spot in Sweden (Morrow, Bischu, Sjow), Germany (Heromarine, Socke, Tarrantius) Russia (Verdi, Bratok, Livezerg) and Poland (DieStar, Paranoid) to mention a few, but I'm not so sure about Canada tbh. It feels like Spain and Finland is similar in that there are few given candidates behind the top players that could easily claim the last spots... When I look at it like this I'd like to reshuffle the list just a bit:
1.Korea: (I'm still not going to touch this with a 3 meter stick ) 2.Sweden: Naniwa, Sase, ThorZain, Sortof, ? 3.Germany: HasuObs, TLO, Krass, Showtime,? 4.Russia: Happy, Titan, sLivko, Noname, ? 5.Poland: Nerchio, Tefel, MaNa, uzer, ? 6.Ukraine: Kas, Dimaga, Strelok, Bly, ? 7.France: Dayshi, Firecake, ToD, ?, ? 8.Spain: Vortix, Lucifron, Alastor, ?, ? 9.China: Jim, Macsed, Top, ?, ? 10.Finland: Welmu, Elfi, Fuzer, ?, ? 10.Holland: Grubby, Ret, Harstem, ?, ?
I don't know where to fit Canada in there with only 2 players. Ukraine moved up to 6th spot, because that is still a quite fearsome line-up. All in all between 2nd and 6th spot it feels like it is a very close call.
canada doesn´t really have to offer a "bunch of top players" so i wouldn´t pick canada for a top 5 position. 1 Scarlett can´t change it. All other positions of your toplists are fine. Agree with you

I think still the best nations are something like this.. is hard to tell anyhow... 1.Korea 2.Sweden 3.Canada 4.Germany 5.Russia 6.France 7.Poland 8.Spain 9.China 10.Finland What do you think? I think we really need a world team championship to find out! Who would represent the countries though? Say five players each: 1.Korea: (I'm not going to touch this with a 3 meter stick ) 2.Sweden: Naniwa, Sase, ThorZain, Sortof, ? 3.Canada: Scarlett, Huk, ?, ?, ? 4.Germany: HasuObs, TLO, Krass, Showtime,? 5.Russia: Happy, Titan, sLivko, Noname, ? 6.France: Dayshi, Firecake, ToD, ?, ? 7.Poland: Nerchio, Tefel, MaNa, uzer, ? 8.Spain: Vortix, Lucifron, Alastor, ?, ? 9.China: Jim, Macsed, Top, ?, ? 10.Finland: Welmu, Elfi, Fuzer, ?, ? I have to throw in the Netherlands and Ukraine into the discussion here as well: Holland: Grubby, Ret, Harstem, ?, ? Ukraine: Kas, Dimaga, Strelok, Bly, ? I think there is a lot of candidates for the last spot in Sweden (Morrow, Bischu, Sjow), Germany (Heromarine, Socke, Tarrantius) Russia (Verdi, Bratok, Livezerg) and Poland (DieStar, Paranoid) to mention a few, but I'm not so sure about Canada tbh. It feels like Spain and Finland is similar in that there are few given candidates behind the top players that could easily claim the last spots... When I look at it like this I'd like to reshuffle the list just a bit: 1.Korea: (I'm still not going to touch this with a 3 meter stick ) 2.Sweden: Naniwa, Sase, ThorZain, Sortof, ?
Naama, in Naama we trust. He allkilled team Sweden (swevsfin match) and after that went to win DH2010Winter.
But in reality, after Welmu, elfi and Fuzer(even tho he is retired) there is Naama, Satiini, Protosser and rising star Jagelius. And Protossers 14yo brother Serral.

You are right of course, I had forgotten about Naama. Haven't seen him much lately though? Jagelius I haven't seen at all, and I'm sure there are plenty of more upcoming players I haven't noticed yet (like most of the Chinese players for example).

Just ended "SteelSeries KoTH - Fnatic v prOperty $250" where Naama won RunA with his own style :D from banshee to macro mech game.

Yeah quite interesting indeed! Not having Dimaga in Premier League is of course a bit of an upset (for me at least) and both Bly and Strelok dropped out of challenger league now... swe: hOpe ger: Socke, Heromarine urk: fraer

Interesting to see that group A has so many votes for toughest group. When I first saw the groups, my initial reaction was that it was one of the easiest groups Naniwa could get.

It is true that Mvp got through a group of death way back in GSL August... since then, Mvp has been placed in really awesome groups.
Mvp for repeat EU championship anyone?

he has to play with lag from korea again. I wouldn't be suprised if he falls short. directly out of R32 or R16 latest...

Wouldn't be surprised either but I think he makes it at least through group stage.

So far, Mvp has not succumbed to the wall of lag.
S1: Made it through Ro32, took 1st place S2: Made it through Ro32, dropped out in Ro16 (offline no lag), made it through CL Ro16 (online lag)
Surprisingly, maybe Mvp has a higher chance to advance with lag?
