That's CEBIT, not Gamescom

CEBIT will be the business one this year
gamescom has WCS, league of legends EU playoffs and world championship wildcard, and w/e else
only aug 21st will be all business for them

Gamescom usually has a lot of fans, with good hype it can generate a massive audience. First live SC2 event I ever watched was IEM Cologne at Gamescom a couple years ago. Select vs Socke was the first game I ever watched.

Captain Obvious speaking here but the location is alot more ideal for American and European fans to watch the finals unlike the last season

They talked about the global finals, which is normally always held at CEBIT in Hannover. Gamescon is different. CEBIT has always been a business event though, IEM is just a tiny tiny part of it. The convention center in Hannover is so big it has busroutes.

Great venue and enviornment to hold the finals in!

Fuck! than finally an awesome tournament is close enough that i could go an watch it live. But it's exactly then when i'm on holiday -.- That can't be the truth
|
do you have to buy tickets to watch it live?
|
how many people does it hold?
|
its gonna be awesome. makes up for the fact that theres no IEM stop in hannover/germany this year.
happy campers all around
|
Does visitors get a code for a special ingame pic as in the first season final in korea?
|
This it's going to be awesome :D

Whats nice about the venue? Its a exhibition center with big ass boring halls. Nothing special and SC2 wont be the only thing in that hall, LCS will be there i guess and a lot of other stuff.
I dont like it, imo the biggest event in Europe this year (cause it should be... GLOBAL SEASON FINALS) shouldn't be at a tradeshow, period. It deserve's its own venue and not tucked away in a corner at a tradeshow where 90% of the visitors wont give a fuck about it. I watch a lot of shows about games in general, and every year i see dozens of like reports about gamescom with previews from games, they walk through the venue etc etc etc and do you know many minutes they talk about esports or show something of it.... 0, nothing... nobody cares.
Ill watch it but i dont expect anything special, it doesn't get me excited and i wont take a free weekend for it if my work schedule messes it up.
|
Does anyone know if there will be any sc2 action on Thursday the 22nd? :X I don't think they booked the area on the event and just don't use it for anything on the first 2 days... My German fansite duties make me go there on that day... oh well, maybe I will go there twice...
|
Does anyone have an estimation of the time of this event? Will need it to prepare for BarCraft
|
Why does it always have to be at Conventions IEM? It sucks from a spectator perspective ... its noisy as fuck because of all the comotion around you not concerning the actual gameplay. Other shit happening on the same stage having nothing to do with the tournament or some other game you dont care about. Having to pay to enter the convention every day if u wanna watch the entire tournament.
Ive been to Cebit and Gamecom and watched a couple games, but you just dont get the tournament excitement from like a Katowice venue .. for once I wish we could get a dedicated torunament by IEM in Germany (not counting the WCS studio in cologne)
|
i should go, i live 60km away and have free time until september ... hmmmm worth a thought ^^
|
I went to Gamescom last year, didn't pay much attention to the sc2 stage, but I did creep around the progamers a bit, and I have to agree that it was indeed quite noisy, especially with the LoL venue right next to it (seriously, there was like a 15m distance between the two).
The fact that it's at gamescom feels kind of like a double-edged sword to me, because for one, you get to see awesome new games and consoles (ps4, xbox one, etc this year), but you could kind of want to see the matches as well. I didn't even take that much of a look at the new games and stuff last year because I was practically glued to the sc2 venue.
I'm going to stay in Cologne for 3 nights this year though, hoping to spend a bit of time on the first day with my friends checking out the newer games and consoles while watching WCS on the other two days.
Nonetheless, I'm still very excited to go to the event in a few weeks, and hope we'll get to see awesome games and matches!
