Yeah, their statements feel like their basically saying they want to focus on European players. Also his results were kinda lackluster in the last months (e.g. drop out of WCS completely after being in Challenger).

Illusion is still one of the top players in NA, one of the big five (EG, Quantic, Clarity, ROOT and complexity) will take him.

I hope mousesports picks up one of the promising German terrans (kauP, TrOn, KrasS) or Bunny. (pick up Bunny mouz. Do it. PICK HIM UP GODDAMNIT)

i see illusion as more of an american / NA player. Mouz is European based so it makes sense that he will likely join an NA team. Best of luck to him

Maybe he will be back on Quantic again.

When he got picked up I thought it was kinda weird, he was their only NA player right? I'm sure the time difference made some stuff hard. GL though, illusion.

The big reason they're mentioning seems to be because they want to focus on European players.

From the press release:

We've decided to part ways with the North American StarCraft II player Chris "Illusion" Lee with immediate effect. The team will now concentrate on the European region in the future, especially with the recruitment of LucifroN and VortiX a couple of weeks ago.

Also:

mousesports StarCraft II Head Coordinator Markus "mouz MaX" Kemper has stated, that the focus of the team is to represent the best European StarCraft II players, supporting them in their efforts to mess with the best players in the world...

illusion has been a huge dissapointment as an NA terran player. I had such high hopes for the dude over a year ago. not quite sure why he never seemed to make any progress

Very much disagree with you sir. When illusion was picked up, I'd say he was as good as or better than everyone on the team. That's why they picked up a random American when mouz has always been Europe/Korea/China only.

He hasn't been performing over the top like he was before, and mouz got a nice pickup with the Duran brothers, but I wouldn't be so quick to say he's less valuable than HeroMarine and hOpe.

Still, mouz didn't really help illusion develop much as a player. I think this move is better for him than it is for mouz.

Well, he was picked up at a time when good foreign Terrans were extremely scarce, and he was one of the most promising talents, but now that situation has changed radically, and mouz even has the best foreigner Terran on their roster. Considering the time zone differences, the fact that he dropped out of WCS America despite having an easy challenger group and knowing that it will be really hard to qualify again, and the fact that there are other Terrans which are also pretty good but probably cheaper.

I'm sure the top US teams will snatch him up though.

Mouz never held back from signing North Americans in Brood War, Dota 2 etc. It's just that Europeans suit them better because they are European...closer to the sponsors, closer to the team HQ, closer to the events they want to be at...

I agree that this move is good for him though in the long run. If he joins a team with an NA focus, he can go to more events etc, rather than be overshadowed by mouz's big four.
